I don't see the problem with this. As someone else has pointed out, they already make 10 times the revenue we do because they are bigger clubs with more fans. Such is life. I'm only suggesting doing this for one season. We already sell our games to fans outside of the UK, I'm not sure what the difference is? It's just like iFollow and the clubs with the most fans get the most money?

Sorry, I thought you meant long term. But then you would assume selling live matches via the internet won’t allow it under the terms of the TV deal.

In the long term I wouldn’t mind soccer Saturday going down the route of NFL red zone. Maybe not show the 3pm games live but at least show the goals or key incidents. Thats not going to stop the majority of fans going to games

The problem with clubs selling their own matches is that the likes of Man U, Liverpool etc. will make at least 10 times the revenue from selling their matches than we would. There needs to be a continuation of TV rights being sold by the Premier League with the revenue being distributed evenly. Anything else and the competitiveness of the league will suffer.

The future has to be a Netflix style Premier League streaming service.

Sky Germany you subscribe to your club, then you get all your clubs matches and the best pick of each matchday, also German fans pay like £20 a matchday ticket. They had no issue and stadiums always full to capacity. That model has been going years and it works perfectly. That’s because of vorsprung durch tecknik. Copy it. Das auto ya !

I’m a couple of years away from getting regular away tickets (I’ve only managed Norwich and Brighton this year) so would happily pay an annual subscription to watch all the away games.

What we need is a middle man to take care of registrations, subscriptions and streaming the match to us from the broadcaster.

I wouldn’t mind paying about a tenner a match for this or 100 quid for the season as long as the money correctly spread out.

Quid for the middle man, 4 for the broadcaster, 3 for the home team and a couple of quid for the away team sounds about right.

This would suit me perfectly as I couldn’t care less about any other sports and I’m not too fussed about watching anyone other than the Blades, so I don’t have a sports channel subscription. That means its all extra revenue for the broadcasters.

Just needs a few million like me and it might just happen.

Maybe it’d be a worthwhile venture for the Premier League - as there’ll usually be more demand than supply for match-day tickets.
But maybe not for the other leagues where they want people through the gates & spending money on ale, pies & programmes.
As you say, issues both ways but invariably when technology moves forward, it rarely moves backwards again.
Concorde is a notable exception.

Agree technology never moves backwards once developed. Regarding Concorde, there were aircraft flying as fast and faster before Concorde albeit they didn't carry passengers. So the technology was there, is still there, just the running costs/fare pricing and an unfortunate, avoidable, accident that scuppered the project.
Getting back to the subject in hand, as you say the tech. is there.
Pity the Premier League and the Football League couldn't get together and use it to broadcast there games thus cutting out the T/V companies with all monies enhancing "football" alone.
After saying that I recon the biggest stumbling block would be human nature/frailty or to put it succinctly greed.

Any further moves away from the collective bargaining model should be challenged, as it's probably the most important fight we'll have to face now we're up here with the likes of Man Utd, Liverpool and Arsenal. This is what stops our league becoming like Spain and in particularly Germany where competition is a novelty for a few months before Bayern just beat everyone else due to their depth.
I fully understand why the big clubs want more, but it's killing the golden goose because it's what keeps everyone so interested in watching it.

With the lock down came unprecedented live TV coverage of every game through Sky/BT & Amazon. With a third full capacity for each ground next season already being suggested then the live TV coverage will continue. Then when everything gets back to normal and grounds are at full capacity (apart from the pigs, sorry couldn't resist) I can see the precedent being set that live TV of every game will continue with more money than ever going to the clubs.

I can see loads in favour of this and loads not being in favour but it could be that this happens as a way forward and probably starting with the Premier league. How its done is anyones guess but there are already mutterings about this

Its speeded all the Tech up like working from home...tings are changing like it or not

Whats your thoughts?

If we are at third capacity next season I doubt tv income will rise more like reduce as the product will still be an inferior one

I went to a non league game Tuesday night - only 315 in, but it felt SO much more like real football than the stuff on TV. Cold, misty night, queue at the turnstile, tray of chips, a bit of noise from the ‘crowd‘ - it was great. And we scored in the second minute

I’d much sooner pay a tenner for that experience than watching a quasi training game on the box.

Time to let the people back in, make your own decision whether you or anybody you will have unavoidable contact with is vulnerable or not. Don't cry about it if you kill somebody you love. This is about nothing more than the economy, get it back on it's feet, go back to work...hang on why am I even putting my views when the government continue to clusterfuck along and yet despite everybody's complaints will still be voted in at the next election because there was a picture of 'Boris looking sad sat on some steps'.
