Time for protest, meeting Saturday

Only Adkins was a decent manager on paper. Clough's track record is wank.

And every other appointment has ticked only 2 boxes;

Cheap
Available

And that's before you get back to the right Royal fuck up of having a meagre budget in the premiership, followed by exorbitant backing of the arch failure, Bryan Fuckng Robson in the championship. Talk about arse about tit.

Throw in umpteen failed business ventures around the globe and locally and several board restructures, all that have failed miserably, and you're looking for a noose.

And then on to what money has found its way to the field - could our decade long recruitment policy possibly be more fucked up? Is it possibly to have had the wage bill we have had, yet be completely devoid of any real quality for so long? Well yes it is, but it takes a special kind of incompetence.

Who's the common factor?

UTB

THIS ^^^ A million times over.

I'm still haunted by the Bury fans comments last night that mirror that last paragraph:

"It seems to me that it takes a very special gift to keep a club the size of the Blades in the 3rd Division but their board seems to have found it"

Take a look at @southessexmaint's Tweet:
Suggestion being form a fans cooperative to buy at least 1percent of mcabes shares.

I'm sorry you've got that the wrong way round, the longer McCabe stays the worse it gets hence why we will be embarking on a sixth consecutive season in League 1!

And hence why we've been in rapid decline ever since 2007 and don't look like getting out of it any time soon. During the five years we've been down here we haven't been able to compete with clubs only a third of our size.

Not got it wrong at all. Of course the common denominator for all our failings is McCabe no one could argue with that. My point is that irrespective of what else is happening at the club it cannot be used as an excuse for hanging on to a totally clueless manager.

What the fuck is south Essex maint (sounds like a painter and decorator from the south) and what is the connection with Sheffield United?

What happens if nobody makes a stand.

The same old excuses?
The best players sold and not replaced year in, year out?
The same level of mismanagement from boardroom level?
The same promises around season ticket renewal time, which are broken as quickly as they are made?
The same 2 absentee owners?

I don't see a widescale protest as the answer yet, what i suggest that will be a better alternative minute, is a concise but salient letter covering a few key bullet points, countersigned by a few infuential supporters with the gravitas to be taken seriously, and for the letter to be published in the local media giving Abdullah and Kevin McCabe the opportunity to answer the questions thrown up by the letter openly and publically.

Barn, Martin & Ricky? ;)

So NA has become a totally clueless manager all of a sudden since arriving at our club? That can't be true.

It's the absolute dross quality of players we have that makes it look like he's clueless, as I've already said no other manager out there would be able to do much better than him with this lot.

Hold on a fucking minute. Let's not forget how many humiliated and ridiculed a guy trying to carry out this very action the other week. We lose another game and suddenly everyone's on board, I exclude the OP in that by the way. Pisses me right off. Anyway, I'm in but I think there needs to be a few changes to the protest itself to maximise it's effect and efficiency.

YES!

I don't get it. Are we protesting that we're shit, and what do we expect to happen?

It's not like a Liverpool protest with a clear objective that the owners can be forced to agree to. We can't force McCabe to sell because there's literally no-one to sell to at a price he'll sell for.

Seriously, absolute best case scenario what do people think will happen?

A protest of this sort will achieve absolutely zilch.

The only protest that will count will be next season with gates down to about 10 thousand. Then you'll see things happen, although what that will be I've no idea.

We're only a couple of months away from ST,s being released... Think that might be the time to protest..

I'd suggest more like one or two wins... Though at this rate, they'll just have to sod it, release the info anyway and weather the onslaught of sarcasm.

Interesting. I was going to reply to another post but I'll put my twopennorth here.

The season is over in 11.5 weeks (thank God). I reckon they’ll still be trotting out the line “mathematically possible” with 5 games to go (although it will probably mean we have to win all the last 5).

So realistically, the Board and Adkins will not publicly say anything about plans until the end of the season. Part of the solution is kicking out a whole raft of non achieving players. They won’t admit this whilst they can still trot out the “mathematically possible” cliché. I think despite Adkins failing, they won’t sack him because of the Clough decision.

Protesting is one thing but unless we can get a dialogue with the main people (McCabe and I would assume Jim representing the Prince) we will get nothing.

