Have you considered that Trusty, Traore Slimane, Souza and Hamer might have are been bought with next season in mind, so that we have some players for next season to build a new team around, along with those that will still be under contract?
The Prince said he wanted us to sign young players with potential resale value. Let's say we go down and next season Traore has 6 goals and 8 assists by Christmas. In January another team comes in and offers £12mil for him. We sell him. We make £9mil profit on what we paid for him. Maybe, just maybe we find a replacement for him in the Scandanavian leagues like we did when we found him. We sign them for £3mil again and still have £6mil left for more signings. The conveyor belt rolls on.
The likes of Traore, Souza and Slimane were brought in because they were young, cheap (though Souza's fee is up for debate as no one seems sure what we paid), and they're on relatively low wages that we can afford in the Championship. That was made clear in the summer when we signed them. It was also suggested that none were likely to be ready for the Premier League, except maybe Hamer and Trusty, so we were arguably planning for next season this summer.
I agree it's just my opinion, but if Norwood, Fleck and Egan are still with us next season then I'll personally be angry.
