Yes we missed the presence of big John Brayford commanding the back four like he has all season. Listen we all knew Brayford would be a miss tonight, but if Clough hadn't fucked up the centre back positions this season he wouldn't have had to be quite so tetchy with the reporter.

Can i just say this....

Reading a lot of unitedites comments tonight i feel ashamed to support the same club as you, people are coming out with death threats, insults and just the same shit.. you'd think the leader of ISIS was managing us..

Clough tried...he gave us a lot to be grateful for (cup success, and yes the cup is irrelevant when compared to the league)...he's 49 year old man managing a football team we support...he didn't get us promoted, fair enough, will the next manager get us promoted?

Annnd that's football I'm afraid, it's entertainment, we watch overpaid men kick a ball around on grass but at the end of the day we SUPPORT our team, that's our identity, these last 5 years have been pretty shitty but I'm sure our time will come.

But yeah..Clough isn't the right man for the job, but tweeting negative and nasty stuff about him is only ruining and embarrassing our reputation.

The fact that you refer to losing in two semi-finals as "cup success" says it all for me......we lost in a semi-final again last night, was that a fucking success too.....?

I'd keep Clough. The one thing that scares me more than our defence is the prospect of having a new manager who fails in Weir-esque fashion and we have to go through that rigmarole all over again.

A big statement from the chairman and manager is needed ahead of next season, we need to address the concerns we all have (style of play, recruitment in defence etc) and be clear what the expectations are.

I can see why some would want a change, but personally I think theres enough there for us to stay with Clough, the managerial upheavals are tiresome.

I'd give him another crack. It's his 1st full season and in many ways he's suffered from it being our 4th and being so desperate to get up. He has failed but we've been here before and I think stability will pay off.

A couple of points 1) Knows what we need to do re CHs 2) Wants to play attacking football.

The proof of the pudding might be in the eating.

I do share the concerns about his treatment of McNulty. He went out of his way to criticise him.

I still think give him till Christmas. If it hasn't worked out by then we might be in Division 3 a very long time

Anyone with a grain of intelligence WHF knows we need cb's. We knew that at the start of the season. But Clough decided to do fk all about it and yet has the audacity to highlight it to us and the interviewer now he's failed. It's ok tho, he's gonna sort it for next season!

As for wanting to play attacking football, again it's been highlighted time and time again, week in and week out about the dross we've been served up and yet Clough mentions it as if it's some kind of new brand of Pep Guardiola esque type football. The only reason we attacked last night is because we were losing the tie from Thursday and it was unfortunately shit or bust. Next season will be the same methodology as this season. Cautious Nige. He won't change is my view

The bloke shoud've been doing the right things this season, not talk about it for next. He's failed and failed miserably unfortunately

we have not played the same back four in two games running. no wonder they don't know what they are doing.. clough's propensity to fall out with players (usually the more talented 'flair' players) really worries me. this is a sign of poor man management skills.. a vital charachteristic for a manager.. his criticism of mcnulty was totally out of order when you consider some of the performances that holt, higdon and coutts have served up over the season.. was mcnulty playing centre back.. no.. so shut the fuck up mate.

He's more likely than not to keep his job, however the board need to do theirs and question his decisions this season. There have been some awful decisions.

This is year 3 apparently so failure is not an option this time Nigel, so you might as well try and win games and not nick them! If he thinks this pre-season is going to be uneasy, a bad start to the season just won't be tolerated.

Please also don't sign any Derby CB's and stop blaming young players, especially when the whole team doesn't turn up till it's too late.

Indeed, that's what happened when he last played away at Swindon.

I wouldn't dispute any of that Loughboro but I would still have rather approached the game with a recognised CH.

You've got a point there Sheff'...I'm not against Collins,and he's had way to much stick at times,but we've needed to replace him for a long time.Agree that Alcock and McEveley were shite,but it's been going on for weeks about bringing Collins back,even though Bash and Brayford were doing ok recently...they were 7 or 8 out of 10 most games..Anyway,Cloughy's first job ...sort us out a good Centre Back pairing.

I'm probably a little harsh as he has had a good goalscoring record and has shown he knows where the net is. However, the rest of his game is frankly awful at times and I'm not sure that he will go on to be the player we want. Therefore I would take 200k for him if offered.

To note I am not saying that to back up Clough's criticisms of him as I believe they have been a bit ott even if some have been deserved.

I did quite like him booting his best chance miles over for a conversion, frustrating as it was - the sheer awfulness of the effort broke a bit of the tension that had been building.

As I have said before, Clough has absolutely no man management skills and bugger all charm. I can't really see much to commend the bloke. However, we have to give him some backing but when you look at the dross he has brought in : Coutts, Holt (the lightweight who I gather is to be signed permanently), McNulty, Higdon etc etc, we really do have to question not only his man management but also his selection techniques.

Hopefully by the start of the season we will have a goalie who can handle shots to his right and who actually communicates with his backs (Kenny?): a centre back who dominates and who can take the ball at the opposition (Maguire?); a midfielder that can actually hold on to the ball and develop play: a skipper who can actually motivate the team: and a forward to complement Done.

Hopefully, some of the above will be over 5 foot 8 and will be on board for the start of the season. If we are not in the auto spots by the end of November, I suspect Clough will be on his bike.

That effort summed up his all-round game as well - Done was completely free at the back post for a tap in but McNulty either didn't see him (lack of vision) or ignored him (dreadful decision making).
