How many times do you have to hear the phrase "You know I'm not going to talk about specific targets" to not be bothered about hearing it again?

He does talk about specific targets to be fair, he did that re Leonard and its well documented re our previous interest over Cole. If he dodged it then I would assume we have an interest, because in the past with Wilder's previous interviews he often denies interest if there is no interest and says much less when their has been interest.

When talking about Hanson, he said we were well covered up front although he wants another option. As far as I’m aware Chris never names people he’s after unless it comes from the other team (or an agent). That’s the only reason all the Leonard stuff is public, Southend made it so.

I'm not so sure we are that bothered about Leonard anymore, didn't we go out and get Lundsram when the Southend owner started being a dick? I could possibly see us trying if the price was right but not if they are being stubborn and wanting too much for a player who is free in six months, maybe it is a smokescreen and we have already moved onto other targets.
If we were still in for Cole I would have thought he would be here by now especially as Madden has gone to Fleetwood, I think there may be one or two surprise arrivals which were on no ones radar.

I must be one of only a few that wasn't impressed by Riley last season. Granted, his involvement was limited but even so, I thought he looked way off the pace on the occasions I saw him, especially away at Bristol Rovers.

Whilst he's highly rated as MUFC and I think is captaining their U23s this season, would it be a good move (for him or Utd) to come as utility cover? I can see his chances being very limited again if he does.

I'm a little surprised Utd don't seem to be in for Amari'i Bell at Fleetwood who appears to be on the verge of a move to Blackburn.

We probably would be if he could play on the right as well. We could possibly swap him for Lafferty though. He'd be a very good signing for Blackburn.

I don't think Riley had the chance to get going last time. He looks decent enough from what I've seen, and can play naturally on both sides, which is the main appeal.

You're only talking midfield, I guess. It shouldn't impact any efforts to get a speedy defender (plz) or a striker on loan.

I’d assumed it was season-long, but looking at the announcement in June it was always described as a 6 month loan, so Wilder is right in saying it expired rather than the player being recalled. I suspect he might be in the squad this month while we sort our remaining transfer business before he heads back to Donny at the end of the month.
