Three years ago? Time flies!
As a spectacle and also for some reason the atmosphere, the previous round v Forest was more memorable, I thought. Must've been a combination of going 1-nil down, the late penalty and the even later 3rd goal to seal it.

That cup run is the best we've had in living memory (unless someone is around who can remember 25 and 36?). It was made all the more sweet by the fact the wendy thought they were nailed on to play us and beat us.
Think there were very few of our fans who actually wanted to play them anyway?
The fact that we played the first four rounds away (OK Fulham after a draw at the Lane) and beat two higher ranked teams than us. Then beat two higher ranked teams than us at BDTBL was testament to a team spirit at the time. We deserved to win each tie as well with maybe a slight doubt about Fulham at home?
Both the Florist Game and Charlton were so memorable. Unfortunately for me my missus suggested going down to Villa when she got home at 1.15pm and I've regretted being a meh about that idea ever since.

Beating DirtyLeeds on the way to the Graham Poll show in 2003 was pretty good too.

Also, beating the mighty Coventry in 98 having sold alll our best players, was some achievement. The semi at OT was the third 'Blades didn't turn up' major game that I attended. Little did I know there were plenty more to come.....

Thanks Neuschwanstein great thread .

How many have there been?

My first was V Palace in the PO final
The FA CUP semi V Newcastle
The PO 2nd Leg V Sunderland
PO Final V Wolves
PO Final V Burnley
PO Final V Huddersfield
PO both legs V Yeovil

The two that particularly stick in my throat:

Villa away in the prem season
Wigan at home in the same season...

I am sure there are more!

I was just talking about 'major' games such as play off finals and semis and United have generated enough misery in these not to need to include the play off legs as well.

In addition to your list there was the game that never took place in 1993 and the 1997 Play off final v Palars.

Villa away doesn't even begin to come close as there weren't 35k teary Blades making their sad way home and crying about another ruined season.

I always felt we froze against the pigs in the '93 semi at Wembley, perhaps the occasion got to us? Too many part-time Blades who weren't really bothered there? Still think it was a bad move getting it moved; we would have had more chance at Elland Road. A few days later we were the better team in a 1-1 draw at the sty and had we played with that attitude in the semi, who knows.

I agree. In all the league games Waddle was marked out of the game and for some reason in the semi, he was given the freedom of Wembley. If it hadn't been for Alan Kelly it could've been very embarassing.

My first was the two legged affair against Bristol City so I've seen United lose in every play off type and every play off final venue - old and new Wembley and Cardiff.

Missed the semi's against Liverpool & Spurs off. That's if you're including the league cup.

Poor you I feel your pain!

Just scratching the surface Jane Age. Throw in cup semi-finals at various venues and the odd relegation too.

But......

When something like May 5th 1990 comes around it's worth it:)
Correct...

I was actually discussing this with someone the other day and when you look at it at least we are club that get in those positions to lose. Many, many clubs have far less to get excited about than we do.
