That yesterday was pathetic

I would be genuinely amazed if he stays in post. Whether or not he deserves to is not the point of my amazement. Not many lose 9 in 10, including a couple of hammerings, and keep their job

10 in 11 if you include the league cup loss to Lincoln…

How many of those players out of contract would you retain? Fleck? Basham? Norwood? Lowe? Bogle? Jebbison? McBurnie?

I wouldn't keep any of them for next season. We've retained them for too long as it is for no more than loyalty to them and sentiment based on the past. We need to clear out the deadwood and start fresh. New manager, new formation, new tactics, new players. I think the clear out when contracts expire could be a blessing in disguise.
Please, please, a new owner this twat doesn't give a shit!!

Wonder if Saliba needed to have his shirt cleaned?

You don’t have to look far to see the gulf between the Prem and the top end Championship teams.

The three promoted are struggling, and Leicester are flying in the Championship.

On top of this, the gulf gets bigger every season, so yes Blackpool did well but that’s a one off. Like my point, look at Forest.

We also now have the extended play time to compete with. Without that we beat spurs, and lose yesterday 3-0 instead of 5.

They’re all excuses really but my point is the odds aren’t stacked in our favour, they’re the opposite.

I’d be very surprised if it’s not us, Luton and Burnley all going back down.
Stating the obvious but how does that translate to last season when all three promoted sides survived easily ?

Yep, Norwood did fuck all last season didn't he. We retain these players for loyalty, yet let Sharp go because we didn't fancy being loyal to him. Clear them all out and we'll sign 15 new players with all our money. Smart stuff.

I like Hecky, and I think he’s been dealt a shit hand, but rolling over so easily is just not acceptable.

As a fanbase we really don’t ask for much, it’s not even like we expect to get results or even stay up, but we do demand that we get stuck in, make it difficult and at least make the opposition work for the win.

The performance was crap on Saturday, my Arsenal supporting mate described it as ‘really limp’ - he’d been expecting we’d be snapping into tackles and maybe offering something of a threat on the break but we did absolutely nothing to make it tough for them.

Norwood started the season strong. For first two months he was our best and most consistent player along with Norrington-Davies. After that he went back to his old self. Great one game, totally ineffective and invisible the next, not tracking back and letting runners go past him unopposed, dreadful set pieces etc. He's always been an inconsistent player. We need players who can perform in 8 out of 10 matches, not every other game or less. The only thing Norwood has ever done consistently is be inconsistent. He can go along with all of Wilder's old guard. Basham deserves his testimonial but he can go too along with Fleck. How Fleck is still here I will never know was he crap after the restart and stayed crap for the next two seasons, when he wasn't injured under Hecky, like 95% of the squad have been while he's been in charge.

Next season we need a fresh start. New manager. New formation and tactics. New players.

If half our squad leave on a free transfer I wouldn't be bothered as most are players I'd want rid of anyway. We'd be freeing up a lot of wages. Add to that the money we haven't spent this season and parachute payments and we could end up in a far healtier position long term.

We should've done this last summer or the summer before as we've held onto Wilder's old guard for far too long, living in the past.

100% all those that were out of contract should of gone, just keeping them “because they’ve been good servants”

Well, Norwood was good enough to have us finish top 2 starting most of last season, and he was arguably our best player when we went up under Wilder. Stats all proved it. Yet he's always been inconsistent...

You've given your opinion on how you'd like it to go above, which is fine. We don't NEED those things, you would like them.

You wouldn't mind more than half our squad leaving for free because you think they're crap, fine. It's not financially viable, particularly for a club in our financial situation, which is why you rarely ever see it. Fleck is at the club because the alternative is spending a few million on someone like Slimani, who is also nowhere near the level required.

If it makes you feel better to tell yourself that, then there's nothing anyone can do.

One last try though, they weren't kept for loyalty or because they were good servants. Millionaire businessmen don't spend millions on players because they are good servants. Nobody at the club has ever said that.

They were kept because we're skint. If we'd scraped together a few more million and brought in a few more like Slimani, Traore and Larouci, would we be doing loads better? We simply don't have the money.

Massive bottle bringing Osborn on and expecting the be employed Monday tbh
This literally makes no sense...

Anyway, who did you want Hecky to bring on? Odegaard or Jorginho? Brooks could have had a run out but he was probably being protected from humiliation.

Have you considered that Trusty, Traore Slimane, Souza and Hamer might have are been bought with next season in mind, so that we have some players for next season to build a new team around, along with those that will still be under contract?

The Prince said he wanted us to sign young players with potential resale value. Let's say we go down and next season Traore has 6 goals and 8 assists by Christmas. In January another team comes in and offers £12mil for him. We sell him. We make £9mil profit on what we paid for him. Maybe, just maybe we find a replacement for him in the Scandanavian leagues like we did when we found him. We sign them for £3mil again and still have £6mil left for more signings. The conveyor belt rolls on.

The likes of Traore, Souza and Slimane were brought in because they were young, cheap (though Souza's fee is up for debate as no one seems sure what we paid), and they're on relatively low wages that we can afford in the Championship. That was made clear in the summer when we signed them. It was also suggested that none were likely to be ready for the Premier League, except maybe Hamer and Trusty, so we were arguably planning for next season this summer.

I agree it's just my opinion, but if Norwood, Fleck and Egan are still with us next season then I'll personally be angry.

I have considered that, yes. Why are we bringing in players that have the potential to be good for us next season though? Because we've written this season off because we can't afford to compete. This is the same reason we retained Osborn, Norwood, Basham etc, yet it seems to baffle some on here.

I remember seeing a YouTube video where Hecky actually said "Look.. if I had my way....I'd love to keep all the players that got us promoted this season and give the likes of Fleck, Basham, Osborn, Sharp and Stevens new contracts".

I was shocked hearing that. Fleck and Stevens were often really poor last season, also Sharp struggled a bit too.
Here's me thinking, the PL is much higher standard, so if these players struggled in the Championship then what hope do they have in the PL.
If Hecky wants to retain Fleck, Stevens, Basham and Sharp to play in the Premier League he's either a liar or clueless.
I just assumed he was deliberately lying to come across as the good guy
because he wants to be polite to these players who all deserve respect for their past achievements at the club.

Plenty of posters were saying “we can’t let them go they’ve been good in the past” “let’s keep them all because there good in the dressing room”
Now there low end championship players.

The posters haven't kept the players though, the club has. You claimed the club kept them for these reasons. It isn't the case.

If you lose 5-0 to anyone you do it because you've gone for it. We did fuck all. Just sat there with 11 behind the ball for 90 minutes and still got fingered
we went for it against Newcastle when 0-3 down and getting picked of at random, unfortunately then conceding a further five

But a 17 year old One was just fine to humiliate 🙄
