My first post was tongue-in-cheek, I'm sure you knew that. I can only say what I've seen in him, I'd be surprised if he turned it around in the English game. I personally don't think you'll hear or see him again on the big stage.

Basel is a good move for him though, he gets to play in Switzerland's top division in front of 35-40k fans each week. UTB
Norwegians famously don't get sarcasm.

Or is that Americans?

Ridiculous decision to sign him for that fee. Another example of just how piss poor our recruitment has been over the last couple of years. Underfunded re scouting network available and analytical information, in all probability yes. But fuck a doodle doo, even opening your fucking eyes occasionally would have helped. I mean, Grbic.... c'mon.

I feel for the lad, but be was never going to be what we needed. I place that blame firmly with the Prince, Hecky, and blind as a bat Paul Mitchell who seems to have been stealing a living for a few years. Water under the bridge now, but we absolutely have to be much better now in recruitment. Across the business as a whole.

Why does Traore need to be replaced, we didn't have him for half of last season and no one was clamouring for him to be replaced then.

Would he not have played in some capacity if staying? He played preseason so there’s obviously a plan for him.

Even if at a squad level, they still need replacing.

He wants replacing because he was currently filling the place in the squad that we gave to BBD in the second half of last season.
I forgot about BBD somehow. Still we’ve probably already signed his replacement in someone who is 3 x Traore’s size

It’s blindingly obvious that we already are better in recruitment or did you miss the Moore and O’Hare signings?

Rumours saying were making profit on him which is good. Think problem was with illiman going late In window he was a panic buy that didn't work

Basically got the money back for him, if you include what fee nantes will have paid to loan him too

Osula. Marsh. Any other striker from the U-21s. He was a complete and utter flop.

Based on being dropped into an underprepared and shit side in one of the worlds hardest divisions?

Osula and Marsh you mention, what did they do in that situation? Shall we sell them too?

True. Pleased that we have basically got our money back. Although, it didn't help us one jot last season though when we needed to be bang on with the limited money we had available (remember PH telling us all that they were going to make every available penny from our transfer budget count last summer).

He wasn't going to keep us up anyway but he was so far away from being what we needed it was just a really poor signing. No physique, no real footballing brain, too young, and it tied up about £4m of our finite transfer budget. The fact that he only played 9 times and CW binned him pretty much straight away tells you everything that to need to know.

I wish his well with his career. Money back with his move to Basel and the club moves on. Lessons to be learnt though. Was a punt but genuinely after watching him for a few minutes, I had serious doubts on him.

Yup. Even in pre season it was Der….wtf? In the meantime Blaster looked the part and got loaned out.

It's a shame because there is a player in there, he just wasn't anywhere near ready for the level he was being asked to play.

Not his fault at all, and he at least looked like he wanted to be here on the few occasions he did play.

I think he could have had a decent season in the champ, but if we can make a few quid it's probably best for all concerned to shake hands and part ways.

Good look Bennie.

Given the dismissive attitudes on here, it’s slightly ironic that (if this goes ahead), he’ll be playing in Europe and challenging for domestic honours.

Agreed, he does need to bulk up a bit as well if he intends to keep playing as a striker. Against Stuttgart in pre-season their defenders just picked him up and moved him out of the way.

In retrospect it’s incredible just how bad the recruitment was last season - Hamer excepted no one was up to the levels required and it wasn’t even close

We basically got nothing out of

Davies - crocked all season (unsurprisingly)
larouchi - Dogshit and found out immediately
Slimani - never involved
Thomas - found out immediately
grbic - looks like he’s never played before
holgate - Meh
Souza - didn’t want to be here
Traore - Looked like an under 15 playing against men.

This seasons recruitment so far seems much more focused. Touch wood - the players look to have been recruited for the task in hand rather than being wild gambles or cheap flyers that were never going to work.

Another out to allow a more suited player in.
No hard feelings, he tried his best.
GLTTL.

He’ll have a decent career in the European leagues if he can bulk up a bit.

Shame it didn’t work out for him. He put a shift in and did what was asked, unlike a few others last season.
