Time to smell the coffee and stop kidding yourself that united will go up.

Deadbat is right. United can't handle pressure

At least we can sack DW and get someone in who really wants the job and employ someone who actually applies to the position.

Exactly.

The pressure is on and the curse of the usual United cock up is back on the cards.

My only consolation is that so more high earners / shit players will be taken of the books and then united can rebuild from scratch. IF it's DW then so be it but United will have a better chance without him.

Bloody hell. What is it with some people. Do you get some kind of perverted pleasure from always looking at the worse possible scenarios?

Yep, today was massively disappointing, Wednesday's win was a blow and they do now look favourites to get second. But less than a month ago, we were hot favourites to get second. However, we are still second and there are 9 games left to go. What should we do? Just give up and now and, if we don't get 2nd, not even try in the play offs as we always lose them? Or, we could try the utmost to encourage the players to get second and/or win the play offs.

I really don't see where all this sackcloth and ashes gets anyone...

It a matter of truth. Nothing perverted. Just being realistic. Yes we were favorites but just look at how we have fallen. Just look at the list of teams we should of beaten at look at the list who we have lost to in the top 6. Simply not good enough. But if you want to live in your fantasy that everything at united is rosy, then continue but the real world will just pass you by.

What's the point of encouraging the players when they don't give anything back or take it in.
So maybe we should pretend that we are going to win the league, win the championship and be in europe in 5 years time. But we all now t ain't going to happen so why waste energy as it doesn't get us any where.

Come back and lets see if we are eating humble pie at the end of the season.

The momentum is with the scum and we are pissing points away in the mean time.

Oh Darren!! Man, watching the Blades, that's where it comes from!

To be serious, I do jest - often, which sometimes is not transmitted on forums, the fact is we are sponsored by Unigate - we don't have much bottle and history proves that. We rarely win big games and are largely a league side. Thus the sackcloth and ashes comes from results.

You are a lawyer, yes? Well my background touches a bit on economics and thus when forecasting we look at past performance and that's where my views come from.

Equally at a game I am upbeat, but afterwards often the emotion to win hits the reality of past performance - hence the realism. Still the lads could take a Ryan Air flight to south west France.

Were spending too much time looking over our shoulders at what others are doing.

We threw another 2 points away today...

If we lose 2nd now, we won't get it back

If Wednesday can win at County then there is a good chance of them getting points off Huddersfield and MK.

What are you on about? Where did I say everything was rosy? We are obviously going through a bad spell at the moment, but to give up on automatic promotion when we currently sit in the automatic promotion places is madness. And for all the teams you say we have lost to, the teams below us must have done worse as they are...er...below us.

My point about us being favourites a short time ago was to point out how quickly things can change. Over 37 games, it's pretty obvious and United and Wednesday are pretty evenly matched. It looks like one of us will get automatic. It could be us, it could be them.

For all those seeking parallels with 05/06 - was today our Hull day ?

The gap with us and Leeds didn't become level on points at this point though?

Despite are shit March we still had a buffer of some points and tied promotion up in April.

This is closer than that and L**ds had a big wobble as well.

Prediction Wednesday 4 Walsall 1

I now reckon Wednesday could win the league. Jones will be really determined and I think we have messed up big time. That Oldham game has totally fucked the season.

Although its possible a win at County is an absolute must. I don't expect it but it's a must, otherwise it's the play offs.

The Pigs wont win every game, we know that, but honestly they are on a real roll and we are garbage at the moment. McDonald can't come back quick enough - but it could be too late.

United won't win anything with a pig in charge. We will be Lucky to finish in the top half. Get rid of the high earners, get the younger players in and consolidate for next season. Not quoted word for word but these were the general comments by some blades before the start of the season. Defo not having a pop at anyone, because some of the same thoughts were going through my mind at the time. But for f@@ks sake,we're still second, albeit on goal difference, and exceeded most of our expectations.and it's 99%certain were in the play-offs! So come on Blades final push, get behind them and let's carry them over the line. And if it all goes tits ups, then we'll have the inquest at the end of the season.utb.

Typical Blade fans....................

Weve lost 9 all season yet Wilson isnt right for the job, only 2-3 weeks ago we was in 2nd place with 2 games in hand and already 2 points clear and you loved him, he was the bets man for the job etc.

Don't know what you'd be like if you supported Wednesday. Jheez

Yeah we'll be lucky to finish top half, what must we be this season then, because we have certainly exceeded your expectations of "lucky to finish top half"

It's not over but today was pitiful. Such an important match but no urgency & no quality. We just let the game drift by. We are so slow that we need our passing to be spot on but today we continually gave he ball away. We rarely looked like scoring, bar the odd scramble in the 2nd half.

I dont think it is fair to single out Wilson but its what is happening now what matters not what we've done over the season. In my posts I takle "form" over the last 6 games. At the moment the Pigs have momentum and we don't.

So, by definition, there is a good chance of us winning at Notts County on Tuesday (and therefore at MK too). Where we'll still be second regardless of Wednesdays result.

I think everyone just needs to calm down a bit. No, it's not been great the last few weeks (minus Brentford). But neither was it at the end of October. These things happen. Let's just wait until the end of the season to see what happens.

Absolutely true.

We were spoilt by somehow getting to second in this piss poor division, but now the chickens are coming home to roost.

There is no 'stand out' team in this division (including Charlton). Today had an air of inevitability about it. Tranmere more than matched us today. You know how many away points they've got out of the last 30? One. Fucking one.

Where do I start?

We've relied too much on Ched. Substitutes coming on for 5, 6 7 minutes aren't given a chance. A 5' 2" full-back (Hill) has no chance against today's huge athletes (I won't say footballers). Rarely having a shot on goal in the first half at home should set the alarm bells ringing. When we have a throw, there's nobody 'showing' for it. An aimless punt into their area is not 'job done'.

I almost dread us winning on Tuesday (although trust me, we won't). It would just be papering over the cracks we've seen all season.

I can't help but laugh at those who say "If you were offered this position at the start of the season......."

Yes we all would have happily taken this at the start of the season but the fact is, just a few short weeks ago we were in an even better position and were almost nailed on for promotion. Now we've right royally fucked it up and come Tuesday night, we could, and probably will, lose our 2nd spot. I don't give a damn if we've exceeded expectations, we've fucked it up. Again.

Remind me if I'm ever in a trench anywhere on earth, not to call on you lot...

Jesus Christ.

The last time I looked we were still (albeit just about) in second place. If, come the end of the season, we are lower than second, then yes I think you can say we have messed up from a very good position. But whilst we are still second I think it's a bit premature to say that. Three weeks ago, Wednesday probably thought they'd messed up. 5 or 6 games later and it all looks different, and it could all change again in another 5 games.

So you're not at all concerned that in the space of less than a month, we've gone from being 5 points clear, with 2 games in hand, to being above 3rd on goal difference, on the same number of games?

What he said! For god's sake, it's still in our own hands and even if we lose Tuesday doesn't mean we won't end the season in second, or if we end up in the play offs that we won't win that.
