What an absolutely appalling service, I've now been on the phone to the ticket office for twenty five minutes, in that time I have gone from being caller number 4 to caller number 2. I can only assume that the callers ahead of me are buying forty tickets each, in different parts of the ground using separate credit card details for each one.
Or possibly there is only one person answering the phone, but even one person surely can't take ten minutes to deal with each customer? Finally got my ticket after forty minutes, my transaction took three minutes twenty three seconds to complete and they wanted to charge me £1 booking fee, ha after forty minutes on hold they should give you the bloody ticket and pick you up from home!

Ticket Office Speak.
'All our operators are currently busy please hold and we will answer your call as soon as possible'.... 'Well when we say busy, we didn't actually say they're busy answering the phone, just busy'
'To help us deal with your enquiry more efficiently please have your customer number ready'.......'Look you're going to be getting a bit fed up now, why not go and find your membership number?'
'Please continue to hold, your call is important to us and will be answered as soon as possible'.......'We've only got one operator on today, she's not very good on the phone, is currently assisting to mark out the pitch and also has the shits'
We are currently experiencing very high call volumes, please continue to hold.....'She's just on the shitter and then they're doing the penalty box and she'll be right with you'
Your call is in a queue and will be answered as soon as possible.......'Are you still there?'

It's Maggots.....

Has anyone ever used the online system to buy home tickets? Genuine question.

We've only ever used it for away tickets or getting our own seats for cup matches. How easy is it to use to pick your seats etc?

If you get charged a booking fee on the phone anyway... it might be an avenue to explore.

Been easier to turn up 40 minutes earlier tomorrow....

What's easier than answering the phone? FFS.

It's easier to buy online, but I needed a seat near my sons season ticket seat ,so sadly ringing in advance is my only option as I don't live in Sheffield.

I was under the impression that you could choose your seat online? Is this not the case?

Like I said, I haven't used it that way but I'm sure it was mentioned.

Yes you can. It is the preferred purchasing method of choice for WY Blades.

Buying online, only allows you to pick a particular area of a specific stand. For instance, front left section of the kop. As far as I'm aware there is no facility to say I would like a specific seat, always supposing you know a seat number that is not occupied by a season ticket holder?
But if that is not the case I'd be interested to know.

It's Swindon at home and we're bottom of the 3rd division. Pick your seat when you go down the steps.

Once youve got to that bit, hover your mouse over a particular dot - it will tell you row and seat number, click on the ones you want and add to basket.

You CAN do that - pick a block and just put the number of tickets you need and they will give you seats in that block. But if you use the "stadium plan" bit instead, you can pick specific seats. I always try to pick the same seats so I know exactly what view I'm getting.

A collective mine of information, thanks chaps... so perhaps a hold message on the phone with information to this extent might be useful?

They still charge you £1 booking fee online - which I think was made illegal for debit cards last year but they still seem to be getting away with.

Yes absolutely, they clearly want to discourage telephone sales, so why not direct callers to the online facility to book a specific seat.

Of course to do so would significantly reduce revenue, but I'm sure that wouldn't be a factor

I was on to them today, I wanted 4 tickets for Villa and 4 tickets (same four customer numbers) for Notts County. I started off at 8th in the queue and it took a while to get my call answered. I gave him all my details and he said he'd go and get our tickets, this part seemed to take ages and left me wondering what was happening, but it was all sorted eventually. Total call time was about 22 minutes.

Online service is fine and I often use it but if out and about I will call the ticket office. I've learned to accept the long queuing times they clearly put one person on the phone....not great but fine.

The thing I cant accept is having my requests as a customer ignored. I bought some tickets and travel for Villa, asking that they were left at the lane for me to collect because they are an Xmas present, hence a surprise so don't want them dropping onto the doormat. I was told yep no problem you can pick them up here.

Three lots of tickets with travel arrived by post yesterday morning.....

"Let me hold you for the last time, it's the last chance to feel again......................."

Haha I was going to post this.

Online FTW for me when buying away tickets. Yes there's the £1 charge but a lot less hassle. Plus you get the loyalty points, dunno if you do on the phone?
