Tommy Doyle

I don’t mind Danny Hall at all and I think he has decent connections at the club which leads to a sprinkling of info. But I hate the way he has to write for the Star. Cryptic social media posts which lead to articles that are horrendous to read because of all the pop-up ads.

Those in the NFL thread know that I’m a big follower of the Detroit Lions. One of their “beat reporters” recently broke out from one of the local publications, think the Star basically, to launch his own Substack. $7 a month, he gets to write whatever he likes and has a community of readers who are genuinely engaging with him and valuing being a part of it. Would it work here? I see the likes of Ramble charging for stuff but I can’t help feeling it just seems a bit amateur. Low standards on content, sourcing. The Detroit guy brings professionalism you can only get from years of covering the team/sport properly. He also actively engages in a chat. It’s like having a genuine insider on here. I don’t know, a discussion for another day/thread.
Sometimes he’s good, sometimes he just regurgitates stuff he finds on here and Twitter and wraps it up in a nice clickbaity bow and puts it in the star’s website and hope to drive ad engagement. Look how he was flip flopping with the takeover. He was clearly kept out of the loop for large portions of it so wrote things about how there were troubles. People see the headline, click on through and then find its word salad but they’ve earned to another 50p from engagement

Wolves might want to bring players in but up against FFP so need to loan him out to bring in
Based on watching them on Wednesday their problems are defensive lapses and failing to convert straightforward chances. The midfield, without Doyle, are creating plenty and gave Newcastle's "world class" trio and good as they got.

If there was a chance to loan out a bit part midfielder, with proven ability in the Championship, to fund help in their weaker areas, I think they would take it.

The scary thing is that they looked a much more accomplished version of us and they are 3rd bottom of their league.

Wonder if Doyle could be the other permanent signing Wilder mentioned? I suspect Kenny could be that too though.

If we can go so insane on Cannon surely we can offer a loan fee and obligation to buy combination for Doyle that can tempt them into a deal

Sorry to ask I just lose track 🫤

Last paragraph = bang on !

Jonjoe Kenny or maybe Paddy?
Thanks

I was thinking Dalglish , Rodgers , the pop group Kenny or perhaps Kenny Hanson who was in my class at Aston Lodge J and I school in1966 - he only had one arm though so wouldn’t have made a back up goalie but perhaps better than Gerbric or whatever his name is - Kenny Gerbric ?

Last time I saw him for Wolves he did look like he didn’t fit with the system their manager was playing. Also looked smaller, slower and dare I say weaker than the others on the field.

Not a criticism, just pointing out where the premier league is heading with regards to athleticism and build and perhaps that while we would welcome his arrival, realistically his role is certainly quite limited in the top flight with him needing to be sat with someone who can at least make up for his shortcomings.

But protects the ball very well, works hard, fearless, eye for a pass and scores goals. In the championship would be a huge player as Souza has proven to be. But if we are aiming to be a longer term premier league side we may need other options.

Saying all that, I’d be astounded if Wolves let him go even with the alleged interest in this other player. But I would be very happy.

Thanks

Ironically my schoolmate had one arm, he was called Pete ‘Able’.

We used to go to swimming baths after school, we chucked him in and he went round in circles.

True story.

Completely agree I thought this while he was with us that the step up wasn't ideally suited to him.

It's probably why we have stuck Hamer out on the side as in the premier league that's probably his position

Spot on about the build of prem players, there physically built & fast most of them, something we lacked amongst other things last time out. Doyle looks to me technically good but lacks the pace & build, but that's only my opinion.

No worries mate, Jojoe Kenny from Hertha Berlin, the right back.

Mind, right back isn't a position we are desperate in to fill but Kenny has been linked a fair bit this window.

My favourite moment.

“Mr Potter I've considered all of the evidence put before me.

And taken into account all of your character testimony, your undercover military work in Vietnam, and your glittering boxing career.”

The one that always tickles me is when Kenny is talking about when he holidayed next to De Niro at Butlins or somewhere in Pwelhi.

'Fucking hammered him at Swingball' 😄

I don't think wolves squad is bottom three or fourth bottom but they were massively underachieving under O'Neil until he was asked.

Some great comedy. “What would Thora Hird do?” “St Paul on the way to Domestos” “Pissflaps” Clinton Baptiste, “Nonce” and “You can walk”

Ahem, on topic, think he’d suit but do we have the budget considering we need a decent CB as well.
