Tourists next season

All advertisments are hidden for logged in members, why not log in/register?

Loyalty points will be even more important next seasons to reward those to have been with us in the dark times as well as the great times.

They were on general sale under the early bird offer.
I didn't renew and bought one, and a few lads I know have never had them before but have now, 1 is a Man u fan infact
 
Renewed, 404 early bird on the WEstfield, however I'll be looking at moving more towards South Stand.... I hate not being able to see the away fans.

I think the lower tier actually holds about 2,900, but most teams were allocated around 2k because it was completely necessary to segregate almost a third of the stand.

I'm sure those completely necessary measures will be magically avoided next season though, and we'll sell the whole lower tier finally.

P.S. Has anyone ever tried to find out more about this mythical 'Sheffield Advisory Group'? I have Googled them but no information really exists about them. I really don't think it would do them any harm if they publicised a little more about who they are, what their aims are and what influence they have over clubs. Because at the moment it is just some shadowy organisation telling us and Wednesday we can't sell all of the seats in our stadium for pretty flimsy reasons.

According to this article in The Star, 'Sheffield District Commander and temporary Chief Superintendent Shaun Morley revealed South Yorkshire Police have no say in the amount of tickets given to fans and how many must be withheld for segregation purposes'. So it must be the work of the SAG if he is to be believed.
 
my son was not alert enough (teenager) and missed the early bird. partly idleness, partly skint and he assumed he could renew later with his birthday money as he usually does. I asked on his behalf after the early bird cut off and was told that basically he will be very lucky if his seat has not gone to a new season ticker already. He has been in the same seat for 3 seasons with his mates round him. They are all off to Uni next season and haven't renewed. We will keep our fingers crossed. I can't make all the games during a season due to external pressures ( work, childcare etc) but do take our youngest to those we can. He was desperate for a season ticket this time but we will try and get to some matches in the BLUT. I don't feel entitled to a ticket just because I've been going for over 50 years, through thick and thin, but it would be nice to be able to get to some of the matches with my lads. My wife idly suggested that I buy 3 season tickets together . Our young en got very excited and had to tell him that the chances of 3 tickets, together, with an actual view of the whole pitch would be a miracle. Also the chance of me being available to take him to more than 1/3rd of the games would also be a miracle. I've had to upgrade our sky package accordingly so at least we'll be able to watch most of the games .

Yeah the numbers were rough numbers, someone did say what the lower tier holds last week but I’ve drank a lot of brain cells away.

As for SAG, they’re a great mystery. I read that quote a while ago and perhaps it’s misleading. I always thought the police were part of SAG along with the council, Sheffield United and Wednesday.
 
Current season tickets holder will still be given an opportunity to renew their existing seat for a period. Also, any remaining seats will also be on sale for new buyers In both cases this will be at a higher price than the Early Bird offer. There will then be a period where anyone who has purchased a season ticket will have the opportunity to move seats. Finally, any seats that are remaining will be available for sale for new buyers. At least that is how it has worked for the last 45 years.

I'd try again with the suggestion that as the National Security Council was now having it's meetings "leaked" from the highest possible level, that a tin pot organisation like this should be a bit more open in its business.

Open up, or close down should be the motto.
 



I worked at the council over 10 years ago, and knew the bloke who was part of the SAG (Safety Advisory Group). Back then, and things no doubt will have changed, each game (or event) had to granted permission to go ahead, effectively a 'licence' was given for each game. Each club (or event organiser) had to present to the relevant stakeholders their plan for the game (number of tickets likey to be sold, available on the day, numbers of stewards, numbers of first aiders on site, ambulances on site, medical equipment, preferred exit points, emergency exits, number of police) and the stakeholders involved either granted the licence or would ask for changes i.e. less tickets for away fans, need more or less police. This then went back and forth until the SAG was satisfied the game/event was as safe as reasonably possible and then a 'licence' would be granted.

A few weeks ago Bolton nearly had a game called off because the number of stewards planned to be in attendance was lower than required. They sorted it in the end by putting the required number on. i know the SAG, quite rightly at times, gets a bashing, but its there to ensure safety of any major event in the city. A bit of transparency would go a long way.

No idea if it still runs in the same way as a lot of staff got made redundant post 2010 (and i no longer work there), but prior to then it was quite an effective group.

The reason it receives a bashing is because their away ticket allocations make no logical sense.

It’s natural to assume it’s based on risk and saftety, so one would assume they assign matches to a risk category A, B or C.

I don’t know the exact figures but why would we give Reading 2,110 tickets, Wednesday 2,205 tickets, Rotherham 2,250 ticket, Villa 2,290 and Derby 2,150 tickets.

The amount we give away fans has no logical pattern and always changes each and every match.

You're forgetting that the algorthim for the allocation includes x.

No idea, wouldnt have a clue. The one that did seem daft this season was leeds at home. They'd have sold out the upper tier easily, but werent given it despite the ground being 8/9000 under capacity.

Wont really matter next season, 2500 - 2800 will be given to each club or whatever the bottom holds, and bar the southamptons, watfords, palace, most will likely sell out

I moved my ticket from Kop to BLUT to sit with family, atmosphere up there was good, not as good as the Kop but then it was never going to be.

I'm surprised the support at Stoke hasn't had a bashing (may have missed it) despite half the crowd not being remotely regular fans.

Helped a number get tickets this season for the Forest game. All in Blades regalia. More the merrier imo.
