The mrs was out with billy sharps mrs jade for drinks at weekend,(were school friends), jade says he wants to come back to blades and will take a pay cut to do it. He wants to play for adkins again and they both have been wanting to move back to sheff as they never settled anywhere since they left and most of the family are still here. He is still pissed off with how it ended last time ............so now i would say the balls in blades court. He would do a job in L1 for sure, we just need to give him the service from the wings, which lets face it, he never really got last time. I think sharp and done upfront would tear L1 defences apart. Lets see if adkins and the board feel the same

My Mrs knows his cousin. He was all set on signing for the pigs as he wanted to move back home. Apparently signed for Leeds because of this.

I suppose footballers are only human, living away from your close family can be a struggle.. Especially with what has happened in his private life.

Billy will sit on his last year of his contract unless someone can come up with an offer that is not far off it, the Blades would have to stump up perhaps half of it (9k) and get Leeds to pay the other half while we get him on loan for this up and coming season as that's the only conceivable way i can see us going for him. I personally don't want him back as i think we have other positions to ponder over and i wouldn't want to see him fail for a third time either.

'Returning striker X would rip this league apart!'

We've heard that before. The result was two red cards, no goals and watching the grunters pip us to promotion.

Indeed, when Beattie and Sharp were in the same side in their first and second spells respectively, Beattie made Sharp look worse than ordinary.

NA is a different matter but the fans wouldn't be entertaining it if he wasn't a Blade. Just remember, NA has also signed Forte twice :)

Good point - let's get the re-sign Forte bandwagon going. Consider it:

- signed by Adkins twice before, double the number of times he's signed Sharp
- he scored 15 (fifteen) goals (actual goals) in League 1 last season
- he has "unfinished business" and "a point to prove" at the Lane

I'll just leave this post here while I go and dig out the "Forte: An Apology" thread...

Indeed he did! Forte, 15 goals in 34 appearances. That's some strike rate! 0.4 goals per match

Billy got 5 goals in 28. That's err...not quite as good? 0.2 goals per match

It's a no brainer sign Billy he played under NA. Hold on, so did Forte?

Sign em both. Us Bladey Blades just can't lose on this one!

He's changed his mind since the last two possibilities then.

Take a pay cut is one thing to say and a totally different thing to do, especially to the level's he'd have to inorder to sign for us.

Personally I still don't see why we need him, and I'm not sure nostalgia is the best lead to follow in these decisions.

Forte's younger as well, maybe not hungrier :)

It's not even really nostalgia, it's wishful thinking. He's never been good for us, no matter who he supports.

Is Billy unhappy at Leeds then playing in the Championship ?. I know he appears to have an affinity with Nigel, but why would he be falling over to come back here ?. Just can't see it myself but will be happy to be proved wrong.

Not really nostalgia though is it? He was a square peg in a team full of round holes last time, at least this time he'd have a chance to hit the ground running with a manager and (I hope) system he has previously excelled under.

As for people saying we don't need him, he once scored 32 goals in league and cup in one season while in this league (under the same manager!), forgive me but you'll have to point out the three or four (or one) 32 goal per season strikers we have in our squad, because I've forgot who they are?

He hasn't scored more than 10 goals a season since 2010/11, and hasn't scored more than 15 since 2006/7.
That's a far more concerning stat.

I never knew Billy had a cat...where does it play?

Ok...

We are having some landscape gardening work done by a bloke who is a LUFC season ticket holder and his brother works for a firm of solicitors that have a contract with BAE Systems at Warton. His bro apparently knows someone there who worked on the stealth systems of the Typhoon Euro Fighter and does a lot of hush hush work for DARPA in the States. Apparently this technician was recently on business in Saudi to help sell aircraft tech for the yanks when he got invited to a get together at a posh hotel where there were a few influential members of the Saudi royal family and government present. As he was making small talk with a group of them, he got into a conversation with a dapper bald headed american gentleman with a beard. The american guy, noticing his english accent asked him which football team he supported. Not having an interest in football, he shook his head and said that he wasn't really into sport. Giving him a quizzical look, the yank leaned in and whispered "See that Saudi gentleman over there stood amongst the royal entourage?"

"What the rather large, middle aged guy with the bald head and spectacles?" said the technician

"That's right" said the american.

"What about him?" He enquired.

The american leaned in a bit closer and said in no uncertain terms "Even that fat fucker can hit a cows arse with a banjo."

I would imagine that Billy is not as fast as he once was, so, he'll get flagged offside more often than before ;)

A+ for effort. Top of the class young man

Really? I haven't checked, but I thought N2 signed Billy at Scunny, Saints and Reading.

In which case, he signed Forte 2/3rds the number of times he signed Billy, though maths isn't my strong point.

Before she got neutered my cat was shagged by Billy's cat. My cat says that Billy hates United and would only come back to the Lane to take a dump on the centre spot.

Well your cats lying because my dog chased Billy's cat down the road the other day and when Billy's cat jumped up a tree he told my dog he did want to come back to the lane.

We need a big, tall, mobile striker, who can finish with his head as well as his feet. And one who is on the up and hungry, i.e. probably several years younger than Billy.

I like him. My heart still breaks for his awful family tragedy. He's a blade. But he's not the striker we need.
