There's another UTC featuring a player who was at Southampton, can't remember who he was, but the stories of Carlton Palmer were actually pretty funny.

Sounds funny, and whilst confident he also doesn't seem afraid to take the piss out of himself.

That said, he's also got another side as his multiple guilty charges would testify.

Might have been John Beresford that one. Seemed like a right piss about when they were at Southampton. Think there was another pig there with them too.

Yep, that's it. Yeah probably Gordon Watson.

Beresford is a proper big time bastard as well, he's a Blade though so he's ok. Him and Wilder are pals as well.

There’s some from the earlier days I wish they’d get back on tbh. Would love to have heard more from Michael Brown about his time at United. Seemed to move on to Spurs and Fulham pretty quickly.

Also think Morgan would be good to get back on again after watching the official United one. Think he’d be able to go a bit further with the stories.

Tbh I reckon most footballers are. From what I’ve heard Sharp can be when he’s out and about. Dunno whether it’s just magnified cause they’re footballers or whether they actually are. In fairness tho, if I had that kind of money I don’t even know what I’d be like. I’d like to think I’d still be alright though....

Agreed. I'd probably be a bellend if I was a well paid footballer from a young age and knew nothing different.

It must get annoying when actual grown ups fawn over them when they're out and about, kids fair enough but grown ups should know better.

Never ever give anyone the impression thet they are better than yourself. I've only asked for one autograph in my life ,15 year old and it was Keith Edwards.

I think the internet has proven we’re all bell ends. It’s just that most people are socially conditioned to care about what others think of them and temper their behaviour accordingly. I’ve noticed most successful people aren’t burdened with giving a shit about what others think and have a very strong sense of self belief. So they’ll say things that most people would only dare post on Twitter, they’ll act like we all want to at times but hold back because, basically we’re pussies, too scared of what others think.
And to be a professional footballer, you have to be a bit of a show off, you’re demonstrating your skills in front of thousands of people.

I was working in Brazil and Ronaldo was a customer of the company I was working for. Rumour was that he was going to call in this one day.

I would have done the Wayne’s World “we’re not worthy” had he actually called in.

Totally agree with this.

I really feel uncomfortable when someone addresses me as 'Sir' - I'm no better than anyone else, so they shouldn't act like this, no matter what your superiors have trained you to do.

My Mrs on the other hand....

Played against Beresford a few times, when he was turning out for Wilders team, and he was a proper prick. Couldnt have been more up his own arse. Used to tell us before the game that none of us were good enough to get close to him on the pitch! He was also fairly crap at the game too it seemed! Hirst was a bell when playing, spackman was sound mind, as was waddle. Most ex-pro's ive played against just want to play, they love it that much but some are proper bell ends acting up and being big time when all we are doing is playing on the transport or warminster!

That era definitely spawned a few big timers. I played with Bradshaw and he'd have been around 38/39 at the time, he was still a good player but a proper dick, it was embarrassing some of the stuff he said on the pitch to the opposition strikers (he played CB with me at the time).

I also played against Waddle in a pre season match when he was at Brunsmeer and he was class, I had to man mark him and he coached me through the game whilst making me look a dick at the same time. I was 16 at the time and it really made an impression, he'd have been around 40/41.

Agree about Waddle. He can be a prick especially if mildly provoked, but can also be a class act.

Probably just playing devils advocate here but can imagine it’s difficult to get out of the professional mindset if you’ve spent the last 20 years with the be all and all being your results on the pitch. Most people in park football are there for a laugh, to keep semi fit and then head for a pint afterwards. They will all be at it with the sly comments in the professional game telling the opposition that they are shite. Which makes me find the thing that Gosling has come out and said about Jon Moss even funnier.

Then again they may just be nob heads so who knows. The difference being that at least when they’re giving it large they can probably back it up but it’s hardly going to be a difficult game for them.

They need to get Santos on, in the same room as that twat.
Interesting that he said that Ullathorne told him it was set up by Warnock. I read Warnock's book and I always thought he was lying, because he said he knew if Santos went on that it would kick off, yet still sent him on - Johnson's version doesn't surprise me one bit.

We all know Warnock is a cunt.

Johnson came across as a bit of a billy bullshitter as well though...

My impression of Johnson after listening was that he's "one of the lads". If you are also "one of the lads", you'll love him. If you're not, you'll hate him. That goes for a lot of their guests.

I did enjoy the pod, having said that. One of the better ones they have done recently.
Yeah I liked him but I like characters like that

Kozzy needs to be next

I initially thought that and he was entertaining but unlike some of the previous guests I get the impression that Johnson was just a bit of a bellend.

He was talking about him and one or two other pranksters and it seemed that THEY had a great time, but at the expense of others.

Sounds like he crossed the line a lot and got into a few scrapes with team mates.

Hard to work out from him what was actually true but some of his stories have been backed up by others in previous pods

Latest one features Andy Johnson, former West Brom player and chief protagonist in the 'Battle of Bramall Lane'.

Hear what he has to say on it from 47.30....

Generally sounds a right dickhead.

Of all the videos I've watched over the years of footballers this is right up there as one of the most annoying footballers I've ever heard. He's clearly not looked after himself either post playing, I wouldn't have recognised him to be honest from his playing days.

I noticed how he said "play me gaffer I'm not shirking the game and George Santos" and then a few minutes earlier "I hid behind Mooro for protection at the airport"!

He seems to find it funny more than anything how badly he'd injured Santos. As for that Santos ran into his elbow!? I'm not saying it was deliberate, Johnson doesn't seem that type, that's the only defence I'll give of him, but there was no way that Santos ran into his elbow and end up like he did.

Just watched about 5 minutes of it and had to turn it off. What a cunt!
