So either he's an honest, hard working professional, the money was on the table and he messed up a job he had the responsibility over, or he's lying.

As stated, he doesn’t negotiate the deals. He said money was offered. No idea how much. Could be derisory offers all over again as it was for Russell and Mackay Steven. That’s not in his control.

Swindon sit 15th and Chesterfield are 17th which I think proves my point.
He was by far our best player for most of that season. He turned many games around completely, like Swindon at home last year. He got us 12 goals on the wing and numerous assists. For the money that we got for him it was going to be incredibly difficult to replace him. We have Sharp now who has been great but before he came here he wasn't performing at the level Murphy currently is (3rd with Brighton) indicating its not been a straight swap.
Add to that the 16 out of contract players, Baxter, unmotivated/disrupted dressing room, little money available. I think Adkins has done quite well given the circumstances.

I’m not sure I’d go as far as to say he’s done well but I don’t think he’s been as bad as some make out and we’re not loads worse than we were under Clough. We’re a little worse and there are reasons for that. The biggest one being the loss of Murphy.

His own signings have been a mixed bag and he's had mixed performances from the players he's inherited which is why we are so inconsistent.

He's not done so terribly that we just forget all his past success and jump back on the managerial merrygoround without even giving him a proper chance though.

all teams in the lower divisions , of which we undoubtedly are, lose their better players, either to ambition or money lust
we are not the only club that suffers this action
name any club and they would argue exactly the same thing
clubs only ever want your best players ,
when we got Done from Rochdale their fans were no doubt on their forum saying here we go again selling our best players

Walsall managed to turn down offers for Bradshaw and Gillingham managed to turn down offers for Dack to name two off the top of my head.

Either these were genuine modern day miracles or ....... you CAN turn down offers for your players if you choose to do so !!

OK how about this.

Name a team that has sold one or more of it’s best players every season for the last 5 years and progressed.

Or one that claims to be serious about promotion from whatever division they are in that has sold their best players every year?

Swindon, Chesterfield, Rochdale….. these are teams that punched above their weight for a season and as such, got interest from bigger clubs for their better performing players. They are small clubs who are not tipped for the championship. Why not look at teams like Charlton, Huddersfield, pigs, Leicester, Southampton, Leeds, Norwich, Preston, Forest etc. and how they conducted their business when in this division?

Or is Rochdale, Swindon and Chesterfield the height of your ambition for our club?

I find it odd that you cling to this idea that the manager chose not to bring players in. Every manager in the league wants to bring in players that are better than those they have. The issue is that the financial backing isn’t always there to allow it. Adkins has removed about 10 of the players he inherited to get the wage bill down to a more manageable level. At the same time he has had to try to recruit an entire spine of a team as despite having a million players, Clough left us with no quality at CB, no holding midfielder and a lack of firepower up front.
we unloaded enough to get one in at least
,we had too many players but have offloaded 8 to 10 or so
if we had got the back 4 and midfielder think our current goal scorers would suffice , getting better service

Adkins doesn’t negotiate the deals. He identified targets. Put them to the board. They made offers. Those offers were rejected. That has to be either

NA identified only unavailable targets

The board made offers which were too low to land the targets

Or a combination of those. One thing’s for sure. Adkins didn’t just decide our squad was good enough and choose not to bring anyone in as you keep implying.

Also, as the article you have quoted says, Adkins has had less money than his predecessor as well as less time.
hes also had less money because hes been here less , and would have probably spent as much or more if Burn was allowed to come and will definitely spend more if he gets next summer so to do

the argument has to be on a level playing field
per month of tenure they work out a lot closer

we did turn down their offers , but Murphy wanted to go
did you not see his I dont want to stay here performance at Gillingham
If a player decides he wants to move up you wont stop them

BIG difference

Irrelevant. If Clough had been able to get Coady, Mackay Steven and O Grady he would have also spent more.

per month? What about the month where Clough spent well over £2million on Brayford, Done, Coutts and Freeman? Meanwhile, Adkins has been slashing the wage bill and has a transfer fee surplus of around £1million in his time here.

Now now, you've been told about this demand for others to spoon feed you before. But here goes

Of the undisclosed fees, Wildschut was reported to be £1million.

The link below also indicates around £200k on Reece James as well as whatever they've paid for Sam Morsy and Colclogh and the tribunal fee for Power.

So well over £2million on transfer fees alone. Plus their wage bill will be bigger. They still have players on Prem and Championship contracts and won't be paying the likes of Davies and Jaaskelainen peanuts.

1. Well then how about we judge Adkins when he's had the chance to spend?

2. Adkins has been able to bring in 2 permanent signings and 4 loans. Caldwell has been able to bring in a total of 20 players costing a total of well over £2million on transfer fees alone. There's a much bigger different than wisdom of choice.

It's clear to see that their spend on transfer fees and their wage bill will both be higher than ours. Kevin McCabe even accepted Wigan might have a bigger wage bill than us when defending his own investment. Adkins said in the summer he'd have about the 6th biggest budget. We've had much more outs than ins and for more combined money. Adkins has reduced the wage bill, generated transfer funds and got the kids involved with performances on the pitch suffering only slightly.

they sold for a lot more than they bought
good management

again Adkins hasnt done enough by comparison in balancing the squad , which is my premise
suffering only slightly
weve been well short of the pace this season ,not comparing points but our position , points varies every season

Not comparing points is stupid. It's the best measure of performance. It tells you how many wins draw and losses the teams have been getting. Under Adkins, we're on course to finish 4 points worse off than last season as it stands.

I've been at the games and they've generally been similar to last season. mish mash of poor/average displays with the odd decent one thrown in here and there.

name one club whos spent more

should be easy

Coventry have also brought in 15 players throughout the season compared to our 6. Mostly free transfers but the likes of Ricketts, Fortune, Cole, Henderson and Ramage won't be on peanuts.

Barnsley have also made 13 permanent signings compared to our 2 as have Peterborough.

Bradford have also added 12 players on permanent contracts.

precisely , why havent we signed more missed opportunity all of Adkins own making
had we brought in more could have released more, or such as Scoogal a lot sooner

glad you posted a theoretical scientist picture
the theory being Adkins could , should have brought in 3 players , on free loans even no big outlay was necessary
other teams managed it , as you yourself have posted

we have been mi led by a string along theory , Im after quality, , like we couldnt find even one to match what we had,,, really

I'm going to say this one more time then I'm done.

ADKINS DOES NOT NEGOTIATE TRANSFER DEALS. IT'S NOT HIS JOB. It therefore cannot be entirely his fault. It's more than reasonable to assume that the reason we have brought so few in is because of the ludicrously large yet unbalanced squad left behind by Clough and that the wage bill had and still has to be slashed.

He seems to be on about string theory now for some reason so your wasting your time 1DW. Could be comedy gold though :)

Maybe you and Pete could organise a rota to share the burden.
