If losing there and not qualifying for Europe is the worst that the 13-year curse can do to us this season, then things are looking up...Nearly qualified for Europe went to the last match away at Birmingham needing to win and other results go for us ( que silent to give us the exact details ) wonder if we may need to do the same at Southampton ⚔ UTB NBM

it did doormat think TC also put one over the bar late on which would have made it 1-0I went to Brum that night.
they just lumps out of T.C. all night, think it finished 0-0 and we missed out.
ahhh so now i know rev , expected silent to give us the details do you know why it was midweek as i remember mi owd dad coming to take me out of school to goAt the time, it was thought that failing to win at Birmingham had cost us a place in the UEFA Cup, but this proved not to be the case because:
1. We finished 6th, Stoke 5th, Everton 4th.
2. As Liverpool were runners up, it was assumed that Everton would not qualify because of the "one city one club" rule in force for the UEFA Cup at the time. Hence it was thought that all we had to do was finish above Stoke to qualify.
3. As it turned out, the one City one club rule was abolished in the close season, so Everton qualified anyway, and Stoke missed out, which meant that we would also have missed out even if we had beaten Birmingham.
its very hard to say two totally different era,s they were both great teams , i think all things considered it was more of a level playing field then , so on that i would say this teamWas mulling this over recently. Comparing today's team and that one, started by JH carried on by Furphy, which one?
All things being equal with the sports science, training and facilities would it be them boys or these?
Would any be swapped around?
Where was Matthew Syed when you needed him ?I went to Brum that night.

Silent Blade explained this on another thread. It had been postponed earlier in the season. Last game of the season should have been last weekend of April but some postponed games were played after this. Used to happen quite often in those days before foreign managers/martin samuels complained about integrity of the game that had served it fine for best part of 100 years.it did doormat think TC also put one over the bar late on which would have made it 1-0

Wasn’t the Burnley game the turning point, when we had to wait beyond the ‘end’ of the season to see if we were promoted? I seem to recall it changing quite soon after and remember people saying how ridiculous it was that the issue of promotion was delayed beyond the end of the season and it wasn’t fair on clubs.Silent Blade explained this on another thread. When the 1974-75 fixtures came out, we were scheduled to play at Birmingham on 5/4/75. Birmingham reached the semi final of the FA Cup and played against Fulham on 5/4/75 which was why our fixture at St Andrews was re-arranged for midweek.Silent Blade explained this on another thread.
