God's country ...... Rovrum!

I don't think many Blades will be too upset over this after the disgraceful, 'back room deal' to nominate Swillsborough ahead of BDTBL.

For me, it just illustrates - yet again - the reason this country will never compete again at any level. Put some wanker who's entire career has been based on wearing the correct tie/blazer, an ability to arse-lick at every opportunity and never having once dipped a toe in the real world, and are we really surprised that they fuck up when the negotiating gets serious?

It applies to football and politics.

After our bid to becomme a host venue ended. So did my interest in the bid. Im not interested how England do in a football match. Unless a Blade happens to be playing. Or Jags. :)

Personally think this is absolutely scandalous reporting by the daily mail. I couldn't give a shit what Lord Triesman has said IN PRIVATE to a bird that he once had nookie with. If he wants to air those views in public then fair enough, but this wasn't.

I've no problem with the papers doing fake sheikh kind of stuff to catch the likes of erikson out but this Honeytrap is scheming manipulative bile of the highest order. But what do expect from the paper that supported the Nazi's?

(Oops! Godwin's law invoked inside 4 posts.......)

What grinds my tits off is that it will always be the pigsty and them twats that get chosen over us. So when the world cup does eventually come to these shores, no matter how run-down the shithole at S6 is it will always be chosen. So for me Hope the world cup never comes home. Feck em.

I find it very ironic that Lord Triesman is complaining - albeit to some woman in bed - about corruption in Spanish and Russian football. Maybe he needs to take a look in his own backyard first?

As a Blade, I can name several occasions when we have been shit on in favour of more fashionable others ... And I'm guessing similar other unfashionable sides will have similar grievances. For me, the Tevez affair (Trevor Brooking heading the FA and it surprisingly goes in West Ham's favour), the choosing of the Sty for the WC (Dave Richards, a Wednesday man, surprisingly choosing it over the Lane) and the countless number of big refereeing decisions given to the Big Four teams; these are all forms of corruption in some way or another.

World Cup 2018 - come on Spain and Portugal!

Can't agree with that and it's obvious a court wouldn't have done either.
How can there not be a clear public interest in the head of the FA claiming corruption at such high levels of the game?
If there is, what's he been doing about it - turning a blind eye?

I hope this is just the tip of the iceburg ,and other gems are unearthed. As for Dave Richards i am sure he would not wish his boyhood hated rivals , any unfair disadvantage would he ?

Wednesday's massive ground development plans were rushed through in about a month, whilst ours were approved in just under a year I think. It's a bit of a joke really, especially since ours would be self-funded whilst they have absolutely no way of paying for it. They can't get grants for the whole development so they're going to have to find a few million quid from somewhere.

They succeded in stopping us, which could have been their main aim all along , as we are both in the same market for future supporters . Selfish bastards ,

We'll have the last laugh when we are pushing our trollys around the shopping isles of Tesco Hillsborough.

Only made worse by the FA "The FA did try and fail to get an injunction against publication of the story on privacy grounds.
It was never coming to England anyway what with Spain/Portugal,Holland /Belgium double bids .
We should have submitted a joint British bid with matches in Scotland,Ireland ,Wales and England it would have been more appealing to foreign fans.

1. I agree that it was a disgusting piece of gutter journalism to entrap Lord T. It has done a huge amount of damage - for what purpose?
2. Is what he said true? If so, he should not be apologising - he should be praised.
3. All these bids - for World Cups, Olympic Games, etc. have long been riddled with corruption. Even the legendary Sir Stanley Rous had some devious ways of winning votes by courting some of the Third World nations and building up a power base.

I see that the deal between the bird and the Daiiy Mail was brokered by that nice Max Clifford.

'nuff said.

I think the bid was never a serious one in the first place. Cast your minds back 18 months or so and the stories that South Africa were having real struggles with getting ready for the summer, and may not be ready to host. Step forward the FA with a 'we're ready to step in. We can host a World Cup at a minutes notice.' Forward to the actaul process for 2018, and low and behold we enter a bid with hardly any grounds ready and most not even built yet. If I was a FIFA board member, I'd be sending 'em packing for lying through their teeth trying to cash in on South African issues.

Mind you, the whole process is going to leave Fat Les with more egg on his face than a mongoose in Tesco! Worth it :D :D
