Main early contender for this summer’s Not Good Enough For Us Club, on here and elsewhere, looks to be Conor “not for me thanks” Coady.
176 Prem appearances, 99 of them during the last three seasons.
In the two seasons before that, played every minute of every game for Wolves in Prem, Europa League and FA Cup during 2019/20, and every minute of Prem and domestic cup games during 2018/19, in a side that finished 7th in the Prem both times.
10 caps for England, all in the 2020s, and a member of the tournament squad that came runners-up in the 2021 Euros.
NOT good enough for us!
The ghost of McCabe past! We signed James Wallace for that position instead who managed the grand total of 14 games in 3 years. Feel the due diligence on that.He was good enough for us. It's just that McCabe wouldn't part with the £375k to buy him when he was up for grabs so Huddersfield did.
McCabe = a warning from history

Apart from when getting tied in van Aken level knots by Adebayo before Luton's goal.
Aye he improved, but I thought the defence (including Kyle) were all over the place first half.Apart from when getting tied in van Aken level knots by Adebayo before Luton's goal.
How many players have we sold/released where the decision wasn’t based on the player wanting out/decent bid that was instantly good enough?
It’s almost like playing 100s of games of senior football gives players the chance to improve![]()

All sold for needed money or because they asked to leave. I put that proviso in my last postOver my lifetime it has been too many. Deane, Fjortoft, Currie, Salmons, Murphy ... even McDonald ... the list is endless.
Many say we have always been a selling club. Until recently I'd say that was always the case.
Every day I dread the shock news we have sold NDaiye for 'undisclosed'

The midfield we had when he left, Coutts, Fleck, Duffy was an absolute street ahead of where he was then though.Agreed - nothing enhances development more than regular games.
Marginal one maybe but Ben whiteman - certainly playing at the same level as signings made after him are.
After that you maybe go back to sharp - who obviously we should have kept and he could have had a ridiculous career here given how he improved and changed his game as he’s aged.
…or BillyI think there was more to it than him not being good enough although Blackie couldn't find a place for his teammate Dyer.

If he'd come along 3 years earlier he might have gotten that game time with us
Fair points on the other signings. I do like that United (other than Slater for whatever reason) do a really good job of moving players on as soon as it becomes clear they aren't going to playYeah. Said it was a marginal one
He might not have made the first team but imo We could probably have saved some cash spent on Leonard, Lee Evans and carruthers. Who he might have been able to replace with no drop off in quality.
He seemed to shine immediately for donny and garner interest from there.
some players play better for other clubs shock
works both ways
weve had players do well for us move on and been pants
its down to the players settling in and feeling part of the club
we got up by making players feel wanted here this season
To be honest, we'd have sold him if we could!!* coughs * Moussett * coughs *

its amazing how weve got to 4 championship playoffs and won promotion to the prem 3 times with all these shits players weve had and all bar 1 season top half championship ,I'm not sure we've had many come here and 'do well'.
It seems that pulling on the red and white striped transforms many players into single-issue bobbar. I have no idea what those stripes do to footballers' mentalities which has them thinking they should put some snow on the ball and boot it up the pitch. Only a few have come here and blown us away, shifting what we have up a notch. Egan, O'Connell, some others have changed the way we play for the better but with others it has been like getting blood out of a rock

Considering our budget think we have to be a bit realistic about expectation. We don't pay wagees at the level others can. We regularily exceed expectation.Calm down eh?
Can you honestly say that the past ten years (for example) has shown real consistency of form and performance across the pitch. By that I mean every player has fitted in quickly and delivered the similar output his predecessor had or even better? Let me give you Max Lowe as a start point then we'll move onto Ampadu, Lundstram, Burke, Brewster, Doyle M, Flynn, Collins, Woolford, Sammon, Carruthers, Freeman L, Bryan and then the rest of the duffers Wilder brought in on a whim who sat in the dugout taking up space?
Admit it, even getting to those playoffs (and failing) was hit and miss for most of the journey
