I think clubs going up now are going to have to risk everything financially to stay up. 250m+

If we can nick promotion then I’m sure there’ll be a couple of out of contract players where the big layout obviously isn’t a fee but just big wages that Wilder will have his eye on.

Wilder has proved this season that out of contract players can be a winner (Campbell and O’Hare)

I think if Souttar proves his fitness he’ll put a bid in for him

If Holding gets some minutes and looks good he’ll bid for him

Hopefully Blaster is back. That will be like a new signing

Personally, I hope Brewster signs a new contract. We all know of his failings but I’ve always believed there is a player there. Now he’s fit and getting minutes, he’s improving imo,

We need to move a few players on to free up some room

Anyhow, let’s get the job done then we can have a proper debate. Long way to go yet

Don't disagree with that at all. Forest spent what £200m and only just stayed up by the skin of their teeth.

Also if, and it's a big if, our new owners have the funds and were willing to finance that sort of spend I'm really nor sure I'd want Wilder to be the one spending it.

As much as I love him his record with money has been pretty average at best.

If we go up we need better than Shea Charles who cant even get in a piss poor Southampton team that look like gonna get even less points than we did.

If we dont go up then happy to stick with Peck and Blaster as our midfield due (assuming Souza and Hamer are sold)

Long story short, its a no from me.

Agree with the above like comments, he isn’t good enough and should fall off the radar and rumours pages completely.

The lad will graduate into a steady Championship player, but he’s done nothing to indicate that he might go further. He would have been a decent 6 month loan in this division, but that is about it.

I saw Wilder having a word with him at full time and mentioning in the pre match presser that we were close to signing him. Maybe we'll revisit in the summer? Wilder seems to be a fan
If we revisit a player that can’t get in a side worse than our PL relegation team then it just goes to show Wilder is sticking with his instincts and not the data analytics approach. All but a couple of our squad are not fit for PL (physically and in ability).

Did I see, a couple of weeks ago, that Soutts has had another op on his Achilles, having snapped it again during recovery from the first op?

If so, it’s unlikely he’d be anywhere close to fit until well into next season, perhaps even the summer after.

They also then got a points deduction the following season for breaking the rules. We will only spend what FFP allows us to which makes it even more difficult.

That’s a real shame for the bloke, someone who truly gave everything for the cause in a Blades shirt. He wasn’t here for long but the time he spent with us went down very fondly indeed, hard not to like him, barring a couple of games after his international jaunts with the Aussies he was superb for us and I wish him all the best.

Which again shows the nonsense that is FFP.

Forest broke the rules - Forest stayed up by the skin of their teeth as a result - Forest are "punished" the following year.

Whoever finished 3rd bottom that year has every right to feel aggrieved.

I should say I don`t know what the alternative actually is.

Maybe just a rumour as this came up on here a while back. After such a nasty injury would it be likely he could do it again.
I would assume he rehabilitation I slow initially after a career threatening injury!

Really? I just assumed the operation pics were from the original procedure.

I'd have laughed my head off if we'd signed him in January. The utter shithousery, of the filth making the cardinal sin, "Never love a loanee", only for him to be snatched away from them, and sent to their biggest rivals instead, would have warmed my soul for years.

However, jokes aside, I haven't seen anything of him to think he really is all they make him out to be. Perhaps he might do well in a side that is more prepared to actually use its midfield, rather than the hoofball we were faced with on Sunday. But I still think we can find better options than a lad that wasn't deemed able to cut the mustard for Southampton this season.

He was at BDTBL a couple of weeks back looked ok to me

This was from his own social media at end of Feb. Rumour is he slipped at home and re-damaged the tendon.

You’re usually looking at 9 months to get back to sports. Then got to strengthen back up and get fit again etc.

Absolutely no way he’s fit for the new season unfortunately.

I’d heard back in mid Jan that he’d had to have another op as he’d re ruptured it. Can’t see him being back before Xmas on that basis (that’s a guess btw)

The only place I’d have seen it was on here. As I recall, the suggestion was that he’d buggered it again by falling over at home.

Who knows? It’s prob daft to take anyone’s word for anything, on this, outside of Soutts and his immediate circle.

A huge GLTTL, whatever.

My Wendy pals have said since January his form has fell of the earth. He was rubbish against us.

He was bought for £15m and Peck was much better than him.

And Peck didn’t particularly have his best game.

I think Shea Charles is a typical good championship player that looks great against 3/4 of the teams they come up against but when they play us, Leeds, Sunderland & Burnley there’s a gulf in class of the opposition.

A tired 11 beat them on Sunday. Hamer wasn’t fully fit, Souza out, Arblaster out, Campbell carrying a knock. I genuinely think if the game wasn’t a tense derby we’d beat them comfortably home & away.

I agree but how much would players "better" than Hamer and Souza be, they're both £20m players surely so we are definitely gonna have to be better at scouting next year.
Personally I think both will be far better in the PL next season were we to go up than they were last season.

To put it simply Souza had too much attacking responsibility and Hamer had too much defensive responsibility. They were also playing with Osborn, Basham, Fleck and Norwood who, with the greatest of respect to them, were all well past it.

We’ll need another midfielder though for sure.

I can confirm he snapped it again, I sent that picture to a friend of mine, a relation of his played with Souttar at Stoke and he contacted him and he confirmed he had snapped it again
