we are progressing ,still prone to letting in daft goals but that's part of the journey

thought Lowe was 200 percent better after 1 more game

Heckingbottom needs to be a bit more positive and proactive with his substitutions and we need to find more than one way / shape to win games of football. We don't look like we can change things. It can't always be 3-5-2, we have to be able to change shape and throw some extra bodies forward.
One thing I miss from the Wilder era was how aggressive he would be when we needed a goal. For the gaming nerds, it was almost like going into ultra-attacking mode on FIFA. Ball goes wide and half a dozen blokes charge into the box, you play the odds that it might drop to one of your players.

It looks like we have the tools for the job. We just need to maintain them a bit better (the injuries are killing us) and utilise them more cleverly during games.
When we go 2-1 up, let's go for a third if we're dominating. Let's recognise how good we are and take it to the rest of the league.

But this isnt a new thing. Its clear to me that this is part of his managerial DNA and he isnt going to change that. Call it stubborn or call it negative but ultimately that is the way he plays so we’re going to have to get used to it.

If it was a quick fix, our performances towards the back end of last season wouldnt have been so drab and boring on such a consistent basis. We’re never going to be great to watch under Hecky, especially away from home, so its all about how many results we can grind out away from home and hope the home form carries us through.

Good points. It frustrates me that when we go two one up we immediately stopped doing what we were doing well (not that I want to bring negativity into my positive threat!)
we would expect United to pepper any opposition leading by a single goal at the Lane. . There's always 2 teams trying to get something out of games and that's why the championship is so competetive

For the umpteenth time. It's not the result today or even this season so far that is frustrating (I'm quite happy with a draw at Boro). Its the negative tactics away from home and the continual picking of favourites. Bringing on McBurnie today instead of either of the 2 City lads or Khadra, was absolutely fuckin ridiculous. Pleased with a point today, fuckin annoyed that it could and should have been 3 but for poor game management.

No it’s not, I’m shitting in mine anall thinking he’ll probs start Fleck and “give it away” Nozzer against Sunderland
Shitting is different, wetting the bed another matter. Shit away…..

This is the new directive though isn’t it, as per the referees association. All refs have been instructed to allow more physical contact, as they feel that the game has become stupid…. Which was the right decision for once.

The response however from players of both teams, was to hound the referee to book players….this needs to stop.

For me personally, I think marriner is a bit off pace and mesh when it comes to making decisions. It wasn’t his worse game, but wasn’t without fault today either.
Heckingbottom was shown a yellow card for his hounding.

The board gave him big bucks and a 5 year contract to make those decisions. Fleck and Nozzer will be quite happy as he keeps playing them over anyone else.

Lets just face it , apart from a few seasons under Mr Wilder, we are normally poor starters most seasons...
We've been known to not even start to kick on until Christmas,!!!!!
Makes it more exciting and is a good excuse when we just miss out on promotion ....... ;)

We were usually slow starters under Wilder as well.

I believe we've only ever won at the Riverside once. Terrible conditions and we played 3 days ago.

Not sure when we lost Clark, but given we had to play RND and Lowe at the back a draw is a good result. Anel looked good again.

An according to some, we should have had a penalty and that goal shouldn't have been allowed, so 4-2 win. But still clueless and terrible. 🥱
Anal was poor

Anal was poor

The issue was that the opposition manager knew exactly what he was up against, as will every other manager this season.

Heckingbottom has only one way to play, and he did not even develop it himself.

you don’t go up getting the odd point away from home, you go up by beating inferior teams away from home.
I get that it’s disappointing to not win after leading twice but our opening 2 away games are probably in the top 6 of the most difficult we will face. Hardly ‘inferior’ teams.

Well, that’s another Sunday afternoon ruined. Go 2-1 up in the second-half, lose concentration defending a late corner and allow the opposition striker a close-range header to equalise, 2 points thrown away. It is hard to watch the team look as if they don’t care, with a manager who can’t sort out such a simple thing as defending a corner. No wonder the Chelsea fans are complaining🤣

No where near as bad as a lot were making out. It was ok, little more, little less. Probably a 6.5/10.

On another day we get the penno and they're done at HT. Still only 3 games in and finding our feet - hopefully the squad depth, especially the forward positions, wins us a few points in this hectic month.

Promising signs for me.

I'm relatively happy.

Berge took his goal brilliantly and is in the richest vein of goal scoring form of his career.

Even though our 2nd goal was an OG, Rhian Brewster's involvement in it is bound to be a confidence booster looking ahead.

It's a point away to a side that is likely to be in the mix by the end of the season. The first point we've obtained from Middlesbrough since 2009.

Quick quiz: in which season did we last have more points after 3 games than we do at present?
