The Girl With The Blades Tattoo

Earlier today, whilst strolling along the front in Elounda, Crete (OK, got the shameless holiday alert in early, but we might not be so smug if we have to self isolate for 14 days when we get back on 12th Sept), I was somewhat surprised to see a lady coming out of a shop and sporting a cross cutlass/Blades tattoo on her right shoulder.

I couldn’t help myself and said I’d like to introduce her tattoo to my cross cutlass/1889 logo on my Sheff U leisurewear T-shirt. I asked her if the tattoo was significant and she said absolutely, TRAWW meant everything to her and she was looking forward to to watching the Derby friendly later today. She‘d taken out a sub for all the friendlies, which was more than I had.

That’s the end of the story, but it occurred to me she might even post on here, so she could confirm it, although she might not want to be reminded of being accosted in the street by an elderly gentleman, claiming to be Blade, the most unlikely chat up line ever. Mrs Trig, with me at the time, certainly thought so 🙂

I thought better of you Trig than to be holidaying with the tattooed masses. :)

Not unless that photo has been flipped :)

But also to echo Flawed point, just because you’ve hidden it behind a spoiler tag, doesn’t mean it isn’t downloaded to a computer* and hence if this thread is viewed on a work computer it could make the unsuspecting user breach an IT policy.

*well not unless Foxy has implemented lazy loading of images inside Spoiler tags. :)

I used to work with a developer whose preferred technical forums were a bit fruity. He’d be sat in the office, researching java issues whilst adverts for cock extension pills would flash across his screen. Animated throbber gifs agogo.

Thinks he’s now head of IT somewhere...

My sister lives in Elounda but i don't think it was her (she is probably 65ish now too!). However, she is always in the Peacock bar for the Blades matches as her mate Dave runs it! By the way, what a beautiful place Elounda is!

Malibu bar across the road has a fine collection of football shirts including a Blades shirt I donated, all being well (??) I will be there next week

Ah! Elounda! Is that wonderful fish restaurant on the harbour still there? Went there twice in the early 80s. I love Crete!

And, the theme tune from the BBC Series, Who pays the Ferryman, filmed in Elounda and broadcast in 1977

There are a few, not sure which one you might mean. However, on that same harbour front, there are three restaurants, all named after films/TV series filmed locally, The Ferryman (as mentioned by you), The Lotus Eaters and Moon Spinners.

Walked past it this morning and although it wasn’t open, it’s advertising Nations League games later in the week, so it is at least trading. Most places are open, but it is very quiet. I really feel for the restaurants and bars, they’re all taking the Covid precautions seriously and have just had another setback with Scotland and Wales imposing quarantine on return. If England does the same, that’s the season over.

This is our second time here and it is just wonderful, the climate, the scenery, the sea, the food, the people and I’m not surprised The Girl With The Blades Tattoo chose to live here.

There was only the one there at the time. I remember it being on the bit that juts put into the harbour and it was at the water's edge with a view into the inlet rather than towards the land. That was the first time I'd tried swordfish. It was so tender.

I think I know who you mean. I once saw her get involved in a rather nasty incident with a Watford fan outside Vicarage Road.

After a brief exchange of words, she basically launched herself at him Cantona style.

Since then I’ve always known her as the “girl who kicked the hornet’s chest”

Yes i probably know her ;). Agios Nikolaos is a must.

I went into Rudi's (the ska looking place with the scooter on the roof) a few years ago and ordered our drinks in my best Greek.

The owner turned out to be from bloody Bridlington

Did she kidney punch him too?

Dear Girl With The Blades Tattoo,

I’m really sorry, this started out as part travelogue, part social media post, but I should have known better really.

Within minutes, it was dragged down to gutter level and sidetracked by the shower of shiftless, slothful, sexist shirkers, slackers, scrimshankers and skivers that inhabit this board, discussing ways of getting round the office porn filter. Assuming you don’t post on here, and frankly, why any right thinking person would want to, you’re best out of it.

Anyway, Mrs Trig and I enjoyed our chance meeting and you have chosen a very beautiful place to live, as far removed from the stench and squalor of this message board as can be, well done you!

UTB!

Trig

What about her others ,did you not try the old 'I'll show you mine if you show me yours' routine 😜

Yes, the Malibu bar is further down the road - is it still run by a Dutch guy and his wife?

God sake, some of us have had to cancel our holidays this year and are still gutted. Can you tell us about all the crap places you've been instead

Well I'm on way into Leeds right now to celebrate our 43rd wedding anniversary.

We should have been on a cruise ship in Stockholm.

Hope that makes you feel a bit better 😉
