Jesus Christ it has been a boring week on the forum. A mixture of the international break, lack of action in the transfer/loan market and general apathy seem to have sucked the life out of the forum. Boo and Dunc’s are trying to combine the ‘knockers’ constant negativity with their own positive ramblings. Perhaps it is because we are awful at the moment that the tumbleweed has been streaming through the pages of S24su.

So back to business: we have 3 games in a week, but does anyone think that we’ll get anything out of them? A home game against relegated Burnley seems to have come at the wrong time and that is followed by difficult trips to Hull and Donny. Personally I think we’ll get a couple of points at best. Burnley are simply a much better side than us and Doncaster are likely to pass us of the park. Perhaps we’ll pick up a point away at Hull (a 0-0er maybe) but if we go behind then it is curtain. Speed has had a couple of weeks extra with the team and I’d be hoping for improvements, but the lack of quality doesn’t inspire me. Will we even score in the next few games never mind pick up points?

Not that I’ll be going to any of the games mind. Don’t worry I’ll still be moaning afterwards, whatever the result. You’ve probably seen from the ‘shed update’ thread that I have more pressing things to do with my time. As Dunc say’s ‘there’s more to life than SUFC’, although his mucker Boo seems to think that you only consist to be a real fan if you go to all the games (and have blind faith in the manager). I might get to watch the Donny match, if our lass let’s me put the TV in the garden. She reckons it distracts me n all that. Guess it depends how much I get done and if Keenzy comes to help me.

Birch clearly said investment would be about 6 weeks until we heard anything which makes it December 6th at the earliest, but then again patience isn't something we are overly blessed with.

Ah yes, the straight talking Trevor Birch, I was wondering how to describe him and now you've found me the answer, cheers Bob (you're not taking the piss are when you say 'clearly said'?)

I wish I could get paid £350k per annum for flying to Asia and meeting a few businessmen with somewhat mysterious backgrounds, some people have all the luck.

Having said I am told he single handedly got investment in a London club with some incredibly prime real estate and a squad full of talented players so I'm sure he can do the same for us, good luck Trevor.

Judging by Birch's comments today there ain't no investment anywhere near.
Which is odd given all those assets we have and all those foreign clubs. Can't understand why they're not biting our hands off.

What defines a real fan is open to all sorts of debate. What's surely not debatable is that you have far too many in depth opinions of something you have very little first hand knowledge of. It's not a dig, though it will sound like one - It's just that I can't believe anyone could put so much energy into writing about something they can't be bothered to watch.

and today's article in the Stir:

"SHEFFIELD United chief executive Trevor Birch has revealed the Championship club are continuing to hold talks with a Malaysian businessman aimed at delivering foreign investment to Bramall Lane.

But Birch last night conceded those discussions are "unlikely" to be concluded during the October 'window' directors initially laid down after making contact with the individual concerned.

"The talks are ongoing," Birch told The Star. "But nothing is imminent.

"When we previously spoke of a time-frame, it was never set in stone. It wasn't a cut-off point.

"These things are never as strict as that. That would be the wrong thing to do. We are continuing to talk and we will see what happens."

As The Star exclusively announced in August, United were approached by the entrepreneur, who subsequently attended their league fixture with Queens Park Rangers, during a football convention in the Far East.

The exact sum he proposed to hand over remains a secret but sources involved in those negotiations have described it as a "significant" amount which, should an agreement be reached, would be used to strengthen Gary Speed's first -eam squad.

However, United's hierarchy have been at pains to stress that talk of a takeover is wide of the mark, with chairman Kevin McCabe still retaining overall control of their affairs.

Meetings are also believed to have taken place with a number of other parties from the region keen to explore the possibility of helping United regain the Premier League status they lost three years ago.

United's portfolio of global partnerships, which includes interests in China, Hungary and Australia, is known to have been a valuable tool in the search to unearth fresh revenue streams.

On the pitch, Speed hopes Chris Morgan and Ched Evans will both be available to face Burnley on Saturday.

Morgan has missed three games with a hamstring problem while Evans' involvement was thought to be in doubt when he withdrew from the Wales squad for their latest round of Euro 2012 qualifiers.

"Morgs is back with us," the Lane boss said."

Aye, we're convinced, really........:D

There is a rumour around saying KM wants to sell his interest in Hungary

Interesting, although there's only actually Chengdu that's owned by us. I suspect we'll never get to know who paid the wages, travel, accomodation and expenses of all the United players and officials that spent time over there. No doubt any investment we get will be pinned on these tie ups and I'll have to eat humble pie - though the pigs seemed to have managed it with nothing more than debt attached to them.

The 23rd September announcement was a strange one (as you so quickly pointed out at the time len, fair play).

It did also say that the investment would provide funds for strengthening the team. As that can't happen until January anyway, I would suggest there are more pressing things for you to stay gloomy about.

I'm a bit surprised you haven't managed to put a positive spin on the imminent investment at S6, that would be rich pickings for you I reckon?

It's hilarious stuff, ain't it.
Apart from delivering no fresh revenue streams and at least one of them definitely not being part of United's portfolio, it's bang on.

I ain't gloomy about it Trig, it's just comical.

Except for last time we had this discussion, it was made fairly obvious that a number of our most recent sponsorship deals were on the back of the "global" Blades profile. But I'd rather not get into that one again.

Ooooh someone said Revenue Streams. Isn't it about time we chatted about centricity and synchrinicity along with a bit of KPI, CTI but mostly BS.

Nothing to write home about, nothing happening apart from someone dangling a piece of string in front of kittens for them to bat around in search of something positive to say.

Until the day someone signs on the dotted line and we see hard cash injected into the first team, signalling the end of short arms McCabe I won't be convinced.

They do say the 188Bet sponsorship is as a result of "international profile". It could be true, it could be spin. I suppose we shoud give the club the benefit of the doubt there.

Aren't all sponsorship deals made on the back of the "massive" profile that a club has though? I am yet to hear a sponsor say "We have signed up with *********** because they are on the slide and have a tight fisted chairman and no vision of the future." Not going to happen is it?

Out of interest how massive is our profile outside of Chengdu town centre?

are you still rambling away incoherently Boo. Somewhere between idiocy, philospophy and clap-ology!? Geez.

I suggest you learn to understand peoples posting properly before you start calling.

Yes, they couldn't pay up quick enough because we own Chengdu Blades.
Beats me how come they're not rushing to invest Foxy, it's just so perplexing when we have all these amazing 'revenue streams' and a global profile.
We didn't all come down in the last shower.

I know, it's unbelievable isn't it? I mean "they" are queuing up to throw money into football clubs that won't allow themselves to be raped for a quick profit, the world is over-run by them. It's probably that they all read the Star and we aren't advertising in there? ;)

You lost me Foxy, is this making your point that we are big in Chengdu, or that we are a massive global enterprise. Or making the point you don't want to go through the entire sharade again?

If it's the latter I would like to hazard a guess that this topic will run and run. With good reason as well :)

But Foxy, not only do we advertise in the Star but we also get them to write articles suggesting all kinds of David Brent guff about revenue streams, global interests, family of clubs which if anyone heard in any other walk of life they'd automatically know was bull but some strangely decide to suspend their sense of disbelief because it's United.

Honestly?.....nothing Saturday, a draw at Hull and a draw at Donny. Thats my realistic and honest prediction. With a bit of luck and a good showing, they might surprise me and win Saturday. I have my doubts though.....we're up against it at the moment.
