Actually you can get around the UK on French and German rail and to London !!!

Lots of trains start in Leeds to London coming through Donny ,alternatives include Sheffield to Birmingham then on to London ,or manc to Euston .network rail aren't bothered

I’ve learned previously, that waiting grumpily on a bus whilst traffic builds up, because one or two of the group have decided to “watch the others celebrate”, go shopping or find someone to punch isn’t a good time

Getting there by train isn't the problem getting home on the same day is where it gets difficult you have two trains out of KingsX after that you spend the night on Derby station or maybe Doncaster and pick up a connection next morning.
