Time to question Wilder.

There's not a lot of point to digging up old threads and scoffing at contributions with hindsight.

No one felt happy about us being bottom after 4 games. Some were more despondent than others. So what?

Very tongue in cheek and glad he took it that way.

I've been reading a few threads from what seems like a lifetime ago when we were bottom. Incredible how quick things have changed and in such a fashion. I was reading Deadbats report from the Millwall game and it really did seem there was only one way we were going

At the risk of flying in the face of popular opinion, it is only October!

To quote the great Winston Wolfe: "let's not start sucking each other's dicks just yet"

Agreed, we were on a similar number of points at this time last year and we all know how that turned out.

We are looking a lot better than last season and a slump doesn't seem to be likely, but a few injuries and things can soon change.

Aye, I can't help but feel like a once battered housewife who's found a new husband who's been nothing but nice, yet cant get rid of the feeling I'm going to get locked under the stairs at some point in the not too distant future...

Was Millwall away the last game Leon Clarke started?

Coincidence that our style of play and performances picked up afterwards?

At least Adkins would have used players like Hammomd and Woolford instead of just paying god knows how much getting them out the place.

Hammond would be an improvement on Basham or Coutts right now. Overpaid, but still a better player than those 2.

Sorry YES but.....

lolz...

Calling for a manager's head and wring off players two or three weeks into the season is madness. Surely we've all watched enough football to know that teams' that start bad can go on and get promotion and even win the title, and that run away early leaders can be relegated?

Imagine if we were written off in our own day jobs before we'd even completed the training/induction? I know plenty of work colleagues that had poor starts but settled and went on to bigger and better things, just like I know some who initially flattered to deceive. Sometimes just like in the 'real world', things can just click into place for football managers and players alike, and then they're off and rolling.

If anything I think a lot more of those who were passionate and cared about the truly awful form than I do those who didn't seem all too bothered.

Completely agree, impatience or ignorance seem to be the guiding principles for supporters who are incapable of evaluating the circumstances a manager has to negotiate.
Admittedly, Wilder's start was less than desirable, but it was only a few games, yet the calls came for him to be replaced. When problems happen the way you judge anyone is to see what solutions they choose to correct said problems? New manager, new players, surely a chemistry that demands time and a little patience?

We fell lucky with Wilder's appointment, yet still a few supporter's moan and question his capability? That's not to suggest that the right to complain should be removed, but at what point do any of us begin to realise that after many years negativity we seem to have a manager who might possibly take us to promotion? And before anyone mentions it, yes I know, it's still October (just!) and there's still an awful lot of football to be played, but since when was it wrong to express an optimistic opinion? We're in great shape, our league position (for this time of year) is far better than we could have had hoped for, and most importantly, this is all deserved.

Or maybe there were fans out there who were very very bothered and very very passionate about Utd's piss poor start, but they might have engaged their brain and thought it was too early to press the panic button after just 4 games into a season. Dont confuse the 'didnt seem all too bothered' with a degree of cool collected common sense from some.

Doing a bit of research for the next podcast and came across this beauty (there are threads out there featuring me saying we are going down from this season but you'll have to find them yourselves ;) )

O/T Roy but could you give us fans view from from the bottom 6 and relegation? I need a good chuckle.
