1: I won't be singing of the sort, I always laugh at fans that sing that for it to blow up in their faces, I don't want to be one of those fans.

2: What is the obsession with people thinking Scunthorpe are going to fall away?

There are good dreams, and then there are dreams that take a grip, they tighten around your imagination and don't let go.......just forget we're currently second, just forget we're about to bring in new players, just think about United, doing well, no guarantees, no what ifs or maybes, just focus on each player doing their job to the best of their capabilities..........this way lies the route to success, this way we'll be able to support a team whose manager turned a club that was slowly going nowhere into a club where success was once again an expectation. I'm thinking no further than our next game, then, and only then, will I assess our chances of what might happen at the season's end.

I think people should enjoy it while they can, if thats singing about being top then so what? I do agree with you about scunny though cas, maybe its more wishful thinking or is it, its only scunny, cannot possibly last the pace.

I think they will

I believe it's going to happen , and us to go up as champions , with Bolton a distant 2nd ,
However the seasons 46 games long , with plenty of hiccups along. the way , with unexpected loses ,
so I won't be getting my knickers in a twist if we don't win every game 5 nowt , but only scrape by 1-0 .
3 points is 3 points , no matter what the score .

I remember after Imre Varadi gave us the lead in the home game against Cambridge in December 1978, the Blades fans were singing "We are going up! We are going up!". We didnt win that match and we got relegated at the end of the season!

Yeah in all seriousness I don't have a problem with people celebrating us being top of the league. We should enjoy it when good things happen.

I'm just wary of people making assumptions. Like someone else said, best to take it a game at a time and just enjoy the ride.

Were we 2-0?
It ended 3-3.

A very cold BDTBL.

BLUT S/T G38.

Yes, Varadi scored again early in the 2nd half. Not long after that, Gary Hamson had a penalty saved. Cambridge then took advantage of Dracula Conroy who was unable to deal with the crosses and they scored three quickfire goals (think Alan Biley scored twice). John Matthews saved us a point late in the game with a screamer, assisted by Greenwich Blade 's dad (he will tell you the story)

THE MIGHTY BLADES

League One Champions 1016/17
Championship Champions 2017/18
Premiership Champions 2018/19
Domestic and European Treble (Prem, FA Cup and CL) 2019/20

IF YOU BELIEVE THEN YOU CAN ACHIEVE. I BELIEVE.

That first championship was before the Normans arrived since when the standard has risen much higher...so anything after that is impressive.

If we win then factually the song is relevant,as opposed to we're gonna win the league which will upset the footballing gods that have got it in for us,apparently

A win on Saturday and at 2.45pm we will be singing "United top of the league,United United top of the league"
Bolton v Scunny 3pm kick off and a draw or a Bolton win will keep us top.
I think Scunny will fall away in the next few weeks.

Although I've liked the post I cannot believe that United will win this game bearing in mind we can go top of the League.
It's almost like that game in hand situation that we all seem to love for some strange reason.

Northampton are no mugs

They're not bad. But we need to keep up our dominance against bottom half teams (like Northampton are), cos our record against the better sides isn't great so far.

v. bottom 12: P.12; W.11, D.0, L.1 (Gls. F.28, A.7)

v. top 12: P.11; W.3, D.5, L.3 (Gls. F.14, A.16); and we've not beaten any of the current top 6 sides.

We doing so well up to now by having bullied the lower-placed sides.

3-3 draw,Varadi got 2, Matthews the other, weren't we 2 up at one point?
