I'd rather we didn't play today. Not because I'm bothered about getting to and from the match, but because adverse conditions make good football harder. We're a better team than Bournemouth so high winds can only favour them.

We know how to mix it up too. Hendo's distribution for instance this season has invariably been quite direct.

I'd definitely be considering bringing Lunny in for Norwood though and getting some pace up from for the many knock downs.

Dodgy fabricated roofs are a threat so keep your wits about you today blades..

The gusts were close to their strongest from 6am this morning.
The strongest gusts will be between 10am and noon....then it calms down gradually from 2pm.

Suppose the logic is if there’s no structural damage around Bramall Lane now....then it’s hardly likely to happen later.

Seems to be calming down already in Handsworth, skies are brightening up. Went out at 9.30 it was pissing down and plenty of little twigs all over the roads but saw no real damage anywhere. All this where there is blame there is a claim culture is making everyone as soft as shit.

City vs West Ham later today been postponed

What has strong wind and rain got to do with fan safety? The club can only be liable for conditions in and around the ground.
They can’t be held responsible dangerous driving....drivers not taking into account the conditions.
I’m pleased it’s being played....it could be a memorable match..,thats talked about for decades.
Said it before....if we win...then most will be laughing about the crazy conditions and how Norwood curled one in from a corner etc.
If we lose.....then no doubt some will say the club blundered by playing it. Really looking forward to seeing Berge’s home debut.

City have cancelled for that exact reason...safety of the fans...it's not whether they are responsible but if anything happens then they will not look good

That Derby postponement was more than a little questionable. The snow wasn't that bad and around the ground it was fairly clear. The EFL backed them up, but it definitely looked like opportunism given their injury list at the time.

But snow and wind are quite different in terms of being assessed for danger.

If the ball won't stay still later, then it will be called off. But if the forecast is right, and there's some cover from the stands, it'll be fine I think.

Rain certainly isn't an issue.

I am in town and rain is definitely an issue!
This may come back to haunt me, but I feel you're being a touch hysterical there Deaders. Forecast improves later, chances are the wind isn't as bad on the pitch and I imagine only a couple hundred will not attend.

I think I was being understated in describing the weather. It's shocking and I'm 10 mins from the ground. You can barely walk for a few yards without being smashed about. It may get better but at this stage if weather is like this kick off time then there is no way it goes ahead

The whiplash thing is a good example. A few years ago my wife gently nudged the back of another car whilst coming to a stop. Impact speed? Maybe 5mph. There were no marks on either vehicle, no damage, not even a scratch. The driver of the car in front put a claim in for whiplash afterwards. She was perfectly fine at the time, but she got some time off work for it and we kept getting letters from the insurance company for about a year afterwards. Complete nonsense. Eventually it went absolutely nowhere thank God. But that's the kind of society we've encouraged due to being too amenable to such ridiculous claims.

Spawned an entire industry of people fitting switches to their brake lights so they can turn them off in rolling traffic. Gangs employing people to get the claims in and 'no win no fee' accident claim companies.

The human condition..
