Time to Clear Out the Fans' Favourites

Yep, time to have a clear out. Sentiment has to be chucked out of the window and some of the following need to go. I'm sick of hearing about the justification for pursuing with the likes of Leon, Billy, Freeman and Basham. Duffy is on borrowed time and the latest fan's fave McGoldrick couldn't hit a barn door with a banjo. Go on then, say it, his "link up play" is fantastic. But we didn't sign him for that, we signed him to score a few fucking goals.

Wilder needs to have a radical re-think in the JTW because he's just dipping his head in a barrel full of stale apples with team selection at the moment. Yeah, I know, the board need to chip in too but they need to take their heads out of their respective arses and look a bit beyond scoring PR points from each other first.
Thank fuck you didn't mention that fans favorite the Balti pie. If that goes I'm done.

Best football at the Lane for 40 years. Throw no one out Chris. Far as I'm concerned the jobs yours for life.

As for Goldy he had a 9 out of 10 for me.

The last few misses he actually did very little wrong, he's so classy he,s worth the entrance fee alone.

Hard fought match we made top of the table look average, we deserved the win. And we're unlucky simple as those it any other way is just sour grapes- get some perspective.

I agree wholeheartedly. Great performance today. Love this team and Wilder and Knilly.

As well as the Blades, I support my local team who play in Step 4, the seventh tier of English football (Isthmian league). We got promoted last season from Step 5. I went down and watched today, against the third placed team. Looking at the 14 blokes who played, only five remain from last year’s promotion winning squad. Non-league, fifty quid a week top whack, no transfer fees. But the manager has had to wheel and deal, as we’re playing at a higher level. And he’s got us up to fourth place in that higher level by changing almost the entire starting XI.

Cool story, bro - I know, I know. But snootyfenooty i understand and recognize what you’re saying. If you want to progress, you can’t just stick with what you had.

Decent point, but also worth noting that out of the 13 players on the pitch for United today, only five were from the League One promotion squad.

WUM on steroids

Snooty I do think you are indeed a Blade. But seriously come on, the football Chris has got us playing is nothing short of amazing.
You talk of reaching for the stars but realistically, we don't want or need the Prem it's bollox and totally about money.
Enjoy the football we play, enjoy the defence playing out in tight situations, enjoy Goldy playing sublime touches here and there.
I am loving the ride we are on but wanting a trip to play Peps team - no thanks..
Who wants to play the best teams in the land week in and week out??? Are you serious??? Typical Blade mentality. Except second best, that’s been hardwired into every Blade’s pyschie since we wore fucking short pants, as long as we give 100%. Fuck that and then some. This leagues for the taking this year with a minimum of £7 million investment to Chris Wilder in January, fucking game on in my book.

I'm utterly confused by some people on here. Why do we have the right to have the pick of the best players available. Yeah lets replace Billy, Leon, Duffy et al. But who with? We don't have to right to just stroll into another team's office and demand they sell their better players to us for fuck all money because that's what we would be doing.... We are a decent championship side but without some serious financial clout we can't just sign whoever we want just 'cos the fans get pissy when we don't win every week.

Complete and utter bollocks.

If we had £100m to spend, there might be some merit in this.

The players and management are doing remarkably well considering the meagre resource we have to compete with.

I mean do you watch games I’d say McGoldrick is one of our best players and had the most quality by a mile he just isn’t a goal scorer and never has

Gary Madine £ 6 million..
He is exactly the type of player we need to come off the bench to give us a different option should teams force us to play long like Leeds did yesterday or when teams park the bus like the pigs did

Yes he has some quality but not as a second striker as he drops too deep which leaves us with one up front. In my opinion he should be competing with Duffy for his role and we use LC or CW up up front with Sharp

My view is yes we need to look for better quality to improve but, make no bones, today it was that we couldn’t win the centre of the park battle. Bash am was immense today and his cutting runs made Weeds scratch their heads. Goldy is a very, very good footballer but doesn’t have a powerful shot which means the goalie can get to it. Please don’t shoot me because I love the footie we play but CW doesn’t mix it up. Ok, he doesn’t have the players unless (and here is a thought) maybe he could look at the development squad. Now and this is a biggie that might get me shot down in flames but I thought we needed a midfield spoiler on today and I suggested that Lundstram would have been useful. I know, I know......

The development squad ?
In what way will that develop United ?
We'll get the pleasure of watching a good player coming from our development system for about 10 games before he's off

Agree with the Duffy on borrowed time bit, he's been shite for the majority of the season, gives the ball away too often, shits himself in a tackle and knocked off the ball too easily.

The OP makes some valid points to be fair (not sure the tone was quite right though!).

However until the ownership is resolved there's going to be minimal money put into the playing side of the club (i wouldnt expect much movement in January, and mainly loans next season) theres simply not the money to improve upon Billy, McGoldrick, Leon, Washington, Duffy, a permanent keeper who's really good, a better RWB etc. A lot of the lads are playing their best, it just wont be enough to get the club to the next level, but we dont really have any alternative for the time being. So i just go and enjoy watching 11 lads run their knackers into the ground each week in the hope of getting a result.

I do think Wilder could change things at time to help the team, for example Basham into midfield for the last 30 mins on saturday to add some bite and physicality would have helped. Yes we wouldnt have had his runs down the right but Leeds resolved that issue at half time so we didnt really see it from him (not a criticism, more praise for how leeds worked), therefore he could have gone into the midfield at the expense of Duffy, McGoldrick drops a little and we out numbered them there.

But hey ho, we lost to a good organised team who had levels of fitness not seen for a good while, so credit where its due

The OP is obviously a shit-stirrer; an S6 re-location would solve his angst problem - 6 weeks supporting that lot would see him sectioned........

But what if the player from the development system's muslim, will TPL act as his agent?

For those not plugged into the history of TPL's posts, he did, in his first posts, write with a supportive tone for the words of the Koran.
Something adds up. He’s that previously banned clown, who’s name escapes me......

Well done Sherlock fucking Snooty. We all know Bill, Leon and Duffy are going to eventually run out of steam but at the moment they still have something to offer until Chris can improve us. Picking on the older players is an easy option for posters like yourself. Bill, Basham Freeman have all survived the cull from just 3 seasons back in 2015 v Chesterfield. We have come on in leaps and bounds since then and under Chris Wilder the progression will continue. I'm sure Chris knows a bit more than you do on when these players will have had their day.
