We're not going to be included in big national tournaments. We're an hour from Manchester, Birmingham, Leeds, Nottingham.

You normally get a London and Wembley. Liverpool. Manchester. Maybe Birmingham. Newcastle will no doubt get one now. Then, if you include the home nations, each nation will get one. Then maybe the south coast. There are just too many bigger clubs within a small radius.
Agreed. Not sure why we bother doing anything tbh. They shouldn't have even built meadowhall. Would've been better off spending the money on a fuck off great shrine to the other, better cities that surround us and let us wallow in our misery like proper Sheffield folk.

Of course, yes, we have no money and a falling apart training ground but let's throw everything at the stadium on the off chance we can brag about hosting a game while playing in League 1.

Tonight at Rotherham, France were outstanding in beating Italy 5 1.
Atmosphere absolutely crap by comparison with the Lane last night, no vocal support for Italy at all.

Apart from bragging rights v "the pigs", I don't think there's much prestige & legacy for clubs hosting international games. The prestige & legacy is mainly, and correctly, for the cities & towns. I've been to "hundreds" of games across the world watching England. I could reel off the cities easily. But, in only a handful or so would I be able to name the club who play at that stadium.

Didn't our chums down at S6 get a new tier built on their stand for one of these here international tournaments? Courtesy of SCC was the word on the street. Not a bad legacy. Most of the new stadia in France were constructed/rebuilt using Govt money for the Euros in 2016.
Olympic Stadium, West Ham.
If you don't ask you don't get.

One in '66 (Leppings Lane); one in '96 (roof and second tier of the south stand, plus seating and executive boxes etc in the stand). They've also made a lot of money out of hosting the FA Cup Semi Finals and had grants to develop the ground as part of that. Famously some of that money was given after a semi final to build more turnstiles on Leppings Lane after reports of crushing at other Semi Finals and recommendations to get them built. The turnstiles were never built and then the disaster happened.

This was the plan for 2018 when Les Strafford had his begging bucket out: https://www.insidethegames.biz/arti...ednesday-launch-plans-to-revamp-hillsborough-

Meanwhile, in S2, United sold off their best players and went on a descent to the fourth division largely due to a decision to rebuild part of the ground.

Grants for hosting games has played a major part in modern Sheffield football history and the story of both clubs.

One thing that is poor is UEFA and its security obsession. Fucking ridiculous that any bag bigger than A4 is banned from the stadiums.
Rotherham security goons were wanding pensioners and children, but then Rotherham is a shithole.

There must be a large population of people of French and Italian extraction in this region. I expected much greater fan support. Are they just slow to embrace women's football? Would also have helped if they designated "home " and "away" ends so you could get concentrated groups of supporters

Could it be that there is a greater degree of male chauvinism in France and Italy?

I'd have expected loads of Italians to turn up - surprised there so few.

What’s impressive abouts that is whilst you can get a train from Manchester airport it’s still not the most convenient trip and Sheffield isn’t exactly blessed with a wide choice of Accomodation options either. Fair play to them
Not anymore have to change at Piccadilly

Just looking at tickets now for the Netherlands game on Sunday, doesn't seem to be much available. Is that because they release them in blocks?

Also, is there any way of knowing whether I'm going to be sat in with the Netherlands fans or do the fans ignore the allocated seats and congregate together anyway?

I've not been able to watch much of the Euros yet but I watched almost every game of the last World Cup. I'll be going to the BDTBL Semi-Final. Women's football is a great product, very enjoyable when you watch it for what it is and ignore all the agenda pushers in the media trying to compare it to the men's game. It's just different, like League Two is different to the Premier League. No need to compare.

Spot on pommpey.
The skill factor is gradually evening out as no reason woman don't have the capacity to play including tactics..
As you say the physicality is not there to match the men's game.
As a game GermanyvDenmark was 1st class probably as good as it gets at this time in its evolution,No way will we win it Germany,Denmark,Norway are miles ahead of us.

Now go and prove me wrong !! Would be great for the Woman's game if we did.
Well, they have partly proved you wrong in a very big way!

I'd swap Mcburnie for the tea lady ———

The mascot cat

The pigeon that flys around at match days
