What happened to all our overseas contacts:
Estudiantes (although we all know that the signing of Parrino didn't work out!)
Fenerbahce (nothing other than a friendly!)
Malaga (surely our recent friendly against them should have helped?)
Others?
Surely there should be potential for loans????

I think we will all be pleasantly surprised and we will bring in 2 / 3 new faces and will be all at good fee's, that is me feeling very optimistic.

the real question is how many will we need in Jan, as that will be dependant on how far up or how far down the table we are.

wot u seen or erd ere den pal, do expand m8

Well all I know is is that he didn't start the evening with the rest of the lads, he prefered the bright lights of his GF and West 10. When he did bump into the players later, I can't say what happened and who did what (as I didn't see that) and they might have been helping him but some of the players had to walk him out of the Kettle Black, against his will.

Fingers crossed and pray to the Lord Jim.

JimPhipps ? We need Mormon luck from Utah ? Are you proposing some sort of new, football-themed private faith for balding blokes with specs ?

My actual predictions for us:
Hanson - Scunthorpe, undisclosed
Brayford - Burton, undisclosed

Corrected for ya !

Mention will be made of ambition. With reference to Liverpool or Man City (or, possibly, Stockport County).

Hopefully we can do one today. Don't like the odds of us completing the 2/3 we need tomorrow!

Not to be too negative but I wonder if we're now regretting pissing about for months waiting for Leonard/lenihan and not just getting them over the line.

Jim White will spontaneously combust.

Most used phrase of the night will be "getting the deal over the line"

Harry Redknapp will talk to reporters from the window of his Range Rover.

Hayley McQueen will get tired, and decide she needs to use my face as a bench.

I'll have a punt on the identity of our incomings as well:

Sam Field - loan
Joe Lolley - 800k
Jerome Sinclair - loan

Just in case I'm right.

If United give away Brayford for nothing I will not be best pleased.

If we can save his salary for the rest of the season it's saving money as he's clearly not part of the squad How much is anyone's guess because it apparently doubled on promotion so a million?

Plus he's now causing trouble on nights out, or he could be as someone there didnt quite see the full story.

Didn't someone post a Twitter link showing them out in Leeds?

It's really actually not though is it?

All about perception and expectation. I’d say McCabe’s most proficient tendency has been a failure to manage expectation. In fact, he builds it and then the investment that does come tends to leave people deflated or in some cases angry. He has spoke about having a competitive championship budget. We don’t know the micro-detail of the finances of each club but it’s clear to see that financially, we are a million miles behind a sizeable chunk of the division (Birmingham reportedly paying Sam Gallagher £43k per week, Wolves, Boro, Pigs, Villa, Derby, Norwich, Sunderland, Hull, Leeds, Bristol City, Cardiff, Reading, Fulham, Brentford, Forest, etc. all with budgets that blow us out the water). Realistically, that leaves us competing with Barnsley, Bolton, Burton, Millwall, Preston, Ipswich and at a push QPR in terms of spending power.

I think based on what has been said in the press, people were probably expecting maybe about 3 players in the £1-2 million each bracket when last season ended plus a couple of cheap/free lower league players (like Stevens, Thomas etc.). We’ve had Stearman come in around the million pound mark so far. The rest of our team all cost less than that (save for the outbound Brayford). When you compare with the division we’re in it’s remarkable we’ve made the start we have.

All that said, the facts don’t lie. McCabe has been pumping money into the club for years to fund our losses. He has invested. Just not at a level that many would consider “competitive” in the championship. It also doesn’t help that the market has gone absolutely fucking mental of late.

My prediction is that we’ll bring a forward or two in but they’ll look underwhelming on paper. But I also predict that Wilder will get something out of whoever he brings in to make a positive contribution.

S24SU Deadline Day bingo:

"worth a punt"

"would've liked him here"

"___ months left on his contract"

"versatile"

"release clause"

"the type we'd go for"

"maybe one for January"

"will only increase in value"

"Redknapp"

"fucking mental fee"

"black pace"

And they're just things I'll say.

Yes, you can all laugh and take the piss but I bet you weren't laughing when the same lack of investment from the board got us relegated out of the premier league. Hil-fucking-arious it was, wasn't it!

Was that lack of investment or just money badly spent? And no, I was livid.
Both. But you can't buy Marks and Spencer's quality if you're only given enough to shop at Farm Foods.

Could be right. I simply can't remember what he spent that season. Just recall a shit January. Hopefully the owner(s) have learnt from history, but whilst KM wealth was competitive many years ago it has remained fairly static compared to player value and wage inflation. Rock and hard place.

£12m net. £3m for the future. I assumed at the time he meant ours.
