Time to smell the coffee and stop kidding yourself that united will go up.

Deadbat is right. United can't handle pressure

At least we can sack DW and get someone in who really wants the job and employ someone who actually applies to the position.

United - Well done!

Humble pie for me for definite. Never thought they would win tonight so big, big praise. Looking forward to reports from those that went (damn course at work stopped me geting tonight).

Tonight proves what they are capable of. For all my criticisms/bottler comments I dont think some of our players lack ability and should be able to turn in results/performances like that.

Hope Wilson can still bring in a few loans next few days with main thing needed being PACE; probably one out and out winger and maybe an experienced midfielder to cover for any injuries for others.

Anyway well done Blades. Great stuff. Hopefully you can keep proving me wrong and we can repeat earlier in the season and get 4 or 5 wins back to back.

Can't understand all tghis fuss really. The Pigs were in a better position than us at the start of Feb. they had a blip and we did well. We've now had a blip and they look good. We are stuttering, but it would be ridiculous to expect Wednesday to win every game. United have got their player of the season back (Collins) asfter a few games out and the previous in form player (and one of the catalysts for our excellent form before) is due back soon. We're actually level on points with the Pigs and still 2nd. This may change this week, but to write us off is ridiculous.

There will be more twists and turns before the end. I still believe it will go down to the wire. I am disappointed and frustrated we chucked away a golden opportunity, but would have snatched your hand off f you'd said we'll be 2nd in March. United always seem to let us down, but I am sure that Deadbat, mp jacko etc were doomongering when Leeds were one win behind us in 2006. I am nervous, upset, worried and frustrated at our current form and the fact that the Pigs have momentum. But I don not think that because we have most major games in the last 20 years, that we will fall short this year. We may do and it will be painful. However we're still in with a massive chance. It is up to Wilson and the players to put this bad run behind them and push on. Wednesday will have a blip before the end of the season and we need to be there to take advantage of it.

what was I saying earlier? So the Pigs fuck up and we smash County. Time to get carried away? No, absolutely not. But it's a great result and good night for us. There will be more twists and turns and this will go down to the wire. The good thing is that we now have a fully fit first 11. We have K Mac back and with 8 games to go we are 2 points clear and have a superior goal difference. Doesn't mean that we going up, but it just shows that we should not be written off so early. This is a very nerve wracking, but extremely exciting time of year. Try to enjoy the roller coaster Blades .... and let's pray we finish 2nd!

Thats how it is with us. Its going to the wire, we may as well get used to it.

Just a quick report

KEVIN MACDONALD IS BACK :-)

Superb result that must be upsetting to the chasing pack. Well done Blades.

Saturday is very interesting now - super pig said the pressure would be on Wednesday if we won at County, and he's right, especially given their dropped 2 points.

Other key games see Huddersfield at home to Charlton and MK Dons at Wycombe, who have just escaped the bottom 4 and certainly have something to play for.

I hope all the doubting Thomas' are feeling stupid looking at last nights results. That was exactly the sort of game you win if your going up. Difficult away game against a team not a million miles away from the play offs, and we go away and spank them, putting 5 past them and my word, it could have been more.

If Wednesday fail to win at Orient on Saturday that could leave them behind us on points having played a game more and then that would the ball well and truly in our court. In fact I they drop points it could leave Huddersfield as our biggest challengers

Well put, Ollie (Post #124). There's going to be more twists and turns than a twisty, turny thing. However, last nights results show that some of the serious contenders are beginning to 'stretch their legs' on the home straight (Us, MKD, Charlton, Hudders) while some old nags get a lucky draw at home to mighty Walsall.

This win at Notts County could be pivotal. In terms of 'sending a message', in terms of goal difference, obviously the 3 points and in terms of reminding Wendy who the top dogs in Sheffield still are.

I bet they were wetting themselves before last night. Tough away game for United, cushy home game against one of the bottom teams. What can possibly go wrong?

Only shame is pigs can go above us saturday with a win now with that last minute goal, its impossible beforehand to know if us playing on weds night will help or hinder us.

"It's a funny old game", who'd have thunk it. We'd have taken 4 points from the two games this week as would Wendy yet we are now on a high and they are left with the old 'what if' feeling. Just shows, 4 of the back 5 back, KMac in midfield and we look like a good team again.

Praise for Willo as well, considering plenty considered him a crock and waste of a shirt last season that's his 38th appearance and he only needs 1 more for double figure goals.

bloody hell. nearly choked on my biscuit! :D.. thanks :D

they won't win though:p.. and if they do the key is to NOT PANIC

Before Saturday, I'd have happily taken still being 2 points ahead.

After Saturday, I'd have ripped yer arm off for a win at County. Wendy ballsing up at home to Walsall is a bonus of epic proportions.

All in all, a good 4 days work. With any luck Wendy and Hudds will drop points this weekend which will give us the opportunity to extend our lead against Chessie.

This is a good point. Most of us would have expected us and Wendy to take 3 or 4 points each out of the two games, either losing or drawing the tricky away game at County and winning the easy home game against a side at the bottom. If things had worked out that way, we'd still be in the same position yet no one would have been close to slashing their wrists on Saturday evening. Isn't this fun :)

Came back from working away to find United has beaten Notts county. Didn't expect that but well done for the effort. Just need to keep it up for the remaining games. :-)

I definately smell pork now...

Just had a read through this thread, and as just a thought, why don't people get behind the team instead of taking and using the first opportunity to whine and moan and whinge like big babies, why don't they accept the fact that we will drop points along the way, but still get behind the team, and accept that dropping points will happen. I'm personally not bothered if we drop a few more points, just as long as we do enough to finish second.

Just done the same Brownie and got to agree with that. And also remember most predicted an awful season and play offs at best I think?
Support em.

All that matters is that we get promotion it doesn't matter how, automatic or play off.

Keep getting 2 points a game and we are there.

We have the quality

The icing on the cake will be that the porcine stay down

Crackling indeed SellyOakBlade.

The title of the thread says "kidding yourself". Even a semi-literate Blade would have said "kidding ourselves".

and indeed would have used the word "we" rather than "United"...