One of the big missing pieces for me is overall finance: what state are we in now (last season’s accounts aren’t out yet never mind how we’re doing this season) does the joint ownership still work next season, will they go beyond SCMP levels to try to ensure promotion, what cost cutting will take place apart from downsizing the squad eg will they cut Academy spend. Do ticket prices stay the same (revenue will decline as I expect a proportion of season ticket holders will not renew. It’s not just about failure, it’s about abysmal entertainment). Player recruitment, how does the Transfer Committee work and what are they doing because the loans and transfers this season have in the main been woeful. Also rumours about Chinese investment – are they jointly looking to access a third partner for finance – what is the likelihood of success.

The main thing the fans can continue to provide is revenue through the turnstiles and continued support. They must realise we are major stakeholders. I want them to cut the bullshit and tell us what’s going on. The downside for the owners is revenue leaks away as fans become uninterested.

I’m sorry to say I’m moving to an uninterested position, I’m bored to tears with the football and the soap opera that surrounds it. Why can we never get things right ?

"They must realise we are major stakeholders. I want them to cut the bullshit and tell us what’s going on. The downside for the owners is revenue leaks away as fans become uninterested."

From above post, THIS is what we need, no screaming about past and current failures, the honest answer to the above.

Yeah lets wait till we are in lg 2

Alright so we protest, the board decide to invest £2m over the summer...and we don't go up again. How long are you happy for? Indefinitely? Or do you protest again because that wasn't enough?

My opinion is that protests at this moment are about results on the pitch, which is down to Adkins, not owners who made a) a good appointment (on paper) for Adkins, gave him a good squad which costs more than any other in the division and then gave him additional (significant) resource strengthen. This team - particularly in value - and in fact by the performances the players are capable off (think Flynn, Brayford overlapping under Clough , Sharp, Done, Baxter) is capable of much more. That's not the board, thats management. Brayford is restricted to a defensive position which isn't his strong point, Flynn is no where to be seen, McNulty has been shipped out, Wallace has been shipped out, countless slow, defensive players have been brought it. That's Adkins. Not McCabe.

It's OK lads, Barney Guevara's here......

Anyway, he's done a poll as well, which is a bit odd for somebody who's not troubled by self doubt, why would he need to ask anybody else what they think? He spends more time than enough belittling their views if they don't coincide with his.

I feel sorry for you. It must be a tough job thinking about me all the time. Perhaps a visit to the GP is in order, he might have contacts for a nice therapist for you. How does that sound?

I accept that Adkins must do much better.

I don't accept that the squad is good - it's wank;

There are a few players playing below their abilities - Done/ Brayford.
There are a number of players who can form the basis of a third division team with the ability to push on with the help of star quality - Basham, Edgar, Adams, Long, McEveley, Wallace, JCR
Only one player looks like he could pay at a higher level right now - Sharp.

There's no evidence that anyone will get better form the current crop, and it's beyond any doubt that a new appointment will have a much poorer CV than Adkins.

We need some new direction, not new oars.

Nay. If you want novel protest on Saturday, lets all take an old keyboard with us and hold them aloft to remind Nigel Adkins that us "keyboard warriors" are watching the same fucking shite as he is.

Maybe it's not the quality of the bullets but the bloke holding the gun that's at fault.

despite the fact we have a squad of cowards, they're the wrong kind of bullets for the gun.

Perhaps we should have a meeting to decide how to go about the meeting to decide what to protest about.

Throw tennis balls on the pitch! Worked at dortmund to get attention, easy to get into the ground and noticeable! Would only need a few hundred to make an impact and not like the stewards could kick everyone out.
yh and enjoy your lifetime ban when they find out it was you who endangered players on the pitch by chucking tennis balls

How about a protest about Wednesday being so far ahead of us when we prefer them to be rubbish and us not too bad.

How about everybody taking a dummy each and throwing it on the pitch?

From the bloke who drove 120 miles to hand his season tickets in when Wilson was appointed.

We are having a meeting on Saturday at 1pm in Fannys (lord nelson) upstairs to discuss a planned protest. This will be a peaceful protest against the club has a whole, we need route and branch change.

Our main idea is to stage a walk out on 84 minutes at the Oldham game in protest at 6 years in League one. But we are open to other idea's, if you can't come along you can post your idea's/views on here and we will discuss them as a group.

The time has come, 8 years of decline and we have not bottomed out yet, please support us, we love United but can't just sit on our hands and blindly turn up week in week out.

Save our Blades 'Stand up United' group.
Should all take a whistle and blow it on 84 minuets it's not against the law.Might have to stop the game and that would create a lot of publicity.

No need for sympathy Barney, I'm happy with my state of mental health. I really only think about you when you post sh*te, which is about 3479 times since May 16th. I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt on one post, the first time you gave us your view on Adkins, since then it's been the same old one tune banjo.
