That was rubbish

He was on FH on Friday saying 'I've asked the players to be more positive.' Asked? Fucking asked? Who's in charge here?

Made me realise that I've stopped listening to what Adkins has to say on interviews along time ago, last one who was like that was Robson and that's a bad level to be at.

And how long has Carvahal had at Swillsborough - 6 months? Don't tell me, he's had money to spend. We are possibly the biggest club in this piss-poor division in terms of backing, potential, crowds etc. and if Adkins can't get us higher than mid-table - nowhere near the play-off positions, he will have failed miserably.
Yes, Carvahal has had a lot of money to spend. You can't simply trivialise that.

You said he had failed, not that he will if we finish mid table.

This is no time to judge. 5 years in this division is understandably puddling the reasoning of many of our fans, but that's not the manager's fault. 6 months is an utterly ridiculous time to judge a manager (unless you're Barney who does it after one)

This is the kind of thinking that keeps poor managers in a job. When they go, it's all our fault - we're 'impatient' etc. Maybe it would help if, before the latest poor manager is sacked, we had some idea of a decent replacement - somebody who's not out of work, somebody who has evidence of success in the last couple of years. If we didn't keep employing poor managers, maybe we wouldn't have this merry-go-round?

I think we all understand the problems any manager of United faces - a board without ambition and which sells any asset and replaces them with patently poor alternatives. But that cannot excuse tactical ineptness (which we've seen far too many times this season), the one-eyed acceptance of a clearly over-the-hill Hammond, the shocking use of substitutes. Even the 'heroic' display at Old Trafford illustrated Adkins' mindset - defend from minute one and hope for...what?

Adkins mindset is not to defend as a hard rule. He's realised that we are not capable, with these players, of playing open football (Using the ManUre performance as an example is gobsmacking).

He's tightened us up and results have improved. Performance hasn't. But it's obvious what's happened. Again, I suggest you've lost your objectivity.

Winning the play offs?
What?
Utter Bollocks!

Every single one of the teams currently in the play off positions will do us over two legs.
We haven't got the bottle
Not got any pace or guile
The only game plan will be to play like we did vs Cov at home and try to grind a result out. Well that can get you a result in a one off game but over two legs we are bound to be out- scored. If we go one down we cannot chase the game - Wigan is a huge anomaly - if we go one up we will sit back, not take the game away from the opposition, and invite pressure on to eventually concede.

If we play the first leg at home (likely as we would only scrape into 6th - fifth looks too optimistic even at this stage) then we will need at least a two goal cushion to take into the second shift. I can't see us getting that against any of the teams above us in the table at present.

Poor performance, got an early goal and instead of finishing them off it was as though they sat back to defend a 1-0 lead from 8 minutes in, at home, against Swindon who are a shadow of the team they were last season and are on their third manager of the season. Why do they sit back , does it come from Adkins ?

After the match Adkins said he changed it at half time to diamond to counter Swindon, why is he countering their tactics at home. They are 14th in the league yet we are giving them more respect than Barcelona. Give them something to think about , like putting JCR or Adams on to run at their left back and keep him occupied so he can't spend most of the second half in our half.

Finally Adkins please don't keep saying after matches that the players are hardworking and honest, I think we can take that as your opinion by now and anyway who employs lazy and dishonest players. Just one thought, if you can find some players that will win matches that are dishonest and lazy, why not give it a go!!!!

How long did you give Robson ? ;)

Swindon are looking a very good side now, to be fair - the way they moved the ball round & interchanged was about as good as you're going to get at this level. But, because we kept a tight, disciplined defensive shape, they weren't really a threat until their one gilt-edged opportunity came along.

Awful to watch, embarrassing to be outplayed like that at home, but very nearly successful (& we didn't crumble & throw the draw away too this time). Looks like all style & aesthetic has been abandoned for the timebeing for the sake of results, based on what this group of players is capable of. Just so timid. Swindon could basically dictate for 90% of the game - they had no threat to worry about, even a counter-attacking one..

Adkins has had enough time to 'stamp his mark' on the squad and failed miserably. The board have no ambition. We - the supporters - are the only ones who escape blame for yet another wasted season.

I'm not sure he has had enough time. He was left such a mess to sort out, he couldn't just get rid of all the rubbish. He'll make errors along the way but given a chance I feel he will eventually succeed.

