I'd have thought you'd be keen to keep your footballing opinion to yourself Pinchy after your embarrassing support for Leon Clarkes inclusion in the starting eleven

Oh I think the embarrassment goes around a little more evenly than that:

doing my nut in. Had 2 blokes in front of me, not been there all season but came on Boxing day and yesterday. Then we do lump it in and one of their giant heads it away . Cue "that was shit"

There's some arrogant patronising fuckers on here. Why all this shit talk about part time fans every time we get a decent crowd.I don't have a season ticket but go to most games but sit in different seats. It could've been me you was talking about. I hope it is me the next game and I annoy you to fuck.

Part-timers are very welcome. Numpties less so. They may be distinct groups; there may be an overlap. It's my team as much as theirs. Their right to spout vitriolic drunken bile interferes with my enjoyment of watching my team. I have the right to say, without any arrogance at all, that they are fucking clueless numpties.

These half decent teams that keep turning up and playing for 0-0... I can understand them doing it and should imagine others will being doing the same in the second half of the season.

Thing is, they generally lose. It's not working very well for them.

I have a vision that we will look back on this season and remember the fluid, high tempo games when we scored freely. But it'll be these games that we ground out results that will be the ones that get us to our final destination, wherever that may be.

I'm not one for Blind Tufty Faith, but truth be told, I think he's getting these games spot on. It's not a drop in form, it's grinding out results against defensive teams.

Plenty of them, thank Pele. Tuftyball is proper football. It won't have escaped you that he keeps them playing the right way when other managers would resort to kickinitlongkickinitardkickiniti thus playing into the opposition's hands. That's why and how we score the vital late goals.

I bet you're right going off Tufty, aren't you?
Why would I be going of Tufty?
So again. We're you gutted when your favorite ever player just hit the ball in the box like that?
So now that you have stopped abusing people, as your next best expression of frustration you have now invented a new Dictionary. Don't you think you should supply forum members with one?

Oh and Pinchy, can you tell us all who in your opinion of the players who played yesterday are your "proper footballers" and who are not.
Please do not avoid the question with something else , just tell us all.

I'm not Pinchy but I'd suggest they are all "proper footballers" playing "proper football"

I think you are missing the point I was trying to make. I am not trying to condone mindless spouting. It is the assumption that the people who are doing this are the part time fans and not the regulars, i.e. the lesser blades. I take it that this is not what you mean.

It hasn't escaped me that those who wanted Wilder in the first place were rubbished as "gerritinbox merchants" by you.

In the "I got it spectacularly wrong" chart, that's your number 2. Nothing can dislodge number 1, the "real football manager David Weir"

You can't tip tap your way around 11 men camped in their box. You have to smash it in hard and low or try a potshot and hope for scraps and rebounds. Like we did yesterday.

In games at the lane we need to start scoring early while it's quite open. Once it gets to about the 60th minute onwards panic sets in and the oppo will sit happy with the 0-0.

I sit on the kop and hear many ludicrous comments.. I don't agree with a lot of them. But each of us is entitled to say what we want, within reason. My point is I'd rather have these folk in the ground than sat at home.

Yesterday was a frustrating game - 24,000 people aren't going to sit and wait patiently for the goal to come. It's fire in the belly and passion that makes us scream out sometimes daft comments! These people contributed to a loud and proud GCB

Surely the crowd should get behind the team then rather than sit quietly and groan when it doesn't go our way. The noise notably lifted after we scored and it was no coincidence that we nearly got a 2nd straight after because of this. The noise seemed to lift the tempo of the players.

I'd agree but he thinks otherwise.

I can't think of one who played yesterday who is not a proper footballer. I think they played the game well and I don't agree with the view that we are playing poorly not struggling against these teams. Rather I think we are working hard and getting the results.

They are however, footballers that play in the third tier of football and whilst undoubted quality, it is unreasonable to expect them to be flawless because if they were then they would not be playing for us. It's obvious that IF we get promoted we would need to strengthen for the Championship. So I am pleased to see Wilders tactics and pleased to see footballers working hard to impress these on the opposition. And winning more often than not.

That's dead right. The players haven't got a clue what 20,000 people are individually yelling, all on top of each other. They will just hear a noise and this will spur them on.

Agree again. Duffy who is our form midfielder was an example yesterday. Fantastic run in the 1st half ended when he tripped on the ball and although that was a stark example, it will be things like that that have him only playing at this level. Love his attitude though always trying to support the play and defends well.

Duffy was my MOTM, until THAT save

I think Duffy had an absolute nightmare yesterday myself. Tried to do too much at times and lost it.

At other times he looked like doing a bit and hung on too long.

I endured a few "gerritintbox" groans around me yesterday.

But my favourite moan from yesterday was "kick it!!!"

You take it correctly. I agree with you. Your post was just a convenient one to hang my hat on. I do it quite a lot, and people think I'm disagreeing with them. Not necessarily; just joining in a flow of opinions.

But that panic is only in the crowd and doesn't help. Happily Tufty and the players (unlike the numpties in the crowd) don't panic. They don't (unlike the numpties) lose patience. They don't (happily) follow your advice and just "smash it in the box" (dear, oh dear). They keep playing their football. The 'oppo' tire. Gaps appear. We score. They are not happy with the 0-0 because they don't get it.

I'd agree but he thinks otherwise.

You are making things up, now. I explained what I think at #59.

We have players of varying degrees of quality but, largely thanks to Tufty, they are at least trying to play the game the right way. The nearest thing we have to a non-footballer in the best Montgomery tradition, is Done, but we won't be enduring him too much from now on, thank Pele.

The best footballers we have are Coutts, Fleck and Duffy. I would have thought that went without saying...

Sometimes you have no choice but to smash it in the box. Play when you can, but sometimes you have to get back to basics. We did it yesterday and we scored. You can't find gaps in a box with 11 defenders in it. Sorry but that's just not gonna happen.

But it does. All the time. The proof is there in the results column!!

Happily Tufty is dictating our play, not you or I. Pele bless his bushy tail...

So they are all your so called "proper footballers" then apart from Done. You use the term so should we take it as that?

Ah yes, the two things I have got wrong in my entire tenure as the "go to" guru on here....

As you well know, you New Year Mischief Maker, I pubicly repented on the Tufty issue. As for David, he has a glorious career ahead of him...it's just a matter of time... :)

A Proper Happy New Year to you. May Tufty nibble your Nuts in May...
