Against Watford in the Premier League we had the lower Bramall Lane section from the Cherry Street side to behind the goal

The Watford fans had the section from behind the goal to John Street

Don't forget that for several seasons now
The BL upper tier always has the front 2 rows completely netted off

And more recently the front 2 or 3 rows in the BL lower tier are always netted off too.
They do this for crowd control as it's more difficult for fans to run on to the pitch with the netting in the way.

Not really there is a natural gap between the BLLT and the south stand to help segregation. Not so in the BLLT / John st corner plus emergency exits from the BLUT are in this corner too.

Yes, a fair point actually. Makes sense now.

Do you still get that godawful James Morrison song down the phone whilst you're waiting?

"Let me hooold you for the last tiiiime"

Worse - there's no queuing whatsoever. You're either through, or it's 'user busy', which makes it entirely pot luck. I called 144 times between 8:55 and 9:30, without getting through, while I know someone went straight through at 9:15 on his first attempt. Annoying to say the least.

As someone who has bought today, I will simply say that I was lazy and thought I'd be able to get one a couple of weeks ago but when I looked they'd sold out.

Not that I need to explain myself or give my Bladey Blade credentials. It's odd that people actually buying tickets are getting more abuse than the Blades not actually going at all (who don't deserve abuse either).

Everybody gets abuse. It's an equal opportunities forum. :)

Surely the choice of putting Chez fans next to the family stand or H-Block is a no brainer.

No doubt there will be netting up on H Block now, thus depriving us Blades of more seats. If the Chez fans were at the John St end, all of H Block could have been opened.

They will also certainly net off the bottom few rows on both the BL upper and the BL lower, and close some rows between the Westfield Corner and the BLUT, despite it being home fans on both of those. I also expect to see some of the seats closest to the BL end in the John St unsold, despite the fact that home fans will be on both.

Seems crazy when there are still so many Blades wanting tickets

How can they further limit H block now? Tickets have been sold.

The whole very idea of netting as segregation is fucking stupid. It's counter productive. Football fans don't want to attack each other, they want to posture and act hard. Take the netting away and have just a thin line of stewards and they wouldn't dare. We've literally sold out and will still have 2,000 empty seats in the stadium. It's absolutely stupid. That could've been an extra £40k in the coffers

And that should mean Cheds wages would be paid for a few weeks.

And again, it'll be nothing to do with the club. I assume there's also a significant issue of sharing a concourse and facilities.

The small section closest to the pitch and the away end always seems to be netted off for big games, doubt it will be any different on Sunday. It would be good to do a breakdown of how many seats were unsold, and find out exactly why.

I wonder if some kind of solution could be achieved where the concourse on the BLUT or lower could be physically divided. This happens at many away stands, often there's just a metal gate across the concourse and separate entrances.

Sorry I mistook your comment as saying more seats would now be needed off on HB.

Can someone remind me of the riots we used to have in the premiership season because I can't recall any. There was nothing like the amount of segregation we have now. Several match gates were at or close to capacity if I remember.

Tell you what, let's expand our stadium to 50,000 and let the braindead cunts crack on with their segregation madness.

It's probably the only option.

Because they are never, ever, ever going to get real and let the club just get on with it are they?

Judging by the shape of most stewards I've seen that line won't be very thin ;)

Large area's of unused seats as segregation can get opposing fans to taunt each other and more (they feel safe in doing so,because of the no mans land).

Small area's of segregation,a couple of seats a line of stewards, and you dont see any taunting, maybe banter but thats all (because you are in slapping range,so respect is shown),you see this at all the Premier league grounds, maybe West Ham excepted.

I'm sure I read somewhere they are leaving the Chesterfield fans near the South Stand due to facilities, food and toilets, and for the ease of there disabled supporters. I could be making that up however.

I was similar, I tried 124 times and managed to log online eventually through my phone. Paid for a ticket and then said that the funds may have been taken but cannot confirm ticket allocated. So tried again and same happened.

Just spoke to the club and they have charged me twice and I got one of the last few tickets and the second payment will be rejected due to it being sold out at the time of buying and will be refunded.

The media always rave about the hatred between the Celtic and Rangers.
And they they rave about the intense Arsenal Spurs rivalry and the great Liverpool Everton rivalry.

Then you see on tv opposing fans sat next to each other with a single line of stewards
And at the Liverpool Everton derbies the fans sit with each other in the same stands wearing colours.

Remember the other year in the Sheffield the pigs were made to sit in alternate rows.
The police try any excuse to restrict away fans at the Sheffield derbies.
It seems like based on SY Police concerns Sheffield must be the hooligan capital of the UK. Why is that?

We really need to sort this situation out for next season when crowds vs the likes of Wednesday, Leeds, Forest, Derby, Sunderland are all going to be in and around 30k. We can't keep having 3,000 seats netted off, it's totally ridiculous.
I've always thought filling in the corner was a bit of a vanity project. My first thought when I saw it was how are we going to segregate?

I've heard that there's not going to be many chezzie fans in there section anyway, I know of at least 10 blades that have bought away tickets direct from Chesterfield before we had any extra allocation today.

The quote form McCabe at the time was its a great design because we can be totally flexible regards away allocations. I automatically assumed that we could close certain doors in the concourse areas but it doesn't seem to be working like that.

Wonder what the official story is on this because it does seem weird how there are so many empty seats which could be sold. Next season several teams could bring 3 to 4,000 meaning we have the chance to fill our stadium. So away allocations and segregation becomes really important and could cost us £1000's of lost revenue.

I read something similar on there forum last night (night shift= too much time on my hands). Only a few posters on there admitted buying tickets whilst they were being barrated by the other posters!

Away fans should be on John St then the amount of fans allowed can be varied by a few seats netted off from top to bottom, fill the lane end with Unitedites
