and middlesborough lost 3 points for not turning up to blackburn in the prem . said they were all sick

They still played the re-arranged fixture though. And lost anyway. And went down because of the points deduction.

They would have been better sending out the youth team...

So they played the game and ended up -3 points, seems harsh if they had a genuine reason for not attending the original fixture.
If you do have a genuine reason for not being able to field a side, do you need to give so much notice to The FA to avoid a points deduction, or are you just screwed?
