True to some extent, but we’re not banking on selling him for £30m+ if we fail to get promoted
Not sure what your point is there. I was just responding to the suggestion that their season would be over if they lost one player as, in my opinion, our's would be too.

Failure to achieve promotion would probably have a significant effect on our squad too, though. I think by the end of the season the one player we might be struggling to keep hold of could be Cooper. His reputation is growing and they'll be a Prem team that are looking with good money to spend. I don't think he'll hesitate to jump up either.

If anything it gives an indication on funds available if we're spending 13m on a striker.

Can't fault them for backing us.

are we rich?

Nowhere near that value. Personally think 7M is too high for such average returns.

I assume the arrangement is a loan with an obligation to pay £10m if promoted.

A further £3m in add-ons if he / we achieve certain milestones (no. apps / goals, survival in PL etc.).

If so, it's probably a better deal than paying £7m up-front now as it's coming out of a much smaller pot.

Still not entirely sure it's the right move, but Wilder did well in the Summer with his budget so will trust his judgement.
I saw Cannon against Burnley a couple of weeks ago and thought he looked really good.

Striker market is always difficult. More often than not you have to overpay. Let's hope the scouts see something in him and it's not just pure desperation.

One issue with that is that another three games have gone by.
We can get by up front for 3 games (Campbell back on Sat?). Less so in CM. Would be happy just waiting to see what drops in the last days than commit to an absurd fee on a relatively average player

The least we could probably do is get Riis for about 3m if Preston drive a hard bargain

Unfortunately,Birmingham City changed everything with the purchase of Jay Stansfield.lf lower league clubs decide to play a dangerous game of roulette with money the club don’t have to achieve promotion and fail,it is suicide.
If the funds are provided from the owners personal wealth…….good luck and keep your fingers crossed !!

While I think that price is daft, we'd essentially be spending the Will Osula money on a more proven player, albeit one with a lower ceiling. At worst, we should get a consistent Championship goal scorer.

If the new owners are sanctioning the spending of the money we've brought in for Osula/Trusty/Slimane, we should have a bit to spend. Considering we need 4 or 5 players in, I'm not sure I'd be spending this much of it on Tom Cannon.

I'm unsure if he's worth that but, if he scores the goals that get us promoted he certainly will be! UTB! Penn and Teller doing magic.

Only worry I have with paying top banana is in the summer clubs will think we are a push over in negotiations
