It's also Saudi culture to chop off people's heads and hands in public, not allow women any rights, bomb Yemeni civilians (with hardware sold to them by our morally bankrupt government), bankroll extreme Islamic terrorists (Al Qaeda, possibly Daesh), and enslave civilians of many nationalities who are recruited to "work" in Saudi Arabia. Saudi is what it is, and you're right, the US Government in particular has traded it's weapons for an unlimited supply of oil. But the US being the US isn't just happy with Saudi Oil, it wants the rest of the middle east's oil as well from countries who are not so willing to play ball with them. So tensions are deliberately stirred up and then Saudi and Israel is backed with American weapons to keep it stirred up.

I'm not making accusations against him personally, and yes, this country is a very long way from being perfect, did and continues to do some unpleasant and dodgy things. He may be a good and righteous bloke. I agree that football isn't about setting some sort of moral high ground. However, I do worry about foreign ownership in English football generally, and about clubs getting mixed up with and being financed by potentially "grubby" cash. Last night's posts were influenced by the headiness of the victory, and the subsequent beery celebration! Apologies for this, and for any personal stuff, but not for my concerns about where the Prince's money may come from, and for the fact that he does "represent" Saudi Arabia.

The UAE is an unusual country, with AD as it’s capital and Dubai as its biggest city and commercial hub. I had always assumed Emirates to be the national airline, only to discover that uniquely in the world, they have two!
