Fuck sake, it's Christmas and ..................

I for one will be glad when its over. Everything hurts from over indulgence and that fucking six foot christmas tree has to come down in a few days and every bastard stupid glass ornament my wife has accumulated over 22 years will have to be packed away and put back up the loft. I have to chop the bastard into manageable lengths to burn whilst thinking what a waste of £55.00. In the meantime all the food you haven't managed to eat goes past its sell by date and is wasted and all the stuff you have eaten requires copious amounts of omeprazole or similar to stop your gut burning to death.

So you miserable twats carry on. I'm with you on this.

We were gash first half weren't we.

We were gash first half weren't we.

No. Not in my opinion. As per my previous post Oldham set up well against us in the first half. Their front two did a Done on our back line whilst their midfield pushed up and gave the midfield no space to work. If your definition of gash is that Lafferty wouldn't get forward, Freeman kept misplacing passes and going sideways and there wasn't the same drive and urgency we normally play with then yes it was gash but I give credit to the opposition for making it so. Teams normally come and park the bus and hit us on the break. They don't usually come and actively disrupt in more ways than one as Oldham did. I was impressed because they made it so shit.

I can see where you are coming from, because I said early on to my mates, that we were never going to score in a month of Sundays with the way we were playing and there was a rocket coming at half time. However, as stated I think that the way we were playing had a lot to do with Oldham.

Thankyou for agreeing with me.
BTW, I was just arsing about with my post above. Just getting in spirit with your Xmas spirit post.
Meant my OP yesterday though, and it only echos a lot of what you've just said.

Yep. You thought we were gash. You expect better. I just think sometimes it takes some time to work it out and sometimes it doesn't click immediately. You've seen enough football, like I have, to know that sometimes for some inexplicable reason you just have to grind out a result. I think you're just as petrified as me we aren't going to make it again and we're dealing with it in different ways. You're demanding and impatient. I'm a little more glass half empty sanguine.

Funnily enough I'm also glass half empty. Nigh on 50 years of following them makes it impossible to be anything but,and impatient I most certainly am not mate.
I'm just waiting for the inevitable kick in the bollocks when Billy gets injured and we sell Duffy next week. Or maybe another drugs or sordid sex episode out of nowhere.
In the meantime I just want us to perform to the very best of our abilities individually and collectively.

I'm confused. All I claimed on the other thread was our post festive period gate would be 5k down. Why would I say different now? Gills will bring as many or more than Oldham, and 21st Jan is far enough off for folk to put a few quid back in their bank accounts.
It kind of feels you've had a dig at my forecast and then when I've offerd a bet on it you're backtracking.
That said, you are obviously free to take it,leave it or offer an alternative, but surely you would agree any bet should be within the parameters of my post and your pretty damning dismissing of it.

Not in the first half, apparently. Our comfortable 2-0 win will drive away the newcomers and another 5,000 existing customers. Disgraceful.

Your dismissing of my assertion. ^^^

You gave, or I thought you gave, the impression that the "extra" fans would not come back for more, as a result of the dreadful performance. The fact is, at all clubs, many turn out on Boxing Day that won't come again for another year, regardless of result or performance. So any suggestion that the inevitably lesser attendance against Gills will be some sort of indictment of the performance against Oldham really doesn't hold water. It's not the Ark of the Covenant so I'm not going back through previous posts to try to read between the lines. In the spirit of the season I'll take the bet but limited to £10 and only to give the forum some dosh, because I think, as I've said, that you'll probably be right but nothing at all to do with the 2-0 win over Oldham.

I did say that pinchy,I said it on the back of what I saw as a poor performance, not the natural deop off post Xmas/New Year. my point here is I feel that extra 5k would in a jhealthy part remain had we won 2-0 but played for 90 minutes as opposed to whatever time it was Clarke came on.
I don't want to win a bet under false pretences,so if you agree,I'll take your offer of £10 and shift it from the Gills game to the Northampton one and I'll say 2-2 with us coming back from 0-2.
This is Stevenage revisited. We don't do shoe ins , games in hands or take advantage of our 2 promotion rivals playing each other.

Id certainly bet anyone there will b more than 22,000,20 quid to charity and a beer of the winners choice

Turning into a sweepstake.... Good. I'm all for dosh going to good causes.

seanbeenstattoo, I know it looks like I'm being obstructive but my problem is I have to predict a win for Northampton Town on Saturday (ask Snowman!). Why don't we just go for the 5,000 thing for a tenner? I see it as a marginal 49/51 against me but I really don't mind that. In fact if we win on Saturday (contrary to my prediction) the margins will shift in my favour.

I'm fine with that Pinchy. As you'll be aware,I also doubt we'll break the habit of a lifetime and take advantage of a situation.

Ok mate, please pay to forum if I win. I'll send yours wherever you direct...

I think we have to hope and believe that this is the season to bust all the old stereotypes and barriers (though there's no doubt they exist). My guess is other fans perceive such "we never do" situations for their own clubs as well. Either way, let's give 'em some Tuftypower this time...

And would you like a small wager on the next home attendance after the festive period?

I'm afraid those good ole stats are often very red herrings, and we both know the classic "There are lies, damn lies and statistics".

There certainly are. On the pigs official site, they're saying that the Wolves game is 'Sold Out'. So I'll expect to see 39,732 published. Except we won't. And it won't stop Mick The Pitsmoor Pig gobbing off on FH about how much bigger their crowds are than us. But he won't mention that Wolves brought more than the 500 that Oldham did. Or that the Wolves game is £5 for kids and concessions...

Totally agree with you on the "Maybe this is the season". I'm a big believer in Wilder on a number of levels.

IF I win I also would like the proceeds payed to the forum.

Its in games like this where the opposition are pressing high and stopping our midfield playing and wing backs getting forward, that we particularly need the sort of player who can create something from nothing ....... that's what we lack in our side particularly and hopefully tufty will be able to deal with that on 1st Jan .....

Yes. If only that lad Mark Duffy were available...

You did! Just. I thought it would be marginal. £10 on its way to the Fox Trust Fund.... :)

I have no doubts in what you are writing - but we all know that SYP are not really for for purpose.

I have always been impressed when going to the red rose side of the Pennines - they should take lessons. As with anything like this - if perpetrators are dealt with properly, then there wouldn't be an issue - too many fucking liberal views for my liking.

South Yorkshire Police - the most incompetent, arrogant, useless, corrupt, waste of a uniform in the entire country.
