Chris Wilder's reign as Blades boss is underway and he's made his first changes off the field.


Joining him and assistant manager Alan Knill at Bramall Lane will be Northampton Town's Head of Sports Science Matt Prestridge.


Chris commented: "Matt has been outstanding for me, in terms of number of days players train; statistically, we had a fantastic record last season at Northampton and although there are always going to be injuries, we need to keep the players as fit as possible, motivated and ready for action.


"Alan, Matt and myself work very closely as a team but it's not insular, all the staff have a part to play.


"It's about the football club getting the results we need every Saturday and Tuesday. The staff have a part to play, it is a group effort, not just about the 11 that go out on to the pitch."


Meanwhile, Head of Recruitment Lee Turnbull and Strength and Conditioning Coach Lee McMahon will both leave the club.


Chris added: "We wish Lee and Lee well with their careers, it is part of the restructuring plan going forward."

What a total joke the appointment of Turnbull was. He was sold to the fans by Adkins as this awesome scout/head of recruitment, however since he joined the Blades he managed to do nothing of any value.We ended up with Adkins old pals such as Hammond and Woolford and dodgy loan signings, Baptiste apart.
Another horrendous decision by Adkins to bring him in. Glad he's gone along with his mate Adkins, good riddance to the lot of them. What a total waste of money, the whole lot of that management team have been.

It's hard to know whether Turnbull was useless or that Adkins signed none of his suggestions. I remember reading that Adkins didn't want to sign Hooper for Scunthorpe but Turnbull persuaded him to.

Would love to know the processes involved in how Wilder constructed his side at Northampton. Did they already have a scouting network in place? Did Wilder himself hire a chief scout & leave it to him to coordinate the scouting? Did Wilder just go out & look at players himself, along with Knill & others?

Would genuinely like to know his thinking on this & about the processes he's worked within before.

However he did it, somehow doubt it will have involved him just employing a mate from way back in the past & then embarrassingly (& unsuccessfully) chasing round a Dan Burn-type for 6 months or more.

I think the problem was that they did the strength and conditioning class just before kick off, so they were all knackered, except for Sharp, who wagged it and went for a fag behind the bike sheds instead.
