I noticed after the Chelsea game, the first track on the tannoy was One Step Beyond by Madness. Appropriate since Suggs is a Chelsea fan. It got me thinking though, why do we never play The Housemartins at the Lane? Paul Heaton is probably our most prominent "musician" fan, and with tunes like Happy Hour and Caravan of Love they have tunes that could really stir the crowd. Come on Gary - stick some on!

Agree. Not a big fan but we really should be playing Happy Hour.

Was Norman Cook (fat boy Slim) in the Housemartins? Think he's a Brighton fan.

On the Paul Heaton link we could always go for the Beautiful South and when we've won the next 9 games Gary Sinclair could play 'Perfect 10'.

I like a bit of Def Leppard - "Pour some sugar on me" would go down well. Still it's not really a case of one or the other is it.

Yep, played bass for them.

Didn't the drummer of The Housemartins murder someone?

Def Leppard are utter garbage and a stain on an otherwise impressive musical legacy for the city of Sheffield.

Agree about getting a bit of Housemartins played on the tannoy.

Also, we need a new tannoy.

Tannoy system needs an upgrade at some point, speaker near where we sit used to cut out a lot, not as much this season though

We do need a new tannoy - it's been sounding pretty weak on the Kop the last few years - used to sound great but it's had some hammer.

Housemartins a bit too tinny and poppy for me.

Although Happy Hour would be preferable to another "famous" singer's song from the 1960s, Blades fan Dave Berry and "The Crying Game"

I'll start

" I KNOW ALL THERE IS TO KNOW ABOUT THE CRYING GAME"

So do we Dave

Think Heaton aside they are far more affiliated with Hull. They play their stuff at 'Ull all the time.

I believe the Housemartin who wore glasses, was a season ticket holder at the Lane years ago

I like em, I remember sitting a couple of seats away from paul Heaton away at west brom, he talked to fans on the concourse at half time and seemed a nice bloke.

They look a right set of daisy mays in that dance sequence in Happy Hour

Intake Blade - Just want you to know that you nicked my username! This was my username on all Blades sites between 1998 - 2012! I'm happy for the legend to live on though as I create a new one :p

Just took a 'phone call from Flea of the Red Hot Chilli Peppers - he's desperate to play a half-time set at Bramall Lane with Paul Heaton.

FACT

(got to say we should send him a comp ticket for any promotion clincher type game we might play this season it would be would be a nice gesture and good P.R.)

When the heat was on over Ched, Heaton dropped this club faster than a tart's knickers.
