The Friday Nite Storm

I won't be going, and I'll be disgusted if it goes ahead. Anyway, for tomorrow I've got a plate of smashed avocado and warm oat milk with my name written all over it.
Have you upset your wife again?

Knowing ahead of time that it’s at risk and it’s already at an inconvenient time anyway because of TV, but surely common sense would be to cancel it now, more than 24 hours ahead of the game on Friday and move to Sunday/ Monday/ Tuesday/ Wednesday* when this storm should’ve passed.

Neither side are playing midweek next week and anyone that can’t make it gets a full refund (since it’s on tv anyway and should be moved to a tv appropriate time)

The storm will have passed by 5.00 pm today

Was up and out before 4am. Was a bit grim. Plenty of rain and gusty. Home now and already noticeable better. Watched the met office video on YouTube from last night and it looks fine for later today. Bit windy but nothing to threaten the game. Hopefully all roads and public transport back running by then

Flicked ITV on just nowfrom Cyprus and some weather bloke was stood in a harbour in Scotland with wind and rain battering him. Apart from being a very American approach it’s absolutely not necessary

I’m all for this climate change bollocks to make things seem worse with ref warnings, named storms and maps which show extremes, but I’m not sure it’s necessary to put a bloke out there in the weather. I’m pretty sure that even stupid people can understand that it’s windy outside

ITV woman in the studio stressed that the bloke had taken all the precautions to be out there - which seemed to be by wearing a decent coat with a flappy hood. So not quite all the precautions as he could’ve pulled the toggles in to tighten the hood to his head

Ask BoSS if he wants a roomie??

A threesome with me and junior?
As it happens, I'd booked into the hotel but with LNER running virtually no trains from my area, Cross Country trains from up here not starting until Leeds and as for TransPennine and Northern! Would have been my first match since before Christmas when I had an operation to reconstruct a tendon. On top of missing loads of matches due to a replacement knee op in August, my season has been totally buggered. I've only down for about 3 games so was really looking forward to today

A couple us Blades live in Ohio... what's the current weather like in Sheffield? Game will be played?

toledo
Forecast here is positive. Winds are the only factor that'd impact travel, and everything is showing for no impactful restrictions after about 3pm on the roads

I'd say the game is not at risk

Should be fine. It's not that bad now and forecast to be back down to a 'moderate breeze' by kick off.

About 50% of trains are cancelled, so not great, but those who are on the train should be able to manage somehow...

I’m here in Sheffield, it’s bad (very windy) but not that bad….it seemed windier than this just a few week back.
And according to the weather app the wind is at it’s strongest now….it supposed to be 25 mph winds with 55 mph gusts.
But it then starts easing off during the afternoon…by the time the match starts it’s down to 10mph winds with 30mph gusts.

Still windy but nothing too serious….i’d say the match is 100% going ahead.
Also it would need to be 100 mph hurricane winds for Sky Sports to cancel one of their transmissions….they never cancel any TV event.

As Cappy says it’s only the travel in the early afternoon that will be effected, think some train services have stopped running.

The only storm will be SUFC romping home to a 5 - 0 win and 3 points.
