Can’t be bothered to read through all this can someone summise?
Woodward is wondering if wilder can get United established in the premier League by 2020.
Know one knows the answer, which is kind of the whole point of attending matches and following a football club.
Then the thread seemed to jump the shark, or something.
My feeling is that at the moment we aren’t ready for the premiership just yet. We might get promoted 5his season through the play offs but without massive investment in the team we will certainly come straight back down. Last weeks game at Leicester showed that the gulf is still massive, ok, we didn’t get hammered but still lost without really creating much in the way of chances and in my opinion Leicester still seemed to have a lot in reserve to step it up if needed.
I’m not sure which players Wilder could recruit if we did go up as he seems to like British players who buy into his work ethic and who have something to prove and are club men. This is fine and I agree with this but at the next level these players are harder to find, I’m guessing that if they are out there someone with more cash than us would have already snapped them up. I suppose the model for us could be Burnley but again we would be required to spend big eventually as will Burnley to keep on doing what they’ve achieved to date.
I think Wilder can take us up but we will need the sort of team investment that this club has never seen before to keep us there.
As for last night, I think the fans were concerned that QPR were getting too much space and time in midfield and were being allowed to run through our midfield, as they did when they scored, and I think this is why some were having a bit of a go at them. I don’t think they were necessarily being negative but were maybe just frustrated at what was happening and were just trying to influence a change in the way we were playing. Let’s face it, Wilder did change things and actually sorted it out.
Bladesway is fine since he asked although he won't see this.

Good news. I knew you had interractions with him through work I believe and he's not been in this manor for bare time blud - glad he's safe fam.
Oh FFS Please grow up and grow a pair. I hate bullying but I'm equally against pathetic martyrdom.
I know but I get so frustrated that these individuals have distracted the debating of proper issues for far too long.
Absolutely.
Maybe the subs were 10 vital minutes too late though.

Good question:
YES, I think he's done a good job recruiting within his limited budget. If he'd have a bigger budget, he may have got better players (he may not of course).
YES. I think he can grow with the club. The refreshing attitude to going out and winning games rather than constantly aiming for a point is well worth maintaining. Personally, and I appreciate it is not everyone's view, the performance level is MORE important than the actual result (consistent performance WILL lead to consistent results).
I have enjoyed this season thoroughly and, although last night was not in my favourite 20 games of the season so far, I think the crowd were too critical when we were under the cosh. Experienced players at this level will not roll over for us just because we go two up like some teams might have done last season at the lower level.
To compare us to Leicester the other night, then I would say we are halfway there but we really need pace in attack and a player that is that little bit special...Is Brooks our Mahrez?
The other question is do we really want to go up, is it just more interesting and fun in the Championship??
He'll read it.
That's why he's not commented on threads where we did post on last nights game. Hesseen the posts. pommpey has nailed it there though but. I suspect it's the lance through the side or the vinegar to quench WWF's internet thirst that he so craves - and had worked hard to achieve over the last week or so. Doesn't like being talked about, hates not being talked about.
To a very large degree I agree with you but nowadays the Premier League is so distorted by money that I can’t see us or any other club being anything other than a mid-table club. Fine for the first couple of years and then boredomIf you don’t want to reach the top level in sport, stay home and play Ludo.
Again I agree, if you don’t progress then you regress. I think Stoke is a good example of a club: made it to the Premier League with Pullis and his style of ‘football ‘. Fans not content with that, sack him hire Hughes. He changes the style gets the club into top 10 consistently over 3 years. Fans want to make the next step but they can’t compete and break into top 6. No more progress and now it is regression. West Brom the same, Southampton the same. Just looking to survive because now they’re trapped by Premier League money, chopping and changing manager, but no real hope of cracking the top 6. Always selling their best players to top 6 clubs. If your aim isn't to progress then there is only one way you're likely to go on the short to medium term.
Naturally finance dictates and therefore not everyone can progress who wants to, but if you have the attitude that we're happy where we are now and not fussed about going any further, then you're more likely to regress than progress.
We know we haven't got the lolly to compete with a number at this level but that doesn't mean we have to have the approach to settle or stagnate.
