As I said Phil he's a .clever player and given time he maybe bridge the gap. He's a bit lightweight and needs to bulk up a bit which he will. And I am a BIG Jordan Hallam fan. He's not all flair like Diego, Brooks & even Stephen Mallon. He's a very rounded player. Great on dead balls. Whips 'em in from wide. Simple approach to direct free kicks. Pick a spot. Hit a spot. Beat the wall. Don't start it way wide & hope for draw & fade. Aim at the goal. The U23s are very flexible in positions. Jordan often plays the 10. He's a multi trick pony. He'll play League Football imho. Maybe not at The Lane though.
Don't beleave we block progress by bringing journey men in as to throw these young players ( and they're very young ) into the first team would be a disaster and Wilder realises that..
Having come from 1st division we lacked
championship experience so mixing very young players with what we had could have been overwhelming for the team.
Outstanding young talent would probably shine in the team right now as Brooksy did,but no one with that kind of talent comes through everyday so we have to be patient ,some real quality could be coming through but can't be rushed and beleave Wilder would love to turn a team out with mainly home grown talent after all he's a life long blade and playing for your club is a dream most players never see ,I trust Wilder knows when to blood a young player.
