Just contemplating the Newspaper headlines if we sign Cannon.

"Cannon shoots Blades to the Top"
"Cannon Fodder"
"Cannon explodes on the scene"
"Cannon Ball Run!
"Cannon misfires"
"Cannon shoots blanks"
"Rock on Tommy"

etc.

No one knows the structure of the deal. Not Nixon or anyone. But I very much doubt it will be anywhere near £13M unless he scores goals for us and we’re promoted…so who cares about the exact details.
👌 Good point, likely to depend on add ons etc.

Starting to warm to Cannon, Leicester paid 7 mill so paying 10 mill isn't exactly outrageous, the extra 3 mill on promotion is money well worth spending if he gets us there.

And he certainly improves our squad, if it means Brewsters game time is reduced who snatches at every shot and pulls them wide vs Cannon who almost always hits the target then I'm all for it.

Think he'll end up our top scorer even after coming in for only half the season and get at least 1 hattrick

if Sunderland had cannon tonight they’d have won that game, I think this will prove to be an important signing if it happens

I don't really care how much he costs, that's for the club to determine based on what we can afford. He may not work out, but every club in the world makes mistakes and brings in players who flop. It has always been the case and always will.

But at this moment, if we are serious about pushing for promotion, we need depth, like really fucking badly. And this is really important in attack.

Of our current 3 senior strikers:

-Moore has been playing through an injury that needs an operation, plus a recent bout of sickness
-Campbell has a history of injuries and (as Wilder said when we signed him) will probably not be the guy who starts every game for that reason
-Brewster just doesn't score, despite trying his best and doing a job within the wider team performances.

Beyond the above we are relying on a promising teenager.

Every signing is a roll of the dice, but ones that we have to make.

And because he's 32 and that's never been his strength.

You have to play to players strengths, or buy players to suit the style of play
And we certainly don't play to Moore's strengths - it's one of the reasons why our attack rarely functioned until Campbell came in.
I dunno why CW got Moore and then decided crossing was not part of our game.
Or decent corners or headed goals.
Anyway , I digress , I see TC as a younger faster version of Campbell who should suit our style well.
But we must get faster at moving up the pitch.
Attacking slowly when all the oppo defenders are set up will be no good for TC - we need some quick through balls to turn defences before they are ready.

I would like to see Moore and Cannon in same team when Moore fully fit.

Cannon has decent pace (without being express) and Moore dropping deep could release Cannon to get 1 on 1.

1. The money in this game at this level will surprise and amaze.

2. Any offers received for Cooper, Anel, Hamer, or Souza?

3. Wilder has a list. Does every player arrive here having ticked every box?

4. Some players arriving, will have the added benefit of improving others?

Are these from the new Blades fortune cookies I have heard about…,😄

Isidor has scored more from open play this season than Cannon, is a bigger overall threat with his pace, and he's not cost them near 13m

Sunderland look like a serious threat now, with or without Cannon. Le Fee looks likely to do very well based on this and they'll still bring more players in
Shame they didn't win that. If Burnley don't even lose that then when will they lose at home? Still not a bad result for us
How do you know they will bring more players in.?

All those saying Cannons goal tally is because he scores pens will have seen tonight that that's actually quite a valuable attribute 🤣
I don't know why people moan about penalties scored? You might get 8 or 9 in a season which guarantees a lot of points, especially when you're not conceding many.

Imagine Campbell and Cannon...if they link up well, defenders across the league will have a massive problem.

Balls through from Hamer and o'hare or one dropping to link up or both attacking behind the defence, terrorising.

Thought he were a waste of coin. Peelo has told me “he’s not pal” so I’m firmly in the CANNON IN CAMP!

From what I’ve seen of him his game seems very similar to what we saw of ched evans in the 11/12 season. Can occupy a back 4, runs in behind and hits it hard and early - I think he’d be an excellent fit for the way we play and it wouldn’t surprise me if he finishes the season with a 1 in 2 record.

Just need to keep him away from Rhyl

Lad will find the net on a regular basis in this team .Will end up being a steal in few years time

Feel we should be bookmarking some of these positive comments about him as I’m pretty sure everyone was ecstatic with RB as he arrived.
Lad and manager get pelters for it now of course.
No goals in his first 3 games and a few will be giving it and getting on his back.

If he finishes the season with a 1 in 2 record there’s a decent chance he’s fired us to promotion at that point it’s money well spent.

Another interesting thing is that with Cannon and hopefully BBD cutting in off the left we suddenly become much more of a threat from outside the box as both seem very comfortable taking their chance if it’s given and hitting the corners from around 20 yards. If that does start happening it’ll be interesting to see how defences respond do teams suddenly feel the need to defend really aggressively against us and jump out to close that space down on the edge of the box and will that create opportunities for the likes of Hamer, O’Hare and Brooks/JRS to play the little balls round the corner or into the channels that they love with that bit of extra space in behind. At the minute other than burrows we don’t really cross the ball from wide areas so to defend against us you need to pack the box and make sure you stop runs to the byline or cut out the cut backs which we like to try and create.

I could see how this might work to make us a much more potent attacking side and must admit I’m warming to the idea and getting a bit excited.
