Tommy Doyle

He plays a fair bit and one of the sticking points (as well as City using him as a makeweight to sign another expensive flop) reported last time around was that he wanted a contract without a relegation clause so I can’t see him dropping to Championship wages.

He's featured in almost every game. Usually as sub. Unless Wolves can actually spend money again then I can't see him moving. He's only 23. We can't match his wages and he'd not drop down.

I also don't think he's got the physical presence for the EPL.

Saw his cameo at Newcastle tonight, certainly lacks the physical presence to compete in Prem. Wolves set up for a battle and had the physique all over the pitch to carry it on. Only abysmal defending let them down.

They let Doyle on against tired opponents.

Osula, on the other hand, looking very comfortable.

I would be very surprised if we signed Doyle. But he would be ideal for what we need. Able to provide the defensive double bank with Souza, but one of those playera who can take the ball from defence on the half turn with a good range of passing ahead of him ( getting us up the field quicker), improves our ability to retain possession and can add the odd goal with a long shot, a leader with promotion experience. Probably all the things we need from a second midfielder.

Always liked Doyle and he has attributes this team could surely use. But wouldn't the central midfield get a bit crowded with him and Davies and Peck and Vini Souza already in the fold? Arblaster will be back at some point as well.
With Doyle that would be 5 players for 2 positions. And then there's Hamer who could play there as well.

Only if we played them all at once fella 😅

Not sure in reality Peck should be a regular starter for us at this stage of his career. He’s done fine but he clearly was never a first choice option before circumstances changed

Wonder if it’s a tactic to try and get Leicester to hurry things up by showing them we’ve got other options we’re happy to move on to

Sure Leicester don’t give a shit what we do. If they’re not overly bothered about getting rid of him since he was on the bench the other night, why would they care if we have other targets?

I’m guessing it’s so they can bring their own signings in. I think I read that they’ve got like a £13m budget for January so one out will allow for one in on loan.

CW apparently really pissed off with Foxes. From having a deal agreed, to say the goalposts have been moved, is an understatement. Think this might have legs.

Quite an insight there. How do you know CW's frame of mind?

I'm less keen on this one.

I'm not sure what Tommy Doyle brings to this team that Sydie Peck and Tom Davies don't. As many of us anticipated, he's struggled with the step-up... likely due to his physical limitations.

I'd prefer we loaned Choudhury or Charles.

Doyle fits a lot, lot better with Souza. Good passing range, good engine, attacks well. Well rounded footballer. He's a long way in front of Peck as it stands. May not end up that way but as it stands, Doyle would be a sizable upgrade on Peck and has better passing range than Davies. Wouldn't be a bad signing at all

For many, it's better the Devil you know. Orrrrr, to put it another way. it's Bladey Bladeness.
