Hope this is true and goes through. All these posters that claim to know the proper value of a player 😂

Give it a rest and let the club get on with it. I'm sure that we can afford that amount otherwise we wouldn't do it. The new owners are not daft.

Fingers crossed that this goes through asap - got a gut feeling that it will.

I assume the arrangement is a loan with an obligation to pay £10m if promoted.

A further £3m in add-ons if he / we achieve certain milestones (no. apps / goals, survival in PL etc.).

If so, it's probably a better deal than paying £7m up-front now as it's coming out of a much smaller pot.

Still not entirely sure it's the right move, but Wilder did well in the Summer with his budget so will trust his judgement.
I saw Cannon against Burnley a couple of weeks ago and thought he looked really good.
It’s a straight up buy no loan

Am I right in thinking that some of our fans moan about having owners who won’t/can’t spend, moan about not competing. Then, same fans when we do have owners willing to back the manager, moan about overspending?

Mad money imo but certainly a statement to match Sunderland’s offer. New owners obviously mean business and want to back Wilder.

Still think he’s too passive to warrant that kind of fee. Watched him 6/7 times this season and haven’t been overly impressed. Was woeful against 10 man Wednesday for example.

Makes sense that the new owners do back wilder as it doesn’t make sense to have a 100m asset which could be worth far far more with a little investment I suppose.

Hopefully in for Saturday to maximise our number of games out of him

While I think that price is daft, we'd essentially be spending the Will Osula money on a more proven player, albeit one with a lower ceiling. At worst, we should get a consistent Championship goal scorer.

If the new owners are sanctioning the spending of the money we've brought in for Osula/Trusty/Slimane, we should have a bit to spend. Considering we need 4 or 5 players in, I'm not sure I'd be spending this much of it on Tom Cannon.

Is he the last striker on Earth?? There has to be better options out there? Have not rated him on the few times I've watched Stoke this season on the telly. Maybe he'll come and tear it up and we'll all be worshipping at his feet....or maybe not!!
Conspiracy theory...are we toying with Sunderland to get them to overspend so we are free to get other targets? It's what a sneaky American company would do.

Oh.
Could be madness then.

I hope we haven't shown our hand to the market too early. I could see the likes of Southampton and Leicester seeing dollar signs in our pursuit of BBD and Choudhury (seems they already have though).

If they are trying to buy players services on a “if” basis it won’t do their business reputation any good. Could I get a deal where I buy a quality motor and get to use it for free on the promise I’ll pay list price if I get a better job in 3 months, if not hand it back used?

Also all these stating they wouldn't pay £X amount for Cannon. Is it your money? No it isn't.

IF he's the one that Wilder wants and it doesn't affect our other targets ie BBD and Choudary then what does it matter?

If it is the rumoured £10m plus £3m in add ons then yes we're overpaying but does it really matter as long as that money isn't coming out of the pot for one of our other targets.

No one, and I mean no one, knows how much the new owners have or are willing to spend to get us up.

Has anyone here seen Tom Cannon play more than one game? Combined highlight footage viewing doesn’t count.

Sheffield United fans - "We need this takeover to happen quickly. The Prince has no money and can't fund a promotion fight"

[Takeover happens]

Also Sheffield United fans - "We shouldn't be spending that amount of money on a player"

🤣
I'm confused as to whether our new owners

a) Don't have two halfpennies to rub together, so they're wrong for us

b) Have more money than sense, so they're wrong for us

The Cannon deal could be influenced by the Choudhury deal of course....unless it is simply down to the player to decide.

I don’t necessarily think it’s the new owners just flouncing 13M because they’re rich. They may be thinking that if we don’t go up then the likes of Hamer Vinny Anel and even Cooper would leave and more than cover the cannon fee.
