A thoroughly deserved victory, which should have been more comfortable.
For 15 mins either side of the break we were superb, and should have been out of sight, but we dropped deeper as the game progressed, without Warhurst having too much to do, until the 97th min, when a long ball put the dangerous Pontichelli in, he seemed to hesitate, I think it was Charlesworth who got back and bundled him to the ground.
The ground held it`s breath, but the referee gave nothing, and Warhurst fell on the ball, a melee ensued, resulting in a couple of yellow cards.
Warhurst 6 Shaky first half, got away with a couple of clangers
Charlesworth 8 Fantastic game, up & down and some vital tackles, his last & best game for us.
Cantrill 7 Steady, looking solid as a centre back after starting life as a full back.
Graham 8 Colossus at the back, dominant in the air
Davies 8 What a prospect, picked up from Non league, strong quick and aggressive, with some quality crosses going in.
T Smith 8 Worked his socks off, moments of quality, and his shot saved lead to Hallam`s winner.
Gilmour 7 Loves a tackle this lad, gave everything.
Slater 7 Another whole hearted display, came off after winning a tackle when he took the lot out.
Hirst 6 Battled for the cause, slightly out of position.
Hallam 6 Match winner, but otherwise quiet.
Parkhouse 8 His best game yet, immense in the air, quick, and decent on the deck, a real chance this lad in the game.
Cameron Hawkes came on for Hirst with 20 left, and shored it up, some committed challenges, with Ford(85)/Slater & Greaves 91(Smith) also getting on the pitch.
All in all a good night, and nice to see another Trophy lift, Parkhouse will have to work on the `champagne` spray though!
A nice touch was all the squad went up, including the released Jo Cummings who has just signed a 2 year pro deal at Charlton Athletic.
IF Slater was the No 8 then I thought he came off with cramp in both legs. IMO a really good prospect with vision, a good pass and worked his gonads off. He earned the cramp and was my MOTM. Horatio was fast but seemed to drift in and out and our no 10 seemed to always 'exagerate' when he was fouled. This turned the ref against him.
Yes I believe so.Charlesworth looked excellent - has he been released?
Adam Virgo was the ref?My first view of the youngsters, but knew most of them after all the excellent reports on here.
Some potential, but great effort from all. Nice to see them in black boots - some of the Cov players looked laughable with their multi-coloured boots and diving.
Comical refereeing from the David Walliams lookalike.
A great touch by the players and staff that Callum Semple lifted the trophy along side Regan Slater. Although he has a serious injury it was fantastic to see him with all the boys and being kept involved. As a watcher of the 18s and 23s it was nice to see.
Wilder really has got our club together with a real local feel about it with proper Blades in charge that know how to look after their own and knows what this club means to us all. It showed last night that as a club we are well and truly on the up.
Can i also just add that of last nights squad of 16 we had 13 lads who are all born and raised in Sheffield. I don't mean born in Barnsley, Chesterfield, Rotherham or any other surrounding town, they were born in SHEFFIELD. That is very impressive.
If you add one of the brightest hopes in Callum Semple who was not involved last night you can make that number 14 genuine homegrown lads coming through the ranks. That last paragraph does make me feel very proud,we had the Lisbon Lions 50 years ago,now we have Gearys Guerillas
Yes I know I'm going overboard comparing one of the greatest sporting acheivments to our boys winning a u18 trophy, but the sun is shining and all is well in Bladesworld
Not sure I like the phrase 'genuine Sheffield people'. Does that mean people from Stocky, Dronny, Hope Valley, Eckington etc can fuck off?If you add one of the brightest hopes in Callum Semple who was not involved last night you can make that number 14 genuine homegrown lads coming through the ranks.
That seems to fit in with Wilders thinking. Add that to the upward direction the first team are going and the club really are a genuine Sheffield Club for genuine Sheffield people.
Almost posted that myself. No but if you start using the term 'local people' you get this image...View attachment 26829

I agree. I'd love to discuss this further but I need to go to my lock up and meet Terry. We can just about suffer them but it's the Sheperds Bush and Indonesian Blades that get my goat.

It's the only VAT I'll be dealing with. A large VAT, go easy on the ice.Sounds tough. You will have earned a drink in the Winchester after that. Tell Dave to make it a large one.
Why would i tell people brought up in Sheffield to fuck off if they happen to live in Dronny, Hope Valley, Eckington or Stocky? Sheffield people live all over the country and further a field. Not sure I like the phrase 'genuine Sheffield people'. But what constitutes a 'genuine Sheffield person' then? Do you have to be born in Sheffield? Why would i tell people brought up in Sheffield to fuck off if they happen to live in Dronny, Hope Valley, Eckington or Stocky? Sheffield people live all over the country and further a field.

My take on the game.
Agree with most of above opinion - we deserved to win.
First 30, pretty cagey affair
We stepped it up to half time and deserved to be in front. Keeper error for goal and he did make a few all game.
Cov stepped it up 2nd half a bit, but we were resolute all over the place.
Cov's captain (no 8) was half decent - their No 9 has apparently played for the first team. We had a Scottish fella sat in front (Cov supporter) who said that as a team, Cov will play next season at the Ricoh, but there is turmoil as to where all of the juniors/academies will play - seems they don't have a home.
Cov should have had a penalty in 4th minute of injury time. 2nd half - although to be fair, the No 9 fouled our centre half to get the chance in the first place with a push in the back. Our view was that he was dropped when about to pull the trigger but ref was miles behind play and could not have seen it at all. The No 9 was devastated after the final whistle - seemed to be crying because of the incident.
All in all - we deserved to win and should have scored more - the Cov keeper was not very good.
My nipper thought Cov tried to overplay a bit too much, where as we were better at what we did all over the place - so that's well done for Del's boys in coaching them the right way.
Standout player for me - No 7, Tyler Smith - just seems to possess what's need to progress.
The trophies just keep on coming................well done lads.
