(Freeman was subbed at 70 mins. Leeds down to ten men)

Evans needed for the first team because Wilson not recovered from Friday night?

Can see this been the only reason why he would be on the bench at the minute. Think it will be Leon and sharp upfront tomorrow and ched and Donaldson on the bench. Leonard or lundstram will play instead of fleck and that will make space for brooks on the bench as well.

Cant wait to read your blog on this one. Did you manage to keep count of how many were booked and how can the Leeds players follow instructions that are in \spanish?
I think it's Italian. Last game we went to at Thorpe Arch There were two coaches one speaking English and the other Italian. Bizarre.

Leeds' number 2, 6, 8 and 10 were definitely booked, with 2 getting a second yellow for diving.

Having not watched our 'reserves' for 20 odd years I decided to give today a go.

A few observations as follows:

Is it always free to get in it is that only when it's at Stocksbridge?

Play is much better than I expected, reserve team games used to be made up of disgruntled 1st teamers, trialists & youngsters getting kicked all over. The players today all seemed technically gifted who connected well as a team, Jake Wright looked a useful player, as did our number 7, 8 and 10.

Has Veiera had a fall from grace or is he returning from injury

Freeman was clearly returning to fitness, he didn't go lunging in or in for any tough tackles but still looked handy.

Dirty Leeds stretches as far as the under 23's

Who was the guy in the Leeds dugout shouting at all the players in Spanish?

Are there usually that many in attendance?

There was a strange mixture of scouts, oldies who seem to go to most U23 matches, parents of players and ex pros in attendance.

All in all an enjoyable game which we should easily have won 5/6-1.

How that finished 1-1 I'll never know,Jake Wright was excellent todayimage.jpeg

What a game that was.

Dirty Dirty Dirty Leeds as usual and one homegrown player in their starting line up.
All the others bought in over the last 12 months from Ajax, Villarreal and Benfica to name a few.
SUFC with 7 Lads born in Sheffield.

That Stat alone proves the club has got things right.

Great game to be honest. Tackles flying in and good football being played. Possibly too fiesty for Freeman to be comfortable.

Really enjoyed it and a little harsh on SUFC not to take all 3points.

How did their number 6 not get sent off? He did enough to get sent off three times. Did anyone notice the Leeds centre back (No 5?) who seemed to captain openly arguing with their bench? They were a complete shambles. How did Smith miss that knock in? I hate Leeds and their ignorant supporters.

Noticed Slater not in team today, possible in contention for squad tomorrow?

Righto - I've had the hot towels on. I'll endorse a lot of what my colleagues say. What a game that was. How has it ended one each? Chance after chance.
Freeman is not standing out at this level yet - but, none of us will know what he is being briefed - a couple of shit clearances & at least one great chase the channel runner & support him cameo.
Jake Wright Jnr, Tyler Smith & Jordan Hallam all had excellent games
Sam Graham had a right old go at an Alan Woodward traditional wide right role.
The Ref was in danger of losing it a bit - partly all the bookings were down to both teams really, really wanting it - Leeds just went into "professional mode" after a 17mins goal, a bit of a battering & going down to ten some bookings were just niggly...
That was a superb afternoon. More on the Blog if you'd care to.

CarlingBlade glad you enjoyed it. It's very much a development XI rather than an old fashioned Reserve Team. Travis Binnion once said to me "What am I going to do with an experienced pro if they send him over to me?" 7 was Harvey Gilmour - box to box midfielder - usually paired with Regan Slater who was out injured today. 8 was Jordan Doherty - he's been in the Irish U19 system & played EURO Qualifiers. Recently he's been used in a back three to cover injuries, etc. The position he played today (attacking midfield) is his best (opinion). 10 is Jordan Hallam - he's been out on loan at (for eg) Southport - so has played Mesters Football. He's versatile - great in the no. 10 - bit of pace - fox in the box & takes a lot of dead ball kicks for us. That was a typical attendance - although there were more "away fans" than normal. "Oldies who seem to go to most U23 matches" - Fuck off - Oldies.... how dare you. Glad you enjoyed it - see you up there next Monday. (yes it's always free up at Stocksbridge for the Academy U23 - Season tickets or £3 when it's at The Lane)

The goal:

Nice goal that, something we must be working hard on in training. What with the Billy goal against Leeds, the great chance for Baldock against Leicester and that today just in the last week shows us what we’re working on as a club in training, amongst other things of course.

The pull back to someone holding their run or someone sneaking in from the blindside seems to have happened a lot recently for it to be a coincidence.

Certainly was a game and a half but I still do not know how we missed so many clear chances and then Jake scoring with a really difficult one. The front three certainly worked hard but it was so unusual for Ti and Jordan to miss so many openings, I would have bet money that they would have scored 2 or 3 each. Suppose they have to leave their shooting boots in the pavilion at some time.
Thought the back three worked well although the Leeds number 9 gave Hennegan a game but he improved as the game went on. The other 2 were excellent Semple back as the out from the back and Grahams run and cross for the goal was impressive.
All in all a great game and all credit to the Leeds lads who are instructed in a foreign language. Travis even had difficulty disagreeing with the opposition bench and the ref was bemused with them as well
