Think you're pissed off now?

Wait until we 'try' and sign someone on deadline day only for Phipps to tweet in the closing hour 'we've tried hard but looks like we won't be able to get the deals done in time' and then realising we're stuck with the same back 4 until summer...

Luckily most of us wrote off promotion a while ago. Feel for the few who still think it's possible. The January window will probably end any hope anyone has. Another disastrous season l. Well done everybody

Hard to write of promotion when you are as close to the play offs as we are. Back to the old saying for us though, it's the hope that kills you.

It's ok - Phippsy's off sick now. Probably to return early Feb I'd say.

Another mediocre side comes to the Lane and is easily on a par with us. The quality we have in Sharp and Brayford can't hope to make up for the utter dross we have in so many positions. Done left to chase about like a headless chicken whilst never getting a cross near him and only a couple of times having the ball at his feet to run with.

Disagreed with nearly every decision Adkins made today. Everything good for us in the first half came through Coutts and he was linking up well with Brayford. So second half we decide to have him move centrally where he faded out of the game. Took off both Basham and Hammond while we were under pressure, took Coutts off, and somehow Woolford stayed on to continue in his usual style of contributing absolutely nothing of value at any point. Doesn't defend anywhere near as well as Flynn. Doesn't attack anywhere near as well as JCR. Even while Che and Baxter have too many games that pass them by, at least there's a latent threat that they could produce some magic. Any one of those players ought to be ahead of Woolford even if they have two broken ankles.

Would agree if there was say 3 games to go . I think it's 19 left . Still a lot to play for albeit performances , tactics can be dire .

If we make the play offs ( could be a big if ) , we will win them.

Just have this gut feeling we would finish up meeting Burton.

We give the support , Adkins needs to manage . We cannot blame Clough and Co for everything IMO.

The midfielders did their job despite injury and a booking until they were substituted and changed for players that couldn't tackle a Sunday dinner!

The only possible logic to the choice of players that came on was to put them in the shop window.

I would have hoped that Adkins would have learned from last week. We couldn't even hold out when we try to defend a 1-0 lead against a team 2nd from bottom, never mind a mid-table outfit.

A lot of hard work put in by the players today undone by poor substitutions and tactics from the manager. My biggest worry now is whether the board will still trust our manager to make significant purchases in the JTW.

Adkins has had enough time to 'stamp his mark' on the squad and failed miserably. The board have no ambition. We - the supporters - are the only ones who escape blame for yet another wasted season.

Surely those subs were down to injuries.
As for transfers Adkins said they have had bids turned down so onto to the loan window in February by then 6th spot could be out of sight.
McCabe and the Prince must be off on holidays until the summer when they get back someone tell them they are still in the same lovely league.

Until I hear otherwise I'll remain convinced that Basham was injured. Hammond too. To end the game with that midfield can't have been deliberate!

Agree we were terrible today.

We got an early goal and then just tried to coast to a 1-0 victory.
We let Swindon win the midfield and like against Man Utd at Old Trafford we parked the bus and
Swindon really struggled to create anything.

Disagree with the board have no ambition comments.

They've appointed the best (and probably most expensive) manager based on cv.
We've also brought it players who were on massive wages, Sharp and Hammond.
They've spent heavily in each Jan window.
Paying over 1 million for a defender is unheard of in league 1, Brayford was our talisman and leader.
We also bought Rochdale best player in Matty Done.
We've re-signed the hottest property in league 1 Che Adams when PL clubs came sniffing.

However I'm having doubts over Nigel Adkins.
Done doesn't seem the same player. We don't use wingers.
Our mental attitude seems to be wrong. We start slow and often let in late goals.

Based on today's performance we won't reach the playoffs. Swindon were better than us and going for the win.
BUT of course there's plenty of time to go and we can still make the playoffs.

Adkins said Bash was injured and Hammond only needs one more booking to ten and a two game ban. He admitted Coutts possibly could have stayed on longer and maybe Che come on for him

If their finishing hadnt been so shit we'd have lost that one easily. Almost wondering now is it worth spending owt this JTW or just wait till summer to rebuild. This squaf ain't good enough to get promotion.

Hammond was on a booking so think that might have been a factor.

Mate if we play burton then Clough will outsmart Adkins.

Terrible performance today, nothing in the middle of the park and Swindon had far too much space.
Substitutions were puzzling as well.
Terrible

I agree. Completely dire.
Could see their equaliser coming from the second we scored.
A depressing game which shows how far away we are from being successful.

As much as I want him to succeed, I'm starting to worry Nigel Adkins might be a moron.
Yea not giving me any confidence at all gave nothing to say he's a level above manager tactics worse i've seen for a long time today made me really notice how bad he is .And his interviews fk !

Just seen the goal, eight Blades players bunched together, leaving their man in loads of space. You can have as many players as you like back defending, it's no use if they aren't tracking back opposition players.

6 months in, he's failed miserably?

That, good sir, is utter bollocks.

UTB

And how long has Carvahal had at Swillsborough - 6 months? Don't tell me, he's had money to spend. We are possibly the biggest club in this piss-poor division in terms of backing, potential, crowds etc. and if Adkins can't get us higher than mid-table - nowhere near the play-off positions, he will have failed miserably.

So what then? Should he go?

Another manager then, great! But wait......what if he fails too after 3 or 6 months?

Get rid again, obvs!

Let's keep going until we have tried every working manager on the LMA's books. If we still haven't got promoted by then, I'd suggest we make Barney or Brian the Blade manager. You know it makes sense.

This is the kind of thinking that keeps poor managers in a job. When they go, it's all our fault - we're 'impatient' etc. Maybe it would help if, before the latest poor manager is sacked, we had some idea of a decent replacement - somebody who's not out of work, somebody who has evidence of success in the last couple of years. If we didn't keep employing poor managers, maybe we wouldn't have this merry-go-round?

I think we all understand the problems any manager of United faces - a board without ambition and which sells any asset and replaces them with patently poor alternatives. But that cannot excuse tactical ineptness (which we've seen far too many times this season), the one-eyed acceptance of a clearly over-the-hill Hammond, the shocking use of substitutes. Even the 'heroic' display at Old Trafford illustrated Adkins' mindset - defend from minute one and hope for...what?

He was on FH on Friday saying 'I've asked the players to be more positive.' Asked? Fucking asked? Who's in charge here?
