The derby

I really don't see where this tag about being great one minute and woeful the next.....they are barely average.

West Brom apart their other victories, (Plymouth, Portsmouth & Coventry) have come against teams in and around them.

They have played 5 of the current top 6, losing 4 of them scoring 5 whilst conceding 16. They also lost 3-0 away to Millwall who had not won a game at that point and drew with Bristol City, QPR and Swansea.

If any other team was coming to BDTBL with that record we would be expecting a comfortable victory. As others have said, play the game, not the occasion and we win comfortably, let them worry about us, we play our normal game.

How many times have the pigs ever won at the Lane? Post war can't be many
January 1965
September 1967
February 2009

Also in the FA Cup

January 1954 (replay)
March 1960. My dad and my Uncle Ronnie missed the match because that day was the wedding of their other brother (who had no interest in football)!

I hope they approach it like we approached Leeds away.

Yeh think that's a certainty.
They'll sit back in numbers trying to frustrate us....then trying to sneak a 1-0 win.....on the break or from a set piece.
We've said this before....but 1st goal is key.

Damn you and your facts!! We only like pearl clutching. And people slag Wilder for bigging up other teams (at least Boro and Leeds are half decent)

I for one love derby day. Start the festivities Saturday night, continue as long as possible then hair of the dog Sunday morning in whichever establishment is letting in via the back door (oo-er). Good sing and chat with fellow Blades then Win or Lose it will alll be a blur 😀

They’ll be pumping it down the channels to Gassama from minute one. Stick Gilchrist on him and, with his pace and love of a good heavy challenge, I think that will be a dead end for them.
If he even thinks about playing Max Lowe (for the ex-factor) I can see Rak-Sakyi torturing him all day long.

wrong they count for everything, that's why we 3rd and they fending off relegation
Surely if that was the case then we shouldn't have done the double over them in the 91-92 season. I am old enough to remember both and based on form, league position and relative squad strength, we were massive underdogs that season.

2 shots 2 goals in that quarter final at the lane both by wilkinson i think they were under the cosh from start to finish

I'm going to wait to give my predictions until Roy's column as we know they will give a fair assessment of their team. The level headed comments should give us a window in how a sane minded football fan thinks......
Bollocks
7 - 0 Blades. Someone is getting a stuffing this season, might as well be our "sus scrofa domestics" pals

Just out of interest & I haven't read the entire thread , did wilder ever play in a Sheffield Derby? I'm going to say no , but I could be wrong .

And I think the gulf between the sides in terms of quality was bigger then than it is now. But I don’t know how anyone can be confident before a derby. In fact, before the final whistle and the game is won! I remember one game we were 3-0 up at half time and cruising and they pulled it back to 3-2 to make us sweat. 2009 or 10, I think.
