Predicted final totals updated following the midweek games;

Based on season average:

Norwich 88
Leeds 88
Blades 85
WBA 84
Brizzle 79
Boro 78
FLD 73

Based on the more volatile form guide (last 8):

Brizzle 94
Blades 89
Norwich 87
WBA 83
Leeds 79
Boro 80
FLD 72

What this shows at the moment is that us, Norwich and WBA are the most consistent top 2 contenders. Could change very quickly of course.........

We are one of, if not the, form teams but I think we have one of the most difficult run ins with WBA and Leeds away, 7 of the matches left against top 12 clubs and 2 of those that aren't are derby games.

Carry on playing as we are and hopefully this won't matter as I'm not sure I can face another play off campaign...as my wife just said to my 2 boys...you aren't very good at play offs are you !

Playing rival teams at the top is as big an opportunity as it is something to be feared. We’re good enough now to approach the games confidently, especially given our attacking options.

The thing is though, everyone else has to play at least one of the top 6 as well. Add to that that you get strange results from here on in anyway as lower teams invariably start picking up unexpected points.

Saw these stats yesterday, current average oppostion placings for run-in, Brizzle's would seem to be the hardest and you'd expect them not to keep up their run anyway;

Norwich 14.76
Leeds 12.85
Blades 12.86
WBA 12.76
Brizzle 10.87
Boro 14.07
FLD 13.86

I bet Derby fans had last night down as a home banker. End of season results always appear to get less and less predictable.
Exactly, and games against the likes of Forest, Stoke, Swansea, Villa, Hull, Brentford etc all with 'nothing to play for' are hardly gimmes.

There are no easy games now, the pressure during the home games will turn home bankers into jittery, scrappy games and away games become jittery and cautious

As difficult as our run in is, looking around other clubs forums, they don't want to play us either

In terms of the teams we all have to play, there’s about half a place difference between us and the likes of Leeds and the rest.

That’s nothing more than noise.

If I had to choose a team to avoid in the run in ,it would be Sheffield United.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

This.

I don't want to sound overly confident but we seem to be hitting top form and performance levels at just the right time. Also seeing how we can now use our squad depth so effectively makes me think that we must be one of the favourites to go up now.

The next 4 games are huge though. 8 or 9 points from this bunch and we are set up for it I reckon.

My powder (not that kind) is well and truly bone dry. I’m saying nothing whatsoever regards what we may or may not do. It would be nice to say “yeah we’ll do it”, but I’ve said it before.

3 of the next 4 will be the hardest games we play. But even after that we have a number of winnable home games. Our home form atm is stunning. So even if 3 of the next 4 proves difficult there are still enough opportunities.

Basically, no melt down required if WBA, Them and Leeds don't prove as fruitful as we wish.

Gotta think as well, Leeds & WBA fans will be looking at their fixtures and seeing they're still to play us, albeit at home but I'm not always convinced that there's a home advantage in high-pressure games. Fans will be quicker to turn on their players if they're playing badly and the pressure is on. Come out of the Leeds & WBA game without losing and we won't finish far off 2nd I think, maybe just sneaking it

There is one thing for sure, I understand that rebuilds become less predictable in the run in but what won’t will be our performance. I would be amazed if we put in a Derbyesq type performance between now and the end of the season.

I expect the top 6 to be what it is now at the finish. If we perform over the next month there will be no stopping us. Our reactive to the Villa game has given me all the confidence in the world, football wise

we have recent experience of handling a run in, previous run in last 13

46. Round 30/04/2017 12:00 H Chesterfield FC 3:2 (1:1)

just need to emulate this, we were better than those teams then , on our day we are better than those we are playing now

remember when we ONLY drew at Oldham and some said wed blown it, then we won the last 7

If there is a winner in Saturday evenings game I believe that side will take an enormous boost from it and go on to finish in the top two along with one of Norwich or Leeds.

I reckon you're right, Norwich going up in first spot would be my guess. Leeds have been making a habit of scoring late goals to win points but it can't last forever, Norwich don't play the nicest football but annoyingly its working for them

Surely this is just the same as the current league table, adjusted for any games in hand? Hardly a predicted final total IMHO*....

Fans change their opinion very quickly, one or two good results and we are top two, bad results and it's the play offs, Billy Sharpe gets an injury and we are out altogether, I, like everyone else don't know what the future holds but on recent form and our January business I have to be confident of at least top six and top six is still brilliant

Doesn't include we're bollocks away from home atm.

Could all change if we were to magically conjure up a win at the Hawthorns.

Can't see the likes of Ipswich and Bolton taking points of any of the top 6 sides unfortunately.
Lets put it this way i wouldn't want to be relying on Ipswich to do us a favour last game of the season against Leeds.

It is purely points gained thus far and assuming same for the remaining games yes, I shall amend the word predicted next time :)

I’ve just done it, irrelevant but all good fun.

I have it going down to the last day with us 1 point in front of West Brom but with an inferior goal difference. I’m not sure I would be mentally or physically capable of getting through the week before and the day of the game, fortunately it’s a 12:30 kick off.

That has us losing Saturday & next Monday (going worst case) with a point away at Leeds.

One thing I did notice is that it would have to be a monumental fuck up for Norwich not to get promoted. They’ve only got 3 tough games and I’ve only given them a point out of that. Plus the pigs to get a draw there !

Norwich could still fk up tho. EG: Preston 3-1 Norwich

Owt could still happen and that applies to all the clubs chasing as the pressure builds

The run in is now all about consistency and rub of the green

Oh I agree, but they’ve got to top playing all the best teams. To ruin it now would be a real fuck up

If that's the last day scenario we've blown it
I can see us being top on the last day, 3 points clear of two clubs with a + 4 goal difference better than the second and third clubs
We'll then lose 2-0 at Stoke and they'll both win 3-0 with a 94th minute goal for Leeds or West Brom and a 97th minute goal for Norwich
You all know it's going to happen