We have to stick with Adkins but he needs to start taking a more positive approach to matches. We started yesterday with 7 if not 8 players who aren't exactly blessed with attacking ability. I think there's one or two things we can tinker with immediately for Tuesday, starting with a change in formation and selecting players who may carry a goal threat.

Something like this would be my choice (albeit with the two wide men playing narrower than that)

You can swap Cuvelier for either Flynn, JCR or Adams but that team represents a bit of a shift in dynamic. Not sure Adkins could do without his 7 or 8 'big 'uns' though. Sure he'd like to shoehorn Woolford in too (no idea why tbf)

Agree we were terrible today.

We got an early goal and then just tried to coast to a 1-0 victory.
We let Swindon win the midfield and like against Man Utd at Old Trafford we parked the bus and
Swindon really struggled to create anything.

Disagree with the board have no ambition comments.

They've appointed the best (and probably most expensive) manager based on cv.
We've also brought it players who were on massive wages, Sharp and Hammond.
They've spent heavily in each Jan window.
Paying over 1 million for a defender is unheard of in league 1, Brayford was our talisman and leader.
We also bought Rochdale best player in Matty Done.
We've re-signed the hottest property in league 1 Che Adams when PL clubs came sniffing.

However I'm having doubts over Nigel Adkins.
Done doesn't seem the same player. We don't use wingers.
Our mental attitude seems to be wrong. We start slow and often let in late goals.

Based on today's performance we won't reach the playoffs. Swindon were better than us and going for the win.
BUT of course there's plenty of time to go and we can still make the playoffs.

The hottest property is pretty tepid this season I'm afraid.

Just before the Adkins interview last night Darren Ferguson was giving his reaction to a very poor Doncaster performance - he didn't slag individuals off he basically said how disappointed he was with the performance and that his side was capable of much better !
Mr Adkins then came on and gave a rose tinted resume of the match - he didn't once say that he was disappointed with the performance of the Blades and that we have now dropped 16 points at home which is not good enough for a side aspiring promotion !
Whist not a major fan of Mr Ferguson Jnr his honesty last night was refreshing
I for one have got sick and tired of Mr Adkins' after match interviews - Honestly, if he thinks that we created enough chances to win the game then he was obviously watching a different game to me and over 19,000 others !!!
I cannot remember their keeper having to do anything other than regulation saves !

If I was NA I would be going to the board requesting 3 or 4 players after that performance.

I don't disagree with needing players Brownie, but I don't think Adkins will change this team so unless its someone who is ready now to walk into the team or a personal favourite of Adkins its not going to happen
We used to complain that Clough had his favorites but Adkins is no different, he has clearly fallen out with Adams

Same with JCR. He got 2 minutes at Wigan. When the fans started chanting his name early in the. Second half you knew that there was no way Adkins would give him a decent run out. Sure enough 88th minute. What can a player do in that time?

Baxter came on yesterday to play as a defensive mid at the base of some diamond in Adkins brain. Completely the wrong role for him.

The bench has become a naughty bench for flair players that can take the game to the opposition. Baffling.

This is the kind of thinking that keeps poor managers in a job.

This is just bollocks. Six months is no time. I've seen your recent posts and they are just reactionary rubbish. Look at the mess we are in, then look at the mistakes we keep making. We keep sacking managers giving them less and less time. Clough should have never been sacked but we did, and being fair replaced him about as well as we were going to. But it's clear to me that there is a cancer within the club caused by years of making the same mistakes. Selling the Murphys, Blackmans and McGuires of this world and replacing them with lesser players. Stop doing that and we stop going backwards.

Managers play a part sure, but they can't all get it wrong all the time like you see when you read these forums. There is so much wrong at the lane it's going to take more than a season to clear it out.

So you don't agree with me. Is there any need for the ill-mannered rant?

I suppose it's an education thing.

(Ah. I've just noticed the time you posted. That probably explains a lot.)

Not sure I would call Che Adams the hottest property in League 1, a player that doesn't even make the starting line up, but warms the bench. Good in patches I would say.

If Sammon is not going to get games, he should be sent back. I assume he came here because of some pre-existing arrangement via Nigel Clough? The smart thing, if you want a big, pacey target man, would have been to sign Leon Clarke. I know it would have been unpopular with some fans, but he is one of those players that will always be a threat.

Go on, please tell me what that explains? Then we can move on the the Education part of your post which is as bollocks as the rubbish you were writing previously.
